 Cotton socks
« Thread Started on Jun 27, 2006, 4:53pm »

I had been having lots of pain on the bottoms of my feet, along the plantar tendon and what looked like sores on the bottom of my feet. Also the toe joints and ankle joints were aching. Also some swelling around the top of the foot and the ankles.

I threw away my shoes and wore old socks and treated my feet with tea tree oil. This seemed to stop the pain.

Yesterday I put on a laundered, fairly new pair of cotton sweat socks. I think I got them recently from the Dollar Tree store. Wow, my foot pain came back and feet started peeling on bottom.

Also, when I did my castor oil rubs on my arms last night, I started getting out 'white, cotton looking' fibers instead of my normal black ones. Like the socks had entered my system.

I recognise this. This condition seems to have started with me when I cut my heels and developed what appeared to be a severe case of athletes foot. I have had lots of very painful large lesions on my heels and now the condition has spread over my foot and the tops of my toes. I was applying a lot of different creams prescribed by the dermatologist and thought that what was happening was that the material from my socks was being caught up with the cream and being drawn into my foot. However, it is definitely being absorbed as a couple of weeks back I wore a pair of black socks with purple heels and toes - that evening when I was getting undressed a purple fiber about an inch long and quite substantial emerged from my heel. I took the photograph to the doctor and he said it was 'just a blurry image'. I am going to get Jim to sign it as the photographer to show I have a witness - probably will make no difference.
But what's the solution do you wear socks or not? I don't like to have my feet bare because of the lesions.

Hannah, Hi.
Were your black/purple socks cotton?
I am thinking I need to go to nylon.
Don't like it, but indeed, the cotton may be contaminated.

Just a suggestion, but drop the socks into boiling water before ever wearing them, then wash
with borax and machine dry. I wear nothing but cotton or linen and some rayon in summer. Getting sweaty just kicks up my symptoms, itchy creepy crawly etc. so I would not wear nylon socks ever.

Over a year ago my feet were highly infested in terms of crawling
sensations and white specks and those black dot things. My shoes were infested and didn't last long before I had to toss them out.

For a while I wore plastic zip lock bags (cut to fit like a sock)
over my socks so as not to keep contaminating my shoes. I also started throwing away my socks each day. I have been spending a bundle on socks.

I tried several remedies, but finally used Tree Tea and it did help a lot.
I put it on undiluted all over the foot. After about 2 - 3 weeks my feet were so much better. They no longer stung so much in the shower (that feeling of a hundred pins and needles stinging the soles). I no longer had the crawlies so much nor the dots and specks in my shoes and on the socks.

Now, however, a new situation has developed. It is minor compared to the previous foot infestation. Each night when I take off my white socks to throw them away, there are all these pieces of cotton fiber from the socks in webs between the toes and even balled up knots of sock fiber.

It is not the sort of thing one goes to the doctor to show and tell,
but each night it strikes me as very odd.

First of all, the fiber is not on the top or bottom of the foot where the sock torches the foot but rather it is in between the toes. Maybe a single piece of fiber could go between toes occasionally. But every night to find a network of sock fiber BETWEEN the toes suggests some unaccounted for activity happening on my feet at the toe area.

I do not wash these new cotton socks before wearing. I have never washed new socks before the first wearing. I have never had fibers stuck in webs and balls BETWEEN each of the toes.

Perhaps I will need to go back to the regular use of tree tea oil.
When I was doing that I don't recall the fibers.

Yes, I have worried that the fibers are being drawn into the foot
by these microscopic critters. They are definitely pulling fibers out of the new socks and practicing their knitting between my toes.

Thanks for creating the strand so I could mention this new abnormal finding. Has anyone else noticed the fibers between the toes?

Our shoes and socks were very infected with the white and black balls and fibers. We got news shoes and Gold Toe socks that are kinda thin with lots of nylon. I spray my feet, shoes, and socks with Woodward's Diabetic Basics Instant Foot Sanitizer with benzalkonium chloride. This works pretty well but I still have toenail fungus.

hello everyone,
My elderly friend with morgs bought some micatin spray from Dermatechrx and sprays it on her clean socks inside out the night before. It was on sale or she would not be doing this. She has clipped all of the cotton linings out of her underpants carefully leaving the rayon or nylon ones and then after these are laundered, soaks them in rubbing alcohol in ziplock bags.

I have only a hot plate in my room or I could try sustained boiling and tried the alcohol thing on underwear but it just killed me with fumes. I am considering buying some nylon socks of some type like polyester or nylon. Cotton just seem to be driving me nutz even other things. Before I toss my socks, I plan to "seal-a meal" them with some moth balls thrown in. My brother has good luck with this method. I do use diatomaceious earth in my socks but it is still bad. I think my brother has polyester socks now. Will check with him but if he does, he is still vigilant/ diatomaceous earth in them. I spray out shoes with benzarid (safe2Uses product) often and have an old pair that this technique doesn't work on so will try the seal-a-meal on them before I toss them letting them sit in the bag for a month in the hot car, like on the dash.

Lots of different and inspired approaches as per usual. I've been washing the socks in Borax and changing them a few times in the day but didn't wash them when new. At night after applying Special No 1 ointment, prescribed by dermotologist, I then apply petroleum jelly to create a seal. This has been quite effective in healing some of the lesions so I've tried this during the day too but the tingling persists.
Today I bought some Canesten anti-fungal cream and spray - the tea tree sounds like an idea. I think I maybe try another fabric. I felt well today so if I am as energetic tomorrow I may take a bus ride to the shops as there are lots of sales on at present - maybe find a few pairs of silky, smooth, comfortable, non-tinglers. I'll keep you posted.

First of all - anything that comes into my house - if it's fabric it gets sprayed with ammonia. New clothes get washed with a half-cup of ammonia added to the detergent.

I don't have carpets or curtains anymore. No fabric furniture. But do use blankets, and have had to get new mattresses (sprayed with ammonia)

Every load of laundry I do gets ammonia in the wash cycle, not just new stuff. And, because I do chores around horses, and they are constantly wiping their noses on me, blowing their noses on me, etc., I buy shirts at the thrift shop. I wash those with ammonia and am just fine with that. No problemo - no itching caused by the thrift shop shirts - ammonia fixes stuff for me.

But, if you are chemical sensitive, that won't work for you.

It's just been my experience that ammonia has worked to clean my environment, vehicles, shoes, clothing, etc. I even spray the interior of dog houses from time to time, and their bedding.

Since you are discussing feet, it made me think of these photos recently posted on the Human Biology thread:

http://biology-online.org/biology-forum/about1958-2520.html

Some of the newer members here may not recall Dr. Julian Holmes, but he was kind enough to post here and suggested trying ozone therapy. He had treated oils with ozone, and also suggested bagging the afflicted limb - tightly securing the edge and filling the bag with ozone.

This therapy was one that alarmed a few people because if ozone is breathed it could kill you or do some serious damage.

I thought that I would try it outdoors, in case of a leak on the edge - but my machine never arrived. (Corrupt local postal employee)

The last I heard Dr. Julian Holmes was in South Africa and was helping a family down there with Morgellons. He has been out of touch for quite a while. I found him to be very helpful, although I suspect he was overwhelmed by the response when he offered help.

Like most doctors who have reached out to help, he got attacked by a few, but if it bothered him he did not show it.

I will always be appreciative of his kindness and generosity.

I remembered from some reading, that the wealthy buy linen stockings. So I googled on 'linen socks'. These are a couple of the links that came up. No more cheap cotton socks for me. Or other cheap unerwear. Better to spend the money on good clothes rather than medicine.

So, there are many suggestions as to anti-cotton critters info. here. My conclusion is that many of you have also been having trouble with this. This may, indeed, point to an agricultural connection.

The socks i have been buying really have a lot of loose cotton fibers and balls on the inside. Today, I picke the stuff off before I put on a pair. Three hours later, I peeled them off and looked inside. All the loose stuff had re-appeared. Much was sticking to my feet and liked the area between my toes. I am coming to the conclusion that these socks are alive.

Hi Belikewater:

Very interesting observations on your part.

I was initially infected by new cotton socks right out of the sack that I did not wash first.

There is little if any doubt that cotton is one of several of the more ubiquitous vectors for this thing.

Best Regards:

Hi, Cliff,
Thank you for all your good information.
When you gave your Rense interview, you mentioned some medicine you took or something that really helped you.
Could you please let us know what that was?
Thank you.

"Cotton, the fabric of our demise ..." Gee, what's the only fabric mass marketed to the public in TV commercials?

I'm just trying to think of all the products that use cotton. Have the new paper money bills swtiched from the old use of linen to cotton fbers? Women's sanitary products and facial products. Please post things you have had problems with.

I had bought some "cottonelle" TP but stopped using it as it started trying to adhere to my body parts and regularly clogged the toilet in this old house.

In the very early stages of this. before i knew anything about morgellons i would rub my skin with a cottonball using tea tree oil and other things such as alcohol. i would then examine the battonball under magnigication. what i saw in the cottonball...xan i say this here :-X appeared to be very tiny worms, could not make out details, sometimes i could only see a little balck dot, but clarly moving. anyway i took this as evedence that i was removing something from my skin using this method. but there was no endto this process so i looked around for something to smother whater ever it was that was living in my skin. i found some old hair straightening gel and applyed tomy hand and such using a cottonball. then the weirdesy thing happened. i couldnt beleive my eyes when part of this cottonball started merging into my skin. :o i tried to stop it but i couldnt. i think now that the hair gel was so sticky and thick that it slowed down a proccess i had never seen before. i mean like made it happen in slow motion. i then started to examine both q tips and cottonballs, sure enough i saw fibers moving all on their own. i quit using them then. terrified of anything cotton. but that was also at the same time i couldnt wear anything that wouldnt attack me. i spent alot of time naked, sitting on a piece of plastic. there wasnt one thing in my envoronment that i wasnt afraid to touch including myself.a living hell beyond words. anyway....this still puzzles me. because i havent witnessed that since. never tried it again either . recently i examined a q tip and didnt see anything move. i know that anything cloth in my home became infected, buttons off my clothers all fell off, seams came undone from everything they seemed to prefer thread or things in a straight line,. i hate them i want them to leave. ive seen worms on my clothes. but only on black clothes. i could go on and on about the environment issues.because this is a huge environmental problem in my opinion. i sure enjoyed cliff and greema and what they had to say about this. it was mentioned how the disease progresses and the symptoms change and of course its not the same for everyone. but yeah i know something was in those cotton products along with everything else. i alsowonder sometimes ifsomething inside my skin is also pulling things in. i only know i dont know for sure.

I remember at first my feet and hands were the most affected by this scourge.

One night I soaked in the tub for five hours rather than go to bed to be crawled on. When I got out of the tub, my toes itched really bad, so I rubbed them with my towel and black things came out of maybe the hair follicles of my toes, not sure. But I truly think I drowned them because I didn't have any more trouble with my feet.

Meanwhile, my hands are still giving me trouble.

I went out for a while today and wore my new socks 30% cotton and 70% lycra.
They had been steeped in boiling water then washed with borax but my feet still itched and tingled. Eventually I took them off and rubbed some tea tree oil inside the leather on my shoes and this settled things down. I also bought a pair of rubber shoes with the toe enclosed - apparently a Sketcher's fashion item but they look pretty ugly to me. However, they will be easy to keep clean, spray and so on. In the meantime I am going to check out belikewater's links to the linen sock sites - I've more or less said goodbye to the holiday fund anyway.

Haven't much to offer on the sock thing but for the feet I have used epson salt.
I know that when you have sores on them it's a bit oweeee but it sure feels good when the pain stops. I also soak with apple cider vinegar.
Sometimes I just put my foot tub in front of the tv and watch/listen to a program. The epson is good for the sores and achy muscles. Apple cider vinegar is suppose to draw toxins.
Sometimes I use the exfoliation cream on them after soaking them and just gently rub them and it helps pull out/off whatever is left behind. It's quite the work out. I let them soak for about an hour and then rub them and rinse them good and dry them good.
If you do not have sores on them and want instant gratification(which sometimes I need) pour some rubbing alcohol on a cloth and hold it to your feet and it will take the burn and sting out for a bit. I do this when I can't stand it any more and gives me some temporary relief(so I don't scream)
It does dry your feet out if you use the alcohol on them alot.
If you know someone that has a foot bath .........(forgot what it's called will ask Monday)
it draws toxins out BIG TIME
This gal I go to for colon cleanses has one and you put your feet in this tub and there is a little motor like thing(again great termonology) anyway, it does a great job. I sit there and watch the water turn almost black. All kinds of stuff float in the water. We took a white piece of paper one time and scooped some of the yuk out and smeared it and it looked like(sludge) mud or clay. It was very strange.
Someone at your local health food store might know someone that has these services. They are usually in the know about this kind of thing. It runs about 30 bucks for an hour.
Anyway, hope that helps. Sorry but don't have any answers or helpful hints on the sock thing. Stll trying to figure that one out and if I find something that works for me I'll let you know. Eat good. Keep looking up.....Sending love and Hugs Laur
