Hi Absurdly,
I watched the video a few times, because I'm doing like the rest of us are, (trying to figure this out).
The only thing that is kinking me up here, ((( and I must ask questions to know ))) - but....there's no swarming. That's "key" to the Dicty in their chemotatic movement (imho). I see a "chemical reaction" of particles all going the same direction (which is of an *appearance* of chemotatatic activity of them) as a way to put it, but the swarm isn't there - and to the best of my knowledge, (that's a huge factor). What do you think?

I loved the music, (how fitting) hehehe
Yes...(that's the swarming) inside it.
Perfect.

Hi Absurdly,
Yes, I just now watched. Thanks.
(imho) that's a chemical reaction. But, I could be wrong. Here's why I say though that I think it's a chem reaction or (Brownian effect is actually what it's called).
Place a drop (or less) of water ontop of all those specimens/particles there under your scope.
Then, touch a needle "next to, or by any of the specks". The specks will all then go rushing towards the needle. That's what I mean by (chem reaction)- The Brownian Effect. Just my thoughts.
If you try the needle (then you'll see how particular objects/specks) will cause the "movements/reactions" that you're seeing of the specks.
I've put rubbing alcohol too "on many black particles" on my slide, and they rushed around like each one was "haywired" hehehe, but ...really, they'll go all irratic and shimmy and shake. I think that's the Brownian effect also.
I'll upload a video later, I'm sorry I can't right now, and show you what I mean.
And thank you. (also, this is ONLY my opinion) and we all have one -which is a GREAT thing because that's what it takes.

Hi Absurdly,
Well, I wanted to show you a video, and of couse my scope is acting up today. I've been having problems with it. But...no matter, here's what I mean in how to see "molecule reactions with the energy particular specimens have".
If one was to fill their bathtub/or sink with hot water and soapy suds, (lets say the bathtub), well, when you go to step in (as long as the suds aren't sky high) hehe, the suds "will separate" and form a wide clearing around your foot. That's "energy at work" - molecules reacting.
And the opposing (if the energy or heat in the main particle) and it's submerged in liquid, then any smaller particles in the area (will be attracted) they'll then "congregate" and move towards the larger particle as it contains more energy molecules than the smaller particles do.

Yes toni- I know exactly what you're talking about. And of course alcohol will always cause that reaction with water. But see, this specimen is not really a liquid and it still wouldn't explain the other little things going on there. IMH-morgbrained-O lol
Good luck with your scope. I'm expecting mine to be etched and ruined by this stuff eventually. I don't know how to stop it from growing all over the lenses. So far so good.
I have zero space these days and every time I want to get any pictures I have to clear a spot and set the whole thing up. whining and complaining - that's me today......

I loved the slime mold, how cool is nature!!! I just do not know what is going on in your video it looks like the fiber looking thing is sucking all the particles to it, what your doing is what its all about, finding something and explaining how you found it, possibly to be replicated by others. Good job

Hi Absurdly, I know what you mean. From this end sometimes it's hard to tell what's happening, but I understand now, thank you. Very interesting indeed. I'm not sure what that is, (only have an idea). What is the magnification on this video? And I am so glad you post such excellent video's! Keep up the great work. (my scope, it's unpredictable, sometimes I can see the specimens, and then like yesterday, it's so dark, that even a flashlight won't work well enough to see some of these things. And thank you.

My ISP has been wonky and unreliable lately. So has my head. I typed two long posts with pics yesterday, and LOST them both. It exhausted me but I'm here to try again. I'm still using Gentian Violet on my face. It stops the biting/itching/crawling sensations. It's a temporary reprieve and I can't stay perpetually purple. What would people think? Don't answer that, lol. I'm posting pics of a specimen of very fine, black "dust" that had been accumulating under one end of a 14' carpet runner I'd been using. I'd been trying to ignore this situation for months thinking, "It COULDN"T be!". I finally scoped the stuff and here it is. According to the tag the runner is 100% polypropylene. Made in Italy Well, it won't attach right now so while I wait........more details......... Stuff feels like fiberglass insulation. There is a lot of it. Carpet runner is now bagged and in the garage. (Specimens archived-lol) Among the spikey specimens are "fibers" and things exact to "body specimens". Could be just artifacts. There's no way this stuff was falling off of me only in this particular area and then weaseling it's way underneath the carpet. Carpet runner is not falling apart as some backing on throw rugs will do. Well, not obviously anyway. So I won't speculate about this, for the same reasons I haven't commented about other posts recently- I don't know.
