Hello! It's time for me to buy a new USB surface microscope. My old one went from 50 to 150X - it was made by Celestron. Not a bad microscope for its price!
However, I would like to go to at least 400x and have super clear hi-res images.
Any suggestions as to the make and model number of a good microscope for our application?
Thanks!!

Its a gonna be hard to find that, there is one on Amazon that brags 800x and it only costs like $38, just baloney.
People do not know how hard it is to get good resolution at such numbers.
Celestron is like one of the biggest companys, you will see the $400 dollar handhelp looks exact to Celestron it may also be a celestron.
The celestron says it is 200x but it has 5 mega pixel, the other has 2 and it is 220x but costs more than 3 times as much.
Mega pixels mean clarity, so it does not matter how big it gets if you have low pixels you will get blur.
HIGH PRICE is not a sign of quality or excellence, it is a sign of greed.
Some people will not buy low priced items, consumer reports shows, high price many times means low quality.

I bought a $30 one off ebay, knowing it would be low quality and yes - the resolution blurs the image, even though it is advertised as a 400X. (also the software with it was inferior). I might get another Celestron. Thanks.

Awares,
I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but the AM Scopes (which I have one and love it) goes from 100X to 2,000X and the clarity is as clear as a bell.
