Aspartame Proven To Cause Cancer From Dr. Betty Martini, D.Hum. Bettym19@mindspring.com Director - Mission Possible 7-21-5 A three year Italian study on Aspartame in rats revealed a connection between the artifical sweetner and leukemia, lymphoma and malignant brain tumors. It conclusively * proved * that aspartame is a carcinogen, say the study's authors. A famous neurosurgeon calls for the complete removal of aspartame-laden products from all schools. These claims completely refute and destroy those of Aspartame manufacturers. -- Betty Martini ATLANTA (PRWEB) -- The European Ramazzini Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences Cancer Research Centre in Bolonga, Italy, just released their three year study confirming the link between aspartame and lymphomas and leukemias. The report by Morando Soffritti "Aspartame induces lymphomas and leukemias in rats" is in the European Journal of Oncology for July, 2005. Dr. Soffritti and his team carefully set the conditions whereby genetically-uniform test rats were treated equally with the exception of being divided into groups given varying levels of the toxic chemical sweetener. Rats are deemed appropriate subjects for testing aspartame on humans because both humans and rats metabolize the methyl ester in aspartame into methyl alcohol, then formaldehyde then formic acid - all deadly poisons. The carcinogenicity of substances in rats and mice is a consistent predictor of cancer risk in humans exposed to those substances. The study commenced with 8 week old rats and continued until the last one died at 159 weeks. Their physical status and behavior were examined three times daily and detailed records of their growth were kept. Every two weeks each of the 3,600 rats were "clinically examined for gross changes." As each rat died, a complete autopsy was performed. Organs, tissues and bones were preserved for further study. "In our experimental conditions, it has been demonstrated that APM [aspartame] causes a dose-related statistically significant increase in lymphomas and leukemias in females at dose levels very near those to which humans can be exposed," the authors wrote in their conclusion. The number of cancers that developed in rats given zero aspartame was zero. Increases of lymphomas and leukemias at the lowest exposure level was 62 percent and "an increase in the incidence of these types of neoplasias was also observed in males exposed to the highest dose," as stated in the study. Neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, MD, one of the world's leading authorities on aspartame neurotoxicity, extensively reviewed the Soffritti report. "This study confirmed the previous study by Dr. Trocho and co-workers (1998), which also found the formaldehyde breakdown product of aspartame to be damaging to cellular DNA and that this damage was cumulative. The type of damage was a duplicate of that associated with cancers. These two studies strongly indicate that drinking a single diet cola sweetened with aspartame every day could significantly increase one's risk of developing a lymphoma or leukemia," Blaylock said. "This study should terrify mothers and all those consuming aspartame sweetened products," he continued. "This was a carefully done study which clearly demonstrated a statistically significant increase in several types of lymphomas and leukemias in rats. Both of these malignancies have increased significantly in this country since the widespread use of aspartame." "They also found an increased incidence of malignant brain tumors, even though it was not statistically significant. This does not mean there is no association to brain tumors, since ONLY the animals exposed to aspartame developed the tumors. With children and pregnant women drinking the largest amount of diet colas, this puts their children at the greatest risk of developing one of these horrible diseases. Their found that even lower doses of aspartame could cause these malignancies, yet, the higher the dose, the more cancers that were seen," said Blaylock. "Since aspartame can increase obesity and may even cause the metabolic syndrome that affects 48 million Americans, there is no reason to ever consume this product. At the least, it should be immediately banned from all schools," said Blaylock " SNIP www.rense.com/general67/aasp.htm

aspartame safe for everyone?
Aspartame is one of the most thoroughly tested ingredients in our food supply. It has been approved by health and regulatory authorities in 100 countries throughout the world. Numerous organisations, including experts of the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, the European Union's Scientific Committee for Food, and the United States Food & Drug Administration have approved the use of aspartame in food and drinks. Aspartame is safe for the general population, including pregnant women and nursing mothers, children, diabetics and slimmers.

aspartame is a dirty rotten trick If the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol ASPARTAME coverts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. mmmmm I wounder what happens when it is consumed by a body that the average temperature is 98.6 -----no DA" personally If I want something sweetened I use fruits and fruit juices theres no way in hell something that man has tampered with can beat the goodness mother nature has set before us

Not everyone can have sugar. Fruit juice or otherwise.
If aspartame bugs everyone, and you don't want to use sugar (or fruit juices, which is bascially sugar), use Splenda.
On a more general note.
If you look hard enough you always find something that says "this, or that, will kill you" in today's world.
Dryer sheets will kill you, asparatame will kill you, coal tar will kill you, farm raised salmon will kill you, etc. etc.
What's one to do? Go live in a plastic bubble?
Try to eat Low GI foods, exercise and live what's left of your life, after this scourge has done it's scorched earth number on it. That's about the best you can hope for, at this point.

I dont know about the aspartamine but the lemon is detoxifying. I remember a lyme doc saying to use a whole fresh lemon squeezed in a glass of water for die off symtoms from antibiotics. I myself use stevia, you can get at the healthfood store. I drink lots of iced greentea with lots of lemon and stevia to sweeten. Green tea also has lots a health benes and a little kick of caffeine too :oFrisky Cat

To No Sugar - Exactly! How many times have we heard that coffee was bad for us, then it was good, then bad, etc. The studies are all flawed to a certain extent and people often have reactions from other health problems they weren't even aware of when entering the study. This is why so many of them are debunked time after time. It says the aspartame study started with 100,000ppm and kept feeding it to the rats until they croaked. It also concludes with the clarification that the rats died "in our experiment conditions", which are cleverly not published. Well gee! We don't know if they were only fed this and denied food and water, we don't know much about this study at all and I think if it had any merit the FDA would be quoting it on their Aspartame info site. At present, the FDA says there is no proof of aspartame being harmful to us, only to those who already have an aversion to phenylalanines. This mirrors the warnings on all products, stating for people not to take them if you have a history of being allergic to any of the ingredients.

Funny thread Here is Jeff defending Aspartame and promoting Dr Schwartz on another threads. Google Dr Schwartz and aspartame... you will find lots of links and maybe Dr Schwartz's book on the subject. Here's a snippet: How was aspartame approved? Dr. Schwartz was asked to elaborate on a statement attributed to former Senator Metzenbaum, now of the Consumer Federation of America in Washington, DC who said, "the approval process of aspartame has had a questionable history." Dr. Schwartz: "When aspartame was first introduced for approval by the FDA, it was considered to be a sweetener, not an additive or a drug, and with a great deal of lobbying the discussions were propelled through the approval proceedings and the numerous case reports from individuals with adverse reactions were ignored." SNIP more: How does aspartame affect vision. Dr. Schwartz states, "Diet drinks with aspartame release small amounts of methanol when the aspartame is broken down through digestion in the small intestine. It is well documented that methanol interrupts the retina and optic nerve transmissions and causes visual problems. Even though the FDA has thousands of cases of visual disturbances on record from individuals drinking too many diet drinks with aspartame, there have been no formal, unbiased, scientific studies done. Visual studies need to be done." www.selfgrowth.com/articles/lee5.html

J Jill, great to see you still posting! To those who feel the studies are flawed and anyone who can't help but wonder why a product that is proven in several studies is still on the market for consumption. MONSANTO and big chem bussiness is behind this. They will continue to provide us with products we KNOW are unhealthy for us. It's all about $$$$$. Do THEY really care about your health? ............... JJ, still hangin.

With you poeple its like all or nothing> i have a mind of my own..I think dr swartz is a genious...but I still think aspartamine is better than sugur...Do you have any idea how many poeple sugur kills???while were digging digging trying to find 1 death associated with aspartimine thousands and thousands have died from sugur induced diabetis..alot of poeple have lost all common sense..ok maybe its bad for you...but give me 1 person here he doesnt eat sugur at all...in any form...so what Im saying if you think aspartimine is bad for you and you eat sugur while saying it...your a pretty fluffy bunny in a tu- tu ..and probably oversexed..I know one thing for shure sugur and this skin condition do not mix at all....so it would be best to go cold turkey on all sweetners> but who can...

Everyone should research and make own decision. As for me if I've come to the conclusion that natural is better and for the most part our bodies aren't made to digest manmade foods. Splenda might be better a better choice because it is a from natural sugar but who knows. I read a study that said artificial sweetners did not help in losing weight long term. I'm not a real religious person but the Bible says use the meat of the plant for for nourishment and the roots and leaves for medicenal purposes. Sounds pretty logical but I'm sure there are exceptions.
