I purchased my tetracycline from MedMex, they are supposed to be very reliable. All of the medicine is property packaged and in it's original packaging. It's called Tetrex 500 mg of tetracycline, it's Hormona labs / Bristol-Myers Squibb, the capsules are green/yellow. The expiration date is ABR 2010 and it's impressed into the packaging, I can tell it's original, it's in spanish so I guess that means the year 2010.
Do you think this is safe, I ordered 3 months worth and want to start taking 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening.

Grady,
No one can really answer that, (about if Tetra is safe for you).
Have you ever had it before? If so...then you'll have some comfort there.
I say that because me for instance, am allergic to it.
I know I'm a rarity on that, but it's true, I can't take it.
This IS the most pitiful position WE ALL have been in, SELF TREATING in this day and age, because we have no doctors to help guide us.
It's ALL NOTHING BUT A PURE CRIME. Even the smallest things, CDC should be giving some kind of instructions to the doctors ...so they can some what help us.
We are on our own, and each one of us is our own guinea pig.
I do wish you good luck.
PS - one thing you really should do, since you're ordering meds, is read ALL you can get your hands on to know what to look for, what is possibly something to warn you, etc. And "about taking acidophilus"...or something like it.
You not only kill bad bacteria with any antibiotic, but the good bacteria goes too (and you need that, the good bacteria or you will run into other problems.)

My lyme doctor has me take 3 500-mg tetracylines a day. I think it works better if you take 2 of them at one time.
It works better on an emply stomach but I got to where I had to take food with it. There are some foods you shouldn't take at the same time with tetra. Dairy products and some others I think. You can find that info on line.

Toni, it's not tetracycline I'm worried about, I've done that before, it's just ordering it from MedMex, I wanted to know if others have and if it they think they are a good source.

Dosage determines what you want to do. The differences are:
Bacteriostatic (keep from reproducing) Bacteriocidal (kill)
I take 2 - 500mg AM and 2 - 500mg PM (total 2000mg daily)
but on days when I don't have an empty stomach, I skip them.
It is what your body can handle. They are suppose to be taken on an empty stomach. It can make you nauseated until you are used to them.
Browncircles is right................My doctor told me if I was going to take it with a glass of milk or anything high on calcium that I might as well throw the pill in the garbage because it won't work.
I was prescribed tetracycline as a teenager for acne Long Term and he said the same thing.
Ideally, Take them one hour before eating or two hours after eating.

I ordered generic bactrim from them and had no problem and Flagyl as well.
Someone in CA recommended them to me as a "safe" pharmacy and she had been using them for quite some time.
I trusted her and had no problems with them myself.
Call the phone number if you are needing more information. I have spoken with the customer service people before and they all speak good english which also was reassuring.
I agree with Toni, it is a shame we are put in this position. Grady, maybe your doctor will prescibe them and they are cheap in generic form at Walmart or Target with their $4.00/monthly supply program.
