Welcome To LymeBusters!
We are a group of friends and strangers, all coming together to share our stories and find help for Lyme disease and Morgellons disease (which often go hand in hand), as well as other infectious diseases and various skin afflictions. We turn no one away....we don't even ask that you register your name with us. Our only request is that you try and be as cordial to your fellow posters as you would like them to be with you.
We can't tell you how much we appreciate each and every one of you who frequents this board....those who give of yourselves so tirelessly to help others; those who are desperately seeking relief from the private hell they've been through; those who offer comfort and support to help lift the spirits of others; and even those who read silently (we hope that one day you will decide to post as well). But no matter what your reason for coming here, we are glad that you do and hope you will continue to do so. WHEN we get this nightmarish mystery solved, we want all of you by our sides as you all have worked so hard toward getting us to that point. And we will get there folks, believe it!
Please feel free to share what has (or hasn't) worked for you, along with any websites containing relevant information to these protocols and/or products. This may include "for-profit" websites, although we do not allow your own personal solicitation for monies on any of our boards. And if you have any links to your own personal photos of consequences of these diseases and also yourself, please share them on the photo board.
A few weeks back we had the misfortune of having all of our archives accidentally deleted. We deeply regret that this happened as we know how valuable much of that information was to all of you, but sometimes things just happen over which we have no control. If you have any informative posts saved from the past, please re-post them if you think they are still relevant and would help someone else.
We also ask that you adhere to a few suggestions that will help make our forum a pleasant place to be, void of any added stress or conflict:
1. Please be considerate of the feelings of others by not calling them names, putting down their opinions, or lashing out at them in any way. Remember that most of us here are ill and in addition to not thinking clearly, we also tend to be more emotional. If you don't like what someone is saying, please just move on and stop yourself from posting something that you will later regret.
If you do not like an action that the Admins have taken, please address your concerns to them privately. Posting your objections on the board only serves to stir up additional comments that generally hurt feelings, and most likely we will delete your post. Everyone has their own opinion but if we do something you don't understand, it's probably because you do not have all the facts that we do. We will answer your questions honestly but would prefer that the entire public not be involved in this exchange.
It is not accepted internet protocol anywhere to hijack someone's thread that they've worked hard on, just to steer the discussion toward something that you have to say instead. While multiple threads on the same subject tend to only confuse people, the reverse is also true when a thread is hijacked. It's not fair to the original poster and we ask that you start your own thread when you have something to say. If a pattern of this behavior develops, your intentions quickly become evident to the entire forum and this practice will not be allowed for the good of the board.
We do reserve the right to delete any unsavory, obnoxious, hurtful, spiteful, and degrading posts as they do nothing but start trouble and we already have enough of that involved with our health problems. I think that all of us has at one time or another not liked what we read and went on to post something that always comes back to haunt us. Just keep this in mind.....if you have to stop and think about whether you should say something or not, chances are you shouldn't.
2. We believe that humor goes a long way toward helping us get through the darkest days and you will find humorous posts here frequently. However, we must request that you keep continuous exchanges of a personal nature confined to the PM function. Not everyone likes to read personal chit-chat of others - some even get so frustrated that they leave the board. It makes it more difficult to find posts related to the subject at hand and also takes up valuable space that should be reserved for on-topic board discussions.
3. Please do not post the names and personal contact info of any physicians without their consent. There are many good doctors out there who are fighting for us but sadly, there are also those would like to close them down because they don't agree with their treatment choices. We certainly don't want to be a part of any doctor losing his/her license who is only trying to help us.
4. We recommend that you don't post your personal email address (or that of anyone else) in your messages.....you can use the Instant Message function of the board for this. If you do want your own email in your posts for some reason, you might use this example instead: yourname at abc dot com. It's not just "real" people that you have to worry about, although there are plenty out there who browse message boards solely to find personal email addresses. There are also professional spammers with equipment designed to scan forums and pick up on email addresses in the content of posts, so it's best to just not put it in there. But this is a personal choice you will have to make on your own, knowing that you might be putting yourself at risk.
5. Understand that none of us here at Lymebusters knows what is in your Personal Message mailbox, nor do we have access to your personal password...it's an automated system. If you forget your passsword, go to the log-in page and check the box specified for password retrieval. Your password will be mailed to you again by Proboards and we recommend that you immediately go into your Personal Profile and change it to something you can better remember. If you don't get it in a relatively short amount of time, you might want to check in your Spam folder....they often direct it there. We have also learned that AOL customers don't receive these passwords so these users have to open up other accounts with Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. in order to receive board activation.
You can also contact one of us if you have any type of problems with the board. Anthill is very good at solving these problems but we don't want to overload him either, so please use common sense before continuously asking for help.
