Question- How do you actually "send" e-mail that pops up as automatic already containing the recipient's e-mail address? Since I have not received a response to recent e-mails of this type, I wonder if I have to hit some button or key toSEND rather than just hitting the X to close the file. I know how to send regular e-mail; I hit the SEND button. This automated e-mail has no SEND button. Can you please help? B ross

Hi Betsy,
I'm wondering what email program you use? I can't imagine any email window automatically popping up unless you have hit the "reply" button, and then there should be a "send" button somewhere on the page (or within that window if you use a program like Outlook or Outlook Express). If you "X" out the window, then those emails probably never went out and that is why you've received no replies.
Look again on your message page (or within the message box) and see if there isn't a "send" option somewhere. Also, if you could let us know who you use to manage your emails, maybe someone is familiar enough with them to help you further.
Good luck!

Patti, Thanks for the visual sample of the e-mail. No, I definitely do not have any send buttom which was CLEARLY displayed on the sample you presented.
Meanwhile, since posting the plea for assistance, I had a brief conversation with a younger person at the health food store who was making my sandwich. He suggested that my machine was not set up to send these because I had to subscribe to a service or something like that. I have a Dell with Windows XP only about 1 yr. old.
I have Yahoo for my regular mail and can usually send e-mails just fine. It's the type that automatically presents itself at an online site that causes me trouble. The form that comes up has no"send". I type my message including proper heading and then search and search for anything that even remotely looks like a way to send. Finally in desperation, I decide that closing the window might be the key to sending it. One time I think I tried" enter". Wish I had a test site to send using the enter key. Don't think I've really given that one a fair shake. Otherwise, my outlood express or microsoft office is not set up for this and I have to copy down the address and then go to mail and the whole rigamarole. Thanks for your input and help. Betsy

Betsy, that was our helpful Ant who showed you the screenshot of the email box, but I think I know what you are saying now.
When you want to write to an online site using their contact links, it does automatically bring up your Outlook Express box and if you're not set up for POP forwarding, then you won't be able to send it using your Yahoo address. In fact, I think that Yahoo still doesn't allow the forwarding option unless you have a paid account with them. However, you should have another account with your ISP and I suspect that address is the one connected to the message box that pops up.
I have noticed that when in Outlook Express, if I start an email and then put it to my tray to finish later and then disconnect from the web, the "send" option disappears from that message box when I go back online. But, you can click on "Tools" in the message box and choose the "send message" option and that should work.
What you need to do is change your settings in OE.....Tools>>>Accounts>>>Mail, and follow the instructions after clicking "Add". Actually, you probably should just contact your ISP and tell them what you've told us.....they can send you instructions for setting up that account or tell you over the phone. I could try and explain how to do it but I'm sure they would do a much better job than I ever could.
I hope this makes sense......just contact whomever you are getting your internet service from and I'm sure they will be happy to help. If you still can't get this straightened out, write me back and I'll send you the instructions. Good luck!

Patti- I just came back tonight and found your answer. The wheels of progress move slowly but I can keep the next step in mind, call my internet provider for direction. I'll do that when I can. Thanks for the analysis of the problem and telling me the next step for a possible remedy.
Now I have a question: How or where do we post questions? (not related to computers and not necessarily related to something already posted? I did register at one time but now I avoid using that name because it asks me for my log in in password and I don't know what it was. I need to keep things simple. Betsy

Hi Betsy, First of all, when you do call your ISP Tech Service, I'm sure they can walk you through the process for setting up OE for POP forwarding......just tell them this is what you want them to help you with. Also, you will be getting your password in the mail.....I used the name you initially registered with... betsy. After you receive this password, copy it or write it down and go here: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?At the top, click on "Log In", then type in betsy and the password they sent you. Below it you will see a little drop-down box.....you can choose how long you want to remain logged in and you need to click on "forever", then click on the blue box below it saying "Log In". Now each time you go to the link I gave you above (our Main page), you will always be logged in as betsy and you won't have to remember your password. However, we always recommend that everyone go into their profile and modify it (once they are logged in), changing their password to something they will always remember. This way, in case the board goes down for some reason and your request to stay logged in forever is lost, you will still remember how to get back in. We'll take this one process at a time so for right now, we just need to get you logged in. Let us know if you have any problem following the instructions above and we'll get you going one way or another. Good luck! P.S. As for posting questions, go to the Main page I noted above and click on the category you want your post to be in. After it takes you to that page, on the top of the list of threads you will see some words that say "New Thread"......click on that and it brings up your message box. If you are logged in, you won't have to worry about typing in your User Name but if not, you can just type in Betsy (it won't let you use betsy since you've registered with that name.....that keeps others from posting under your name, which is a good precaution). I hope this helps....let me know.

EMail that "automatically pops up" when viewing a web page uses an html tag "MAILTO:" which envokes your DEFAULT EMAIL CLIENT. If you have not configured Outlook/Outlook Express, (Which by default in any version of Windows IS your default email program) then you cannot SEND because NO ACCOUNT is configured.
You can fix this to use your "web mail" account depending on which BROWSER you use, but it might be easier to ignore it. You could also configure an OUTLOOK ACCOUNT to use the POP3 and SMTP server address for whichever WEBMAIL service/account you are using, which you can find on their main page under Mail/Support.
For example:
POP3 Server Address mail.yahoo.net
SMTP Server Address smtp.yahoo.net
Hope it makes sense. If not, and you are truly interested in setting it up, let me know.

This is true. I think that as was mentioned, there is no POP forwarding for Yahoo free accounts though, so if she calls her support phone number of her default mail Isp they can easily tell her what to do while shes on the phone and at the computer. I think this would be easier for someone not computer savy as its hard to decipher written instructions.

A Thank you list:
Patti- Thank you for the improved method to login. It will certainly simplify the process. I tried it today.
Patti, Ant, clindamycin, and guest: Thank you for suggestions on how to get set up with automatic e-mail. I partially understand the problem now, but am not yet into application of a solution. Letting it rest for now but may have related and specific questions later. Betsy
