A little scary, but not real scary....... it felt at first like I was on a boat out in the ocean with alot of rolling motion. Then it got even stronger and I felt like I was out on the high high seas in an even smaller boat! But I've felt worse ones than this one before.
It only lasted about 30-45 seconds and there've been 27 aftershocks, the biggest one being 3.6, but I've only felt one small one. The siesmologist is on the news right now and she's saying we should look at this one as a drill, cuz the big one WILL happen. It was only a 5.8 but there was also a 3.9 earlier this morning a little bit further north. She said this one was a "thrust" motion and I guess you could say that's about what it felt like too.
Who else here on the board felt it....... anyone? I know I'm not the only one who lives in So Cal!

LOS ANGELES - A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway and triggering some precautionary evacuations. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The jolt was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and slightly in Las Vegas.
The 11:42 a.m. quake was initially estimated at 5.8 by the U.S. Geological Survey but was revised downward to 5.4. More than a dozen aftershocks quickly followed, the largest estimated at magnitude-3.8.
The quake was centered 29 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles near the San Bernardino County city of Chino Hills, and was estimated to be about 8 miles below the earth's surface.
"It will certainly cause cracked plaster and broken windows, but probably not structural damage," USGS seismologist Kate Hutton said.
The magnitude-5.9 Whittier Narrows quake in 1987 was the last big shake in that area. That quake heavily damaged older buildings and houses in communities east of Los Angeles.
The Governor's Office of Emergency Services had received no damage or injury reports, said spokesman Kelly Huston in Sacramento.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said there were no immediate reports of damage or injury in Los Angeles. San Bernardino and San Diego counties also had no immediate reports of damage.
Buildings swayed in downtown Los Angeles for several seconds.
Workers quickly evacuated some office buildings.
"It was dramatic. The whole building moved and it lasted for a while," said Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, who was in the sheriff's suburban Monterey Park headquarters east of Los Angeles.
As strongly as it was felt, the quake was far less powerful than the magnitude-6.7 Northridge earthquake that badly damaged the region on Jan. 17, 1994. That quake was the last damaging temblor in Southern California. It killed 72 people, injured more than 9,000 and caused $25 billion in damage in the metropolitan area.
No electrical outages were reported in Los Angeles due to the quake, said Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Kim Hughes.
In Orange County, about 2000 detectives were attending a conference on gangs at a Marriott hotel in Anaheim when a violent jolt shook the main conference room.
Mike Willever, who was at the hotel, said, "First we heard the ceiling shaking, then the chandelier started to shake, then there was a sudden movement of the floor."
Chris Watkins, from San Diego, said he previously felt several earthquakes, but "that was one of the worst ones."
Delegates and guests at a cluster of hotels near the Disneyland resort spilled into the streets immediately after the quake.
Huston, the governor's OES spokesman, said officials in Sacramento were on a conference call when the earthquake struck, discussing the availability of firefighting equipment with a Southern California emergency management team.
"They felt it. We could actually hear some shaking on the phone. Now we've completely shifted gears — we're on earthquakes," Huston said.
Joseph Maddalena, who runs the historical documents and memorabilia dealer Profiles in History, was on the phone in his office in Calabasas, near Malibu, when the earthquake struck. He quickly put down the phone and ran to check on his 14-year-old son who had come to work with him as he prepared for a Thursday auction of 1,100 pieces of Hollywood movie memorabilia.
"Our building shook pretty good," he said after discovering his son and his employees were unharmed and the building was fine.
"The window in my office kind of bowed out but it's all right now. Everything is fine," he said.
The damage created by an earthquake depends greatly on where it hits. A 7.1 quake — much stronger than Northridge — hit the Mojave Desert in 1999 but caused only a few injuries and no deaths.
California is one of the world's most seismically active regions. More than 300 faults crisscross the state, which sits atop two of Earth's major tectonic plates, the Pacific and North American plates. About 10,000 quakes each year rattle Southern California alone, although most of them are too small to be felt.

Ok, I'm back now. The phone lines went out, both land lines and cells. They were down for quite awhile! So far we've had broken glass in some buildings, concrete walls have fallen and we've had only 5 minor injuries, so pretty much all is well. A Macy's dept. store had some broken water lines which flooded 3 levels of the store and an older Hotel in L.A. had some minor structural damage. We did have power outages to 5,000 homes unlike the article said, but there are only 100 without power right now.
One really wierd thing tho, when I got off the computer and was walking into the living room, my head started feeling like it was getting real tight. Like my scalp was being sucked in towards my brain. It didn't last long but I started to wonder if it had anything to do with the seismic waves?? I've had that feeling before, like when I was in my friends new convertable car that day and my head was in the wind. It was alot worse then than it was today, but it's the strangest feeling. It's gotta be morg related wouldn't ya think?
Anyhoo, we're either gonna have some more to follow or nothin....... who knows, eh? I myself have a feeling that the biggy is drawing nigh! Think I'll buy me some roller skates, a loooong rope, a boat and some kind of parachute so I can fly over the hills out here....... also pack a few lunches too, and get me a stocked mini bar!

Felt the roll down here in La Quinta Bannanny.
Seemed to last longer than most. But I'm up on the third floor, (for now anyway).
I attribute most pulling, pains and movement in the head to Morg's. They do control the scalp.
Have you jumped yet??? Lets go do it together, perhaps Sept or Oct it will be cooler. Not that the jump is warm, its not. But wearing their suits and packing that gear is quite warm.

Hey, glad everyone's ok. I don't think I'd like that. Tornados are bad enough, but to worry about the ground opening up?!!!!! Yikes!!

Haven't jumped yet cyn....... only cuz I can't afford it right now, but I sure do wanna do it! You wanna jump with me? It would be so much fun....... I wanna go over the ocean. Well, not right over it of course, but close to it anyways! I looked into it and around the Santa Barbara area it costs about 185.00, but that's jumping attached to an instructor. I wanna go by myself and that's a little higher in price, not too much more tho. They say you can't drink any alcohol I think at least 2 hrs or so before you jump....... I'd probably like to have a good stiff one before I went! If you really think you wanna go with me, let me know and I'll start savin up some moola! We'd probably end up bein human chemtrails!
love ya ~~ bannannas

If I can get physically stronger in the next few months, I most definitely will.
No, alcohol might relax you, and keep your head together, but its not advised. Besides, afterwards that drink tastes soooooooo good. If I remember correctly, Perris did not have anything but beer. Still it quenches that thirst.
I agree, don't jump attached to an instructor. You want to walk away knowing YOU accomplished it yourself.
The first jump, they hold your wrist until you signal that you are going to pull your cord, they make sure your hand finds the cord, then they are gone. Thats bad enough, but attached, yuk. We went in at 8:00 and jumped at noon, so its a whole day thing including driving.
You might also want to save money for a jumper to take your video. I have several videos that I used to watch whenever I needed a confidence spike. You get to pick from several songs to go on the video, naturally my fav was "Free Falling by Tom Petty".
Yes, I think it would also be a good idea to know when that area is usually sprayed, and try to avoid it. We want a warm, rather still, day. Vision has to be 5 miles, I think??? Of course that probably depends on the particular airport.
It would mean a lot to me, just to have something to look forward to. The only physical thing about it is carrying that pair of shoots on your back while on the ground, then after stepping down you must gather it up and haul it back to the pickup truck.
oooooowwwww, I'm already getting excited. It's a date sister!

How cool is this!!!! I didn't know you'd even jumped before! Now I feel even more excited just knowing you'll be there with me! So how much all together did it cost you, minus the video if it's alot more? But if not I'll go for it, cuz I'd love to have that to watch! If you know where we're gonna go, send me the link in my email, k?
I get my check on the 1st and I'll start stickin some $$$ away. In fact it doesn't matter if I'm broke the rest of the month, I'm doin this! Oooooowwwwww is right! We can't back out on this now ya know! If you don't have the strength to carry your pack, I'll come back after dropping mine off and do it for ya! Yep, you're on sister!!!
Wow, I was cryin when I started readin the board cuz I miss my dogs. You lifted my spirits up, thanks cyn. I know they'd want me to be happy cuz I know how much it hurt them whenever I was sad.
We're goin skydivin y'all!

Ok cyn, I just had an awakening from a friend of mine about the skydiving. Are they gonna ask about my state of health or anything. I've had spinal surgery and I have those 2 spinal diseases and I also have 4 steel anchors in my right shoulder holding it together. I myself don't give a sh*t cuz I really wanna do this, even if I can't walk afterwards!
What do you think about it all?

But with what I have goin on outside of morgs, I guess I'd better get real. I sure am lookin forward to Heaven! Maybe then I'll get to fullfill my dream to fly!
