I'm dragging this old thread out from several pages back. (This post ties in with the GM Tinkering thread)
After reading this week's discoveries on the hazards of eating genetically modified foods, I was thinking about Leaky Gut Syndrome / systemic fungal infections throughout the body / Candida.
Some people have found reduced itching through anti-candida diet. I'm one.
So . . . I am not sure where I am going with this, and it's kind of a chicken or the egg question:
"If gm foods sit in the gut of someone with leaky gut syndrome, doesn't it have an increased chance of infecting the rest of the body with bad stuff?"
"Or, could gm foods sitting in someone's gut cause Candida/systemic fungal/Leaky Gut Syndrome?"
This is my layman's thinking behind this. Leaky Gut Syndrome, or a yeast/mold/fungal infection throughout the body is when the intestine has stuff sitting in it and it "grows" through the intestine walls and throughout the body.
I think that's why when I ate something sugary or yeasty I would get itchy scalp symptoms. The anti-Candida diet took me a while to get right, but it seemed to have good results in reducing the itching.
Given the news this week that genetically modified foods have such bad effects on people, wouldn't people with a systemic candida infection (which starts in the intestine?) be more severely affected?
I used to eat a lot of tofu, and drink a lot of soy milk in an effort to be healthy, but now soy, along with many other foods, appears to be genetically modified and possibly unhealthy.
Just turning thoughts over in my head, but no conclusion.
