Does anyone have this brownish stringey elastic debris in the corner of your eyes? My cat gets the brown goo, which I call "sleep". I get blue goo in the corners of my eyes.

Does anyone have this brownish stringey elastic debris in the corner of your eyes? My cat Madison has had that this year, and it made his eyes run. He's never had it before. The vet prescribed sulfates and dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment (neopoly desameth. probably is the generic name), It helped him right away, even after one dose. He still gets the brown stringy stuff (and not as much running) and it doesn't seem to irritate his eyes as it had at first. I notice this stringy brown "stuff" on the cover of the exhaust of my microwave oven. I have been wondering what it is. Anyone have an idea? My first thought was more toxic things or perhaps a new pollen.
