What a nightmare this has become :(I am a 42 year year old mother of 2.....4 months ago I developed severe itching in my hair...and biting on my body....my doc glanced through my hair and saw nothing but insisted I have lice so I was treated with malathion and elimite...no itching for 2 days-then it came back with a venegeance...went back to her,and her new diagnosis was "nerves"....at any given time I can fill up a bowl of water, run a lice comb through my hair and fill it up with black specks....these also fall off of me,I find them everywhere!I also have the crawling sensations....I can keep it under control somewhat by using the enzyme spray on myself. Just recently I tried "Olive leaf extract" and it is amazing-it practically stopped the horrendous itching-but as soon as it wears off the biting continues...I have a wonderful husband who is very good to me...except he thinks this is probably in my head....when this whole ordeal started,I finally got him to check in my hair, which he did,for about 5 seconds--and said "You are fine"...so I have endured this on my own and with Gods help but it is almost too much at times....I feel I could make a significant improvement with parasite cleanses, herbs, maybe silver...and it isnt like we dont have the money-but hubby controls the money and remember--He thinks I am imagining this...he hasnt a clue what I suffer every day!So here I am....praying for a healing cause I feel hopeless without treatment....

Valerie, collect some on some clear adhesive tape. If you have a microscope put them on a slide and examine them!
I had a parasite come through the skin in my neck several weeks back, but having fingers that were almost crippled with the effects of Lyme, I lost it before I could get it on a slide.
Also, when you next go to a Doctor, you can take the collected parasites with you for him/her to examine.

Hi Valerie, Hi Farmerjohn....
I know exactly how you feel Valerie, it all started for me the same, I treated for lice for years. First thinking I was not doing a thorough job and then thinking I did not attack everything, like the stuffed animals...... I would keep retreating.... After about 3 times of using the chemicals from the pharmacy, I found out how damaging these can be to the body, So I went to tea tree and then neem and lots of nitpicking by hand with my daughter...... and really did the big cleans..... (but I did find lice in my daughters hair)...... But still to this day I suffer........ it all started back in 1998. I no longer beleive it is lice, unless they have played with nature and created some tiny version of it..... I have the specks to (am the same age as you).... and so related to what you are going through, as my husband is not supportive, he doesn't say much, but his not wanting to know what I am constantly researching, his lack of interest in the person he married and the problem they have (says a lot in itself)..... mind you he itches more than I do....
I certainly would not be taking a speciman to the doctors (sorry farmer john, I disagree on that one), so many doctors are text book doctors - and the text book tells them that samples brought in are a sign of DOP (delusional of parasites)......... Perhaps you could say you tried what they asked you to try, to have it come back a couple of days later a lot worse and that it may be something else... It is hard to do a skin scraping from the scalp, but they could look under a woods light for fungal infection and I think lice would even show up in this (if it is lice)..... Just stand firm that you have an itch problem and until they come up with some more tests to rule out things, like fungal infections, allergic reactions etc - they have no right to just guess that this is in your mind......
Try not to strip the body with harsh chemicals and try working on a good diet, I like the Olive leaf extract to, as well as cats claw (for building the immunity)....... Farmer John and others are having results with Salt and Vitamin C in high doses....
If you have not already tried vinegar in your hair (it works for me, most of the time)..... also Clean hairbrushes combs regularly...
There are lots of good ideas posted, but I'd say try and stay as al la natural as you can......
Some of the al la natural ideas are cheap and probably already in the cupboard..... Bet you could try the Vitamin C and salt....... and get away with it with the hubby....
I am really sorry for you and your daughter, sorry you have to be here trying to find something that fits in to your itch cycle because no one has an answer for you....... Where these people get off trying to say it is in your head......... really grates on me..... I've tried telling myself that it is in my head, tried ignoring it, tried to avoid scratching etc... But it doesn't work........ WHY because the itch is real.... I am lucky mine is not constantly there (well it is but I think I have it under control, most of the time)...... it has flare ups and I am going through a bad one at the moment....... If this was in my head it wouldn't have a cycle....... It would be there all the time, because I am just a mad idiot who likes to itch ..... YEAH RIGHT.........
Maybe you could just talk to hubby about wanting to do better for your body, build your immunity, eat well, exercise and a few little supplements....... If you put it to him that way, maybe he would be all for supporting your supplements.....
I don't beleive there is an instant cure, but many of these ideas have worked for people where they can function and get on with life....... and get relief from that dreaded itch.....
wishing you well and keep in touch......... debbie

Dear Valerie try rinsing your hair with whie vinegar leave it on for ten minutes but be very very careful that you don't get it in your eyes. I would also suggest that you incoporat e raw garlic into your diet along with manuka honey cider vinegar and cider vinegar. I know exactly what your going through both my husband (who has left me) and my daughter that I love more than anything in the world think that I am DOP and that really hurts. Try the above things Valerie. Give them 2 to 4 weeks to work. All the very best. Roberta.

Dear Valerie it is early morning I meant manuka honey cider vinegar and safflower oil. Not sunflower oil. Safflower oil has more vitamin E in it. You could also try vitamin E capsules. Best Roberta.

Hi Valerie, Sorry to hear of your problems and the issue with your husband's disbelief. I think some of the advice already given is very sound. I too would be careful about taking samples to your doctor - unless the doctor is already sympathetic and very open minded because too often is is simply viewed as a symptom of DOP. I very much regret having taken specimens along.
I think you should try to focus on building up your immune system and read the information about diet on the supplements thread because diet is very important. Some of the things Roberta Louise has mentioned will help and the salt and c is a good idea but take it easy - slow and gentle.
Kyolic Garlic 103 has been recommended and the whole family could take this. If you are going the route of subterfuge then introduce things gradually and for everyone. Echinecea also builds up the immune system and essential oils in the bath are lovely - apart from being of benefit.
Sea salt baths are great - maybe introduce this to the household instead of bath oil.
However, maybe try to open your husband's eyes up a bit as ideally it would be better to have his support. Can you leave the bath water with the debris to let him see the black specs - over and over? Or wear white and have white bed linen and just ask if he has noticed this 'new phenomenon' in your house.
