mold-help.org/content/view/643/Here is a synopsis of article. Mycoprotein is a product described as a healthy protein alternative that was introduced to the American Market by Quorn Foods. The manufacturer of mycoprotein is Marlow Foods, which is wholly owned by drug giant AstraZeneca. Quorn Foods packaging describes mycoprotein as “mushroom in origin”. However, in Marlow Food’s application to the FDA, it is described as "the processed cellular mass that is obtained from the filamentous fungus Fusarium venenatum strain PTA-2684". Fusarium venenatum is known to produce mycotoxins. ( ‘venenatum’ is Latin for venomous). The Center for Science Public Interest (CSPI) informed the FDA that 5% of the people they surveyed who had eaten Quorn products; experienced vomiting, hives, or other symptoms. (That’s higher than the percentage of people allergic to peanuts, dairy, and other major food allergens.) Instead of quickly pulling mycoprotein off the market the FDA is currently leaving consumers exposed to this dangerous food. Between the funky processed food that we don’t need to eat and all the comfort food that aggravates Candida, I guess I’m left to olives in a Martooni. No-- not suppose to have olives – make that a lemon twist!!!! Cheers -- Sparky

Frustrated as this makes me, I'm not surprised. And yet, vitamins ( many of which at the most won't do anything to us) are going to be regulated. Yea, we all know why too! Reminds me of an old boss who was letting an "entry-level" employee dictate everything he did, just because of what she "gave" him and had "on" him.

I just learned that Kraft is the largest food manufacturer in the world. You know who owns Kraft? Philip Morris--the tobacco company which lied to the world for 40+ years that tobacco wasn't bad for your health, remember them?
What makes anyone think they'd be honest about what they put in their food?
