The scalp is my main issue. Double-follicles. Soft clear gel-like stuff at the base of the hair, under the scalp. Emerging as a casing that hardens, darkens, and then somehow becomes a tannish grouping of fibrous "spider leggy looking" stuff. Lately, white fibrous stuff instead, and sometimes other stuff. All are SO SMALL that you can only see them with magnification. But, you can feel itchiness or a stinging sensation. And other stuff, but the magnification I have only goes to 100x so I am not sure what the other stuff is without a better look.
And, I am trying to avoid spending time looking. It doesn't make a difference for me to do that - I don't have an science background so what's the point?
I used to be miserable all day and night with the itching and crawling sensation. I think I am 4 or 5 months into the anti-candida diet and taking supplements suggested on these websites. That has reduced the itching and crawling sensation tremendously. It takes a while to do the anti-candida diet right.
Get your immune system up. I avoided chemicals and kept everything clean and dry. I used the theory that this could be mold / fungus / yeast related as a base that lets this infection / disease grow or thrive.
I try to make the conditions in my body less of a "food source" or "growth medium" by eating healthier and helping my immune system get better.
I don't have the body lesions, but there are a variety of symptoms. I think the one thing in common, if you look with a magnifier, is the fiber - and other things like double hairs from the same place, a kind of pseudo-skin, and sometimes people experience nasal and ear symptoms.
Just getting rid of the itching and crawling sensations made my life livable. The anti-Candida diet and supplements helped a lot.
Oh, and I've decided to keep the hair short. Saves time. (I tell myself that it makes me look thinner and younger . . . ha ha ha!)

I still have very reduced itching and crawling symptoms, but still have some strange things on the scalp - not as bad as before though. Here is some reading from various threads. skinmystic's comments on anti-candida diet: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rash&thread=1140218535&page=1my supplements along with anti-candida diet: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rash&thread=1136234602&page=2some comments including anti-candida diet: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rash&thread=1141783633&page=2anti-candida comments: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rash&thread=1138120998&page=1and some supplements UKguy is trying: lymebusters.proboards39.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rash&thread=1138850437&page=2Hopefully, anyone else who is finding success (or not) will share their supplements or thoughts too. And, please check the supplement section of this message board - see jwf and Penny, and others for supplement ideas. Also, Days of Wine and Roses website for the section of people who have done better - their tips are included too. Books on YEAST INFECTIONS, FUNGAL INFECTIONS and ANTI-CANDIDA DIET to get are helpful on how to do the exact diet, what foods to avoid, and you can get them economically on Amazon or by checking www.addall.com. The websites aren't as comprehensive, but would help as a start. I've listed some good ones here, but a search didn't turn up the post. Basically, because there are different manifestations on different people, you have to find the people who have the same type of problem as you, and read what has worked and not worked for them - and always, just choose what common sense tells you is something healthy to do. Best Wishes, QH

Ohhhhh the Scalp has been my main problem as well - my doctor just did a visual and felt around my scalp area and told me it is a mold fungus - He gave me a script for Nizoral 2% and since been using it in my hair or head does not feel like a 100pd. weight anymore- But when I shampoo with the Nizoral I get really bad headaches - I hope that means its working! Also, get the double strand hair on my arms and "well" Down there! Does anyone else get the Double hair other places besides the scalp too? Have a good day! Patti2
