TinyURL
Have you ever been reading the "Most Recent Posts" option and noticed that while normally, all posts are lined up nicely but occasionally, along comes one that throws the entire line-up off balance? You have to use your arrows to scroll across the page, just so you can read that person's message.
When we post URLs, or links to other websites, the board is set up to generally wraparound any links that are too large for one line in the message window (you can tell which links are too long by using the Preview function).
When a link you are using gets a bit lengthy, copy the entire link and place your curser in the TinyURL window at the top of the page, then paste the link there and click on "Make TinyURL". It will take you to a page that first shows your original link and how many characters it has, then below that will be your new link which is much shorter. Copy this new link and then paste it into your message window.
Most people like to see the info contained in the links before clicking on them, so don't use this function unless it's necessary. Additionally, posting a normal, regular-sized link first and then a TinyURL beneath it is a waste of the function itself and defeats the purpose.
If you ever see that an Admin has edited your post and you don't know why, chances are it had a lengthy link in it that was throwing off all the other messages and we changed your link to a TinyURL.
Something else that can throw your message out-of-line with the rest is when you write a letter, number, or symbol in succession for many lines, without using any spaces. Insert a space before you get to the end of each line in your message window and this will no longer be a problem.
