Hiya it's spec
Well, it's pretty certain that these large uterine fibroids I am lucky enough to have are causing me a bunch of pain.
Would have been nice to be told of the likelihood of this condition when the radiologist caught it in 2000!!
But, I never saw the notation until 2007 when a second MRI was done, detailing "myamotamous uterus was partially seen, similiarly to 2000 results.."
Again in 2007 the spine/pain doctors did not suggest this was on the report. I could go on about all the doctors who failed to mention the possibility that this was the source of my pain, but I'll quit my beef here.
I am curious if there is a connection between Lyme disease and the formation of this abnormal muscle tissue that can grow outside, but attached to the uterus "subserous".. in the uterine wall "serous" or inside the uterus.
Mostly these tumours are benign, mine is.
We have a bunch of family history of fibroids on the maternal side. My grandmother had 7 children. When she was pregnant with her second, she had a fibroid so large that they thought she was to have twins! She probably suffered with fibroids her entire life.
I assumed that I did not have this type of muscle tissue because I did not have pain in my breasts, as do my mother and sister.
So, now after probably 20 or more years of pain in the right quadrant severe enough that I thought they could just take my right leg off please.. I learn this is possibly the major problem.
Ladies, they find this easily with pelvic ultrasounds and is not expensive to be done. Find a good gynecologist if you have any problems from the waist down is my advice and press for an ultrasound.
I am having what is called a "subtotal" hysterectomy. They can do this laproscopically. That will be the end of uterine fibroids for me!
anyway, please let me know your thoughts..
ARE UTERINE FIBROIDS HEREDITARY, OR could this be just one more manifestation of LYME?
thanks,
spec
