Yep, always saw a connection. Leishmaniasis was the first thing I thought I may have and it matched my symptoms. This was PREVIOUS to my learning that I had fibers. I was only going with what symptoms I had in 2005 and everytime I tried to match my health to a disease leishmaniasis was on the top of the list.
It seemed impossible cuz it was only in the Middle East and transmitted by a sand fly. I was exposed to sewage Flies when the sewage came into my apartment. Even after they cleaned it up.....these little knats were flying around and I have always wondered if they bit me at night.

Oh, at the time, I did tell one of my doctors but when I did,....I added that I knew it was impossible but I knew it matched my symptoms. We both shook our heads and said NO WAY it could be this cuz it was from the middle east.
I even agreed with this Doctor .....ONLY at that time. I have come to learn that I could have ANYTHING. Yep.......ANYTHING!!

Kmarie, seriously.....I can't get this out of my head either. (Leishmaniasis) because as you said (the symptoms) are identical.
And...there's the internal and the cutaneous.
And...if it's not treated, it only causes more havoc on the body.
I figure (since it's spreading in Texas) there's not much to keep this out of anywhere else, since flies fly.

What's ironic is that I got bit by a sand flea or fly in Honduras and Galveston , Texas. I have been sick ever since. My boyfriend has these purple swollen lesion that looks bacterial in nature and leaves a scar. He was in Iraq and was with me in Galveston. I suggested Lesh to my infectious disease doc and she said not possible that I would have swollen legs and feet.

Yes, I agree. There are different forms of Lesh. I was never tested. I believe it is Lyme or ?...Still searching for an answer and a physician whom will care enough to find out what is going on. I agree the Derms need to wake up because mine just got real far away from me , asking me questions, running to the internet and then stating it was in my head. He was faculty and the Chief of Dermatology. SCARY!
