Recently I went to the podiatrist due to a lump on my 2nd toe. It's trying to cross over my big toe, & now, it's numb. The doc was great, & e were having fun, & laughing. I told her about morgellons because I didn't for see any conflicts with delusions, & hammer toe, which she said I had. What she told me was either I spend my life in pain, or according to how bad it hurt, wear large shoes that didn't rub, etc. or have an operation. The operation outcome would be 50/50. That means I would have a 50% chance they might have to remove my toe, and we all know, remove toe = more money. If you have hammer toe, do they remove your toes? -I mean the hammer toe. If that's not true, mentioning morgellons did have an effect on our conversation, & she decided to freak me out? I'm clueless. Anyone know? Love hugs, freaky

Freaky, I don't know if she was or not (making fun) I think it sounds more like she was being extreme to the MAX though. There are many things you can do to HELP your toe stay in place (as I just saw on the internet after looking up hammer toe). Slip this little gizmo into your shoe, and slip your tootsie (big toe) right into this and VIOLA! Toes in place ;D www.footsmart.com/Hammertoes-Hammer-Toe-Treatment.aspxPS...don't even consider "having your toe removed" when you can strap those suckers down! ;D

OMG...also.
You know what? My sis has been telling me how her shoulders keep riding up. I wonder if this is the same thing happening??!!
She said she is more than disturbed and sick and upset with both her shoulders (she said it's like when you shrug your shoulders, how they're high up), she kids and says they're up around her ears, but what's happening is, she wakes up in the morning, and her shoulders are WAY UP like in a frozen shugged position!
And during the day, she says they're up there too (around her ears) kidding and exaggerating, but she said she's going to get something with weights to strap and hold them down during the day cause it's driving her crazy - and she's VERY afraid...which I am too for her.
It's almost like the muscles or tendons are being pulled in!

Freaky,
Please DON't have surgery unless it's last resort. Wait as long as you can and just research. Any surgery also brings down the immune system requiring it to kick into the "HEALING" mode. And that would leave morgellons free to roam for a while.
JMO, cuz I care.

Yeah I agree....... you need to keep your toe so you can still insert foot into mouth! Ha! Just kidding there freakerdeeks! One of my toes is folding under the toe it's next to and they almost seem glued together now, so I just figure I'll soon have webbed feet just like a duck and then I'll be able to hold myself up in the ocean better....... I'm so intelligent.
Course mine doesn't hurt tho like yours does either. I'm sorry it does freakers and I wish I could fix it. I was just havin some fun with ya cuz that's what you and me usually do. But I still don't think you should have any kind of surgery cuz it could make things alot worse, like Kmarie says. Why don't you get a second opinion maybe and don't mention morgs at all? It just sounds awfully drastic to me to have your toe removed plus then you'd be even weirder than you are! Kidding again, you know I love you a whole big bunch and I'd be lost without ya! So I'll be serious now, get another opinion if you can and then try those things toni found before letting her cut off your big sweet toe, k?

Dear Freaky. Since you mentioned that you and her were already laughing and having a good time, well, lots of surgeries have 50/50 odds on the outcome. Sometimes it helps/sometimes it doesn't make much of a difference. If she joked about amputating your toe, she was only kidding around. If that was all she said and did, I don't see it as making fun of you over morgellons. Did her general tone change after you mentioned the morgs? I hope you can get some relief for your toe, one way or another.

Thanks guys. Toni, how sweet of you too research this for me. I did a little. I just can't believe we are so antiquated we don't have anything to replace the chopped off part with, like a little metal extension with fake looking skin around it, maybe some rhinestones for the toenail. Personally, I just really think it's a wad of fibers because I did pick one out, but that means nothing when you contemplate who came first, the chicken, or the egg. Also, I've made many "kill the lump" attempts with frankincense, & DMSO with no relief, so it may be Hammer Toe. Thought I was too young for such a disgusting problem causing a lump to stick up through the leather of my high heels. Toni, I was going to call her back to prescribe my toe paraphernalia so insurance would pay part. I'll probably suggest your finding Toni. Thank you so much, you sweetie. As for you sis Toni, the best thing she could do is lift weights for her shoulder. The only way she could make it worse is if she didn't warm up her pecs first, and always. Teller, thanks so much for your input. I don't think the dr. was kidding about the surgery. They cut the toe off at the knuckle. I told her I wanted the operation to remove the lump, but no one was going to be chopping my toe off. I talked about Morgellons early on in the conversation. It's hard to read people sometimes, but we weren't actually laughing the whole time. Bannannay, you're hysterical. That's why everyone, and I love you so much. If anything happens though, and I had to get my toe chopped off, I want you to know, I'd save it for you. I'd like for you to have a part of me always. It would symbolize our never ending friendship. You need to do something about your toe too! It's not going to go away on it's own, and it doesn't sound like a pretty sight to me. My Dad had the same problem with his toe, and with adequate paraphernalia, he fixed it. Kmarie, no matter how much pain I'm in, I think I'm a little too vain to chop my toe off. I thought for sure you would know if that's a standard procedure for hammer toe, as the last course of events. I still need to do some more research. I don't know exactly what's in that lump, but you're exactly right. The morgs would have the news spread in no time that there was a big party going on in freaky's 2nd toe. Thanks for caring.

Oh how cool would that be? I could put your toe on a chain and wear it around my neck for all time....... just like the foot with a surfer bump on it that I used to have on a chain looooong ago in my kiddy days. I wanted everyone to think I was a big time surfer, but they saw right thru me then, the same way most peeps do these days when I want them to think I'm normal. So yep freaks, your toe would be my crowning glory!

I read this yesterday but was so flabbergasted I couldnt organize my thoughts. I went from disbelief to disgust to outrage. So I thought I'd calm down and reply then. Well it wouldnt leave me alone. I've been stewing over it till now Im boiling. First, why did she zoom in on the LAST option? Is she unaware that there are MANY less severe (surgical and non) procedures to consider?? Did she reassure you that amputation was the worst case scenario? Did she tell you why any reputable podiatrist will try EVERYTHING before cutting off a toe? She musta missed the class about balance and toes. IF she was kidding she is either twisted or insensitive. A joke is only funny if you get it. How dare she mess with your head like that. INCOMPETENT AND IGNORANT Oh this makes me wanna spit!! sorry for the rant

Freaky, I used to work with a woman that had hammertoes on both feet. All her toes were affected except the big toes. She had simple surgery that successfully straightened them out by clipping the tendons underneath. There are different types of hammertoe surgeries, and if amputation was brought up in anything less than a joke, it would be a strong signal to move on to a doctor with good credentials.
