My fingernails are a nightmare. Not nail per se but nailbeds and surrounding area. The teeny hairlike fibers come out and at times (OFTEN) even when I cant see anything it feels like something is creeping out. Well I went to order the stuff Trish sells. when I saw the jar I felt like I was kicked in stomach. Why oh why a jar instead of a bottle. A jar risks contamination every time its opened. Anything dipped into cream could contaminate it. A bottle seems safer. Im so deflated.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way kiki! But I'm the same way and I know exactly what you mean. I've bought some expensive creams that have come in jars only to end up throwing them out. After only a short amount of time had passed and I'd go to unscrew the lid, I'd get zapped. That's why I don't even bother with those kinds of containers anymore.
But one thing that seems to work really well for me with my nails, cuticles and the all around finger actually is to rub olive oil into them. I also burn the edges of my nails and around the cuticle with a lighter (as weird as that sounds) and it works great! But then I'm kinda looney so I'm not suggesting that one to anyone, just letting you know what works for me. If I could still link my pics here (can't until Simpload fixes it) I'd show you a pic of my nail. I know I posted it here a short while back but I'm not sure which thread it was on so I can't link you to that either. I have fibers growing WITHIN the nail tho and so far nothing has taken those away, but the olive oil keeps the feeling of them when they start being active at bay alot more than when I don't use it.

Maybe if alot of us have that problem she would consider switching to bottle. It may seem like a small thing but at the moment its just one of many. You did give me a smile though. I do the lighter thing also. I've also used scissors and cut the air around fingers. Cant say that it helped though.

To avoid contamination and easy to apply, I buy this (which is Monistat cream in a spray..... Miconazole) I spray it on my nails and it is the ONLY thing that keeps them normal looking. I personally like the Powder spray, but there is liquid too. If you get a lesion. Spray this on and it goes away fast and stops itching! When I moved into my apartment with new carpeting, this stuff was a frickin lifesaver. The new place really aggervated my condition. GENERIC NAME: miconazole BRAND NAME: Monistat; Femizol; Vagistat; M-Zole; Micatin; Lotrimin DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Miconazole is an anti-fungal medication related to fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), and clotrimazole (Lotrimin, Mycelex). It is used either on the skin or in the vagina for fungal infections. Miconazole was approved by the FDA in 1974. GENERIC AVAILABLE: yes, for some formulations PRESCRIPTION: no for most formulations; yes (Monistat-Derm) PREPARATIONS: Vaginal suppositories: 200 mg (Monistat-3), 100 mg (Monistat-7); Vaginal cream 2% (Monistat-7; Femizol-M); Topical cream 2% (Monistat; Monistat-Derm). Vaginal suppositories: 100 mg with topical cream 2% (Monistat 7; M-Zole 7); 200 mg with topical cream 2% (Vagistat; Monistat 3; M-Zole 3); 1200 mg with topical cream 2% (Monistat 1). Ointment 2% (Tetterine); Powder 2% (Lotrimin AF); solution 2% (Fungoid Tincture); Liquid Spray 2% (Lotrimin AF); Gel 2% (Zeasorb-AF) STORAGE: All formulations should be stored at room temperature, 15-30°C (59-86°F). PRESCRIBED FOR: Miconazole is used to treat vaginal infections due to Candida albicans (yeast) and several fungal infections of the skin, including tinea versicolor, tinea pedis ("athlete's foot"), tinea cruris ("jock itch") and tinea corporis ("ringworm"). If you have any "insect" troubles, you won't after this cuz the bugs won't be attracted to you anymore. For fungal skin infections, the topical cream is applied as a thin layer to cover the affected skin and surrounding area, usually twice daily. The hands should be washed before and after application. DRUG INTERACTIONS: There are no known drug interactions with vaginal or topical miconazole.

BTW, I can't stand jars either and won't buy them. I can't even wear foundation make up anymore, cuz as soon as the lid is open, the "AIR" infects the make up right away and it seems like you would keep reinfecting yourself with a jar product or those foundation bottles.
Even squeeze tubes get the morgies from the air.

Great info K! Thanks! With me, it seems anything I touch gets contaminated, not just contamination from the air. Wish I could say different but that's how it works with me. But I do appreciate sprays with a lid!

I was in NO WAY slamming Trish. I hope it goes without saying that I am deeply grateful for any genuine concern and efforts to help us. I was just venting a frustrating observation. I dont recall alot of discussion about nail/hand issues so didnt know if it was common or just me. Since Trish thankfully doesnt have this she may not realize its a problem for some. I would gladly pay extra if she can offer that option. I have used gloves, cotters, etc but it stands to reason that the less exposure the better. Will try some of your ideas Kmarie--thanks!

EVEN the lenses on my glasses have biofilm growing on the part that occasionally touches my cheek. This is just awful having to think like : "MONK". I miss the days when I could wear mascara and one tube would last ............well really as long as I wanted or till it became dry. Now, if I had to wear Mascara, It would be a ONE time application and throw the rest away. Have you all every wondered about Celebrities? and in particular the make up artist? How is it that they are not cross contaminating to a point? I know they use new applicators, but to have all the colors available for a variety of celebs......... I just think it would somehow get contaminated. Just like if you go have your legs waxed..... it's a bucket of wax and yes they use new applicators.....but they do double dip and that does put bacteria into the big pot for the next person. Hair Salons don't always wash those capes for a haircut!
