Does anyone know of anyone developing psychosis or Schizophrenia from Morgellons? In truth,,, yes, in a way,, but not at all what is commonly defined as being Psychotic or Schizophrenic..... Like most mental disorders Psychosis or Schizophrenia is due to a mental defect at birth, developing during growth, at some level of development, to some degree of severity,, or due to serious damage caused to the brain.. Any psychosis connected to the beginning stages of morgellons would be the result of the human brains "natural" built-in fail safe switches, and would only react as needed,, but "in no way" should it be confused with any mentally developed condition, nor is it a permanent condition either.. These switches only come into play on a temporary bases, when it is essential to the mind and bodies basic survival,, depending upon the period of human development and normal social understanding.. The onset of morgellons can be so severely traumatic that it's just far too much for the human mind to handle,, in our current stage of human development and social understanding where this kind of thing only happens in the movies,, not in real life!!!! In other words... If you lived in the time where mans social understanding freely accepted the existence of, dragons, trolls, vampires, werewolves, wizards, witches, curses, and evil-spells could be cast upon you at any time!! The onset of morgellons would be terrifying, but none the less, viewed as some kind of evil spell and would exist as being possible.. In this day and time,, what happens at the onset of morgellons is just "not possible" within the scope of our understanding,, yet there it is!!! Horrifying and as real as it gets!!! When the mind detects a threat to its over-all stability, it may change what you actually see into something else it thinks is more acceptable and safer for you.. The problem is that the mind really don't understand what is acceptable for us until after presenting its altered version to us, and waiting for our reaction to it,, so what the mind shows you can often be worst than what is actually there,, thus it will keep changing what you see, hoping to get a calmer and more acceptable reaction. The minds natural defense mechanism may come into play for some people at the onset of morgellons "as a coping measure" but once the initial shock is over and the person accepts what is going on as being real, the brain stops interfering with there perception, because the issue is a physical problem that needs to be addressed sooner than later!! For example,,, if the brain takes a tragic event as a threat to a persons over-all survival "and it does not have to be addressed at that time, as a physical illness or injury would have to be" the brain may prevent the persons ability to recall anything about it for decades at a time,, then allow them to slowly recall the event when the person is stronger and more able to cope with it. The bottom line is.... some people may experience momentary delusional flashes, for the first few weeks or months after there morgellons onset,, depending upon the person.. But, it is not a developed mental condition of any kind,, just a coping tool thats all.. As the severity of internal organ damage reaches some degree, due to the morgellons condition,, many neurological problems result that appear more like the onset of Alzheimer's.. A condition of physical illness that effects the brain,, but "by no means" any kind of inherited mental disorder.. Doctors who bark this "morgellons is a mental disorder" garbage, all have 2 things in common.. (1) They have not looked at any of the available medical evidence that proves otherwise! (2) They all have the IQ of most grocery store vegetables..!! (though I wouldn't give them the credit of being as smart as a carrot,, there way dumber than carrots are!!) So,, looking at the available medical evidence that proves otherwise wouldn't help them anyway,, there just way too stupid to comprehend it!!! Just my take on it ;D

Ditto Rhorn.
And I've not heard of anyone one either (developing any kind of mental illness) from having Morgellons.
Here's a thought that I believe to hold with any animal or any human being.
If a person or animal is subjected enough times to something frightening or hurtful/harmful/distressing ( INVOLUNTARILY ) ...they WILL then become the term 'gun shy' when presented with that situation.
No differently than if a person were to blow up balloon, and pop it in front of a dog or cats face...that dog or cat is going to RUN like hell the next time they even see the sights of a balloon.
Now...the balloon hasn't physically hurt them, but it has caused a psychological "fear or distress", because they know or believe (from an INVOLUNTARY experience ) what is probably going to happen next.
I think all mammals learn this one real quick.
I think also that because of the horrible unfamilar (oddities) that we have come to ( INVOLUNTARILY ) live with that cause us pain, fear, distress and harm, we too have the same NORMAL reaction when (we see that balloon) if you know what I mean.
But it doesn't make a person "nuts". It shows their reactions are JUST as normal as we were all put together from the beginning of time.

Speaking for myself Glen I think if I had not been through some some major trauma's in my life and recovered from them before morgellons I think it would of been real easy to nut up what with all the doctor fun+absolute terror Isolation from family and friends exhaustive cleaning of everything and trying to find out what it is what makes it tick and what will stop the progression what will give relief
My Psychological scarring as a result of morgellons and it's component's has greatly inhibited my ability to view the world the way I use to although now when I Identify a phobia developed early on in the WTF stage associated with morgellons I have to ask myself it it is a a rational fear and proceed accordingly
I think that in order to get back into life it is imperative to heal the morgellons if we can manage it but also I think we need to try to heal the Psychological scarring too
I am absolutely sure that things will never be the same I just have to take what I'm given and work with it the best I can ignorance sure was bliss while it lasted

"...when I Identify a phobia developed early on in the WTF stage associated with morgellons I have to ask myself it it is a a rational fear and proceed accordingly..." That's the million dollar question. Is it irrational to avoid public places for fear of spreading Morgellons, or picking up another "strain"? Is it irrational to avoid flying because of the known toxic air associated with flying? Is it irrational to be afraid of being near another person with Morgellons that you may be sharing living quarters with? On and on....without any answers about Morgellons, how do we KNOW what is irrational and what is wise discretion? Maybe gambling on ignoring these fears and plunge ahead will be psychologically healing - or maybe it will lead to relapse for those who have made progress against it.

The million dollar questions what? when? where? why? how? what if ? ---Fear of the unknown one of the biggest crippleing factors of morgellons other than morgellons it's self Bessi All I can tell you is I have faced allot of the morgellons Psychological demons and won and I did not get any sicker As a matter of fact morgellons it's self is much more bareable when you arn't being chased by shadows I tell you no lie

1q42 1q42 gene,
causes heart organ displacement - which my daughter has. lupus- which I have. Bi-polar -many in my family. Schizophrenia- which my brother has.
Is also responsible for bacterial signaling and actin production.
I believe this is a added gene in us. It presents itself differently depending on specific point mutations.
I found the morgellons paragraph on this page 1q42 (trisomy) from the rare disease page , N.I.H.
Trisomy is a third overlapping gene .

i got the diagnosis in 1996 of psychosis NOS
what made me psychotic was the treatment given to me by the established medical system.
THEY traumatized me and created doubt within myself. THEY created the post trauma and fear of the system!
i recently wondered if i was depressed relative to my lack of motivation, so i got some zoloft.
then i discovered i was not depressed but fatigued. i go to the dr. on the 26th. i'm asking for LDN and ceftrixatone.
dr. agrawal (mayo clinic) has explained how glutamate toxicity causes symptoms in both lyme disease and ms.
he proposes that both cefrixatone and low dose naltrexone, by having the potential to reduce glutamate accumulations have therapeutic value in lyme disease, ms. and other nerological disorders. (http://autoimmunedisease suite.101.com/article. cfm/gglutamate excess in multiplesclerosis variants)
when i finally could understand the Phase I report, my trauma started to leave as i could understand what has happened to me. the bug thing drove me almost to madness..................i now understand that part too.
from my samples, i can see nostoc, geosiphon, actinomyctes, chytrids. the geosiphon does those bladders under stress. i have photographed them from my samples, so cyanolichen is correct within my skin. i'm trying to see how the plasmodium fits within all this or if it rides by itself.
the duplicate on the gene makes sense to me............. but what about my dog? she get lesions on her underside cyclic. she was with me when i got infected, moving soil, rock, and old building teardown.
my birds and my kids dogs have not gotten morgellons, nor has my 2 girls with lyme!

many people who experience the muscle spasms, the overwhelming crawling sensations, the magnetic symptoms, the fingernails, hairs and teeth changes that accompany a kundalini awakening, don't know that that's what they're experiencing, so there are pages and pages of reports and personal stories of people going through a living hell, and because of not knowing what it was, exhibiting what appears to be psychotic behavior.
though once they've talked with someone who has been through a grand kundalini awakening, and is experienced in guiding one through it....and the physical symptoms that accompany them.. they have a great deal of relief, and begin to learn how to get through life and cope while dealing with the symptoms.
alternatively, some people search the internet and find the exact same symptoms being described as morgellons, (which is relatively recent moniker for a kundalini awakening via byssus)... and get caught up in trying to search for a parasitic source.
this could be viewed as psychotic or insane, seeing as the professional community is not aiding on any front.. and should, in my opinion, help to explore the science behind kundalini .. or unveil suppressed research about it.
but after all... when you're involuntarily having the tabernacle of the ark of the covenant being built within your own skull, via the woven red white and blue fibers of byssus hyphae.....and it's resultant kundalini/holy spirit activation......you might be a bit ticked off in saying you didn't sign up for it. so obviously the truth isn't revealed. they all know though... all the major institutes. and they're very excited about it. i have no doubt.
we will see.. all in due time..
july 7th-11th... do you like tropical/arctic islands? they would be prime for 3.5 yrs of seclusionary evolution.

Ruth,
I believe Zoloft was responsible for triggering psychosis & acting without thinking in someone I know. After starting on Zoloft this person seemed to lose the ability to make intelligent descisions, common sense went out the window. Also the ability to learn from ones mistakes seemed to have evaporated. Adderal was added to the Zoloft to combat the problems with learning in school that this person devloped on the Zoloft. This combination triggered Psychosis, 3 lock ups in psychiatric over a six month period.
My friend has stopped taking both Zoloft & Adderal and is doing much better now

Ant- I have some very fine memories associated with Jefferson Airplane. (some hazier than others) ;D I can relate to your friend too. Its not that I blamed everything on morgellons, I didnt. My problem was tunnel-vision. I was so focused (ok, obsessed) with "it" that I couldnt be bothered with "minor stuff" . Instead of just dealing with each ouch and bump I basically neglected them. It seemed pointless. All I thought was nothing is going to be better till this is gone. My dr knocked some sense back into me when she was losing her patience b/c I still didnt have dental fillings replaced. She said: ok, according to your theory if you break a bone I should just set the bone, no need to address inflammation of surrounding tissues--and I wont bother giving you pain medication since it wont actually heal the bone. Some days I do still have a defeatist attitude but honestly my mind cant?/wont? let me believe that there is no hope for us--even though I KNOW I may not get better. Hows that for twisted thinking??

I do think in the later stages of any chronic and debilitating condition that depression can occur. I do think that real neurologic impairments stemming from Morgellons or Lyme infections can temporarily mimic schizophrenia. I think there can be temporary and brief periods of psychosis NOS in the later stages of these conditions. just mho. I don't think Morgellons is in any way a mental condition and I think morgellons takes its toll on any or all of our body systems as time passes. I also think that Morgellons feeds on stress kind of creating a closed system of toxicity if you will. Maintaining a positive outlook does seem to slow or stop the progression of this assault on our bodies. For me finding pleasure in my life now-not the way it used to be has been crucial to my well being. Its taken a certain amount of acceptance and also a certain amount of fighting off this dragon to get to a healing place-and I am still working on it!

This is very very embarrassing but during my 2nd year with this when the reality of this was sinking in, I actually tried to convince myself that I really was imagining things. And ya gotta love the irony of this--tried to convince my dr!! She said she didnt buy it and didnt think I did either and that I was desperate for a diagnosis b/c a diagnosis=treatment. She said she would be worried if I didnt experience some depression. She called it situational depression.

"psychosis [(seye-koh-sis)]
A severe mental disorder, more serious than neurosis, characterized by disorganized thought processes, disorientation in time and space, hallucinations, and delusions. Paranoia, manic depression, megalomania, and schizophrenia are all psychoses. One who suffers from psychosis is psychotic." I do remember one member here who pretty much lost it and became so paranoid and accusatory she was banned from LB. Don't want to say a name .......very sad. i hope shes doing OK now i haven't heard heard from her in years. i do think morgellons tends to bring on some degree of paranoia myself. Speaking for myself only ive noticed a fine line between dreams ,fantasy and reality but I still know the difference .I do wonder if the meds I take for sleep are affecting my brain in that way too or all the posions i used on my scalp at one time. I did also go through a period where I was terrified of bugs in the beginning.

I still get uneasy around bugs. But at my worst, when my hairs started moving or I had an itch I was absolutely terrified to touch my own skin for fear of what would come out. I struggled to fight the panic till one day I thought: what is it Im afraid of??? That its gonna get me??? It already did!!!! But I still have moments of ickiness.

I think the only thing that comes close that morgellons can cause is shock. Sometimes I think my brain is remaining in a state of shock just to get me thru some of the things I see... and that's fine by me!
