I finally got this figured out to where my medi-cal will still cover my appt and any extractions. The only part I'm concerned about (other than I'm scared sh*tless) is if it's gonna cover new teeth or not! I'm surely not gonna have them pulled and be left without any! I still have a little bit of vanity left ya know? Anyway, I just wanted to ask you for some prayers that the appt. goes well and the morgs in my mouth don't go insane when they start pokin around in there. Thanks guys... love ya's ~~ bannanny

Bananny I am not positive but an acquaintance mentioned to me that she was being set up with a payment plan of 95$ a month for her dentures. because it is not covered. ask the receptionist they should know. My prayers are with you. Pamper yourself afterward. and if at all possible get someone else to drive you home even if you are not put under. Rent some good movies in advance. you will need some time for rest. There is nothing like putting on a brand new smile.

Well, I did it! But they couldn't do anything for me today after the x-rays and all. I have a very bad infection in my teeth. They gave me a script for Keflex and some pain killers. I have to finish up the antibiotics and go back in. They want to do FOUR root canals... but guess what? Yep... not covered by medi-cal now and they run 1200 bucks for just one. I talked to the nurse before I left and she said if I go ahead and have them all pulled, that will be covered by medi-cal and I can work out a payment plan for dentures. So I think that's the route I'm gonna have to take. My teeth have gotten so bad and it hurts just to brush them, so I think I'll be better off to just get rid of them. I have to get everything figured out about the teeth tho first cuz there's no way I'm even walkin outta there without having teeth to put in my mouth!!
Thanks for your prayers guys...

So much pain today I can hardly open my mouth, let alone eat! I guess it's from all the probing they did yesterday. I forgot to mention they only checked the one side of my mouth where I was having pain and only took x-rays of the bottom left side too. They couldn't do a full exam without my having to pay for it. The way they did it was the only way I was covered as an emergency.
So who knows what they're gonna say about the other side when I go back in on the 17th. I'm gonna have to pay for that visit, but I have no choice. I have to get this taken care of and done with or the infection's gonna kill me. That seems to be the only choice we have anymore tho huh? Pay or die.

Oh my! Now I look like a squirrel, or a guy... anything with nuts. I woke up early this AM and the entire left side of my face and jaw is swollen out to the max (so I look like I'm storing nuts in my face.)
I gotta say, it hurts so bad I feel sick to my stomach. I called and they said the infection was so bad, that that's why I'm swelling up like I am. Sh*t... they didn't even do anything yet ya know? They said the Keflex takes 48 hrs. to get into the system and go after the infection, so hopefully that should start happening today. The pain meds they gave me aren't doing a dam thing to help tho, so they're calling in something stronger. My sweet mom's picking them up for me and bringing me some soft foods to try and eat. Don't have an appetite at all tho.
If my teeth end up killing me, at least morgs won't have been the culprit... not entirely anyway. Wouldn't wanna give it the benefit of the doubt.

Dang that really sucks! Try gargling with warm salt water several times . My dentist says the salt draws out the infection.

Oh Bannanny, You poor thing, I'm sorry this is happening. I wonder too (and just wanting so badly to help you) but remember your 'probiotics' so the "antibiotics" don't cause yeast over-growth. Can you try and eat some frozen yogurt too? I don't know if they have sugarless, but right now, who cares. The swelling is most important to get down. The icey cold will help your mouth feel better and the yogurt might help get those probiotics in you too - if it's sugarless. We just want our Bannanny to get better. Lots of loves and hugs.

You speak for us all, Toni! Nans, have you tried Kefir? It is very tastey and has even more probiotics than yogurt. You can purchase it in a large chain grocery store (the kind that stocks everything!), either in the yogurt section or the milk section. It comes in a plastic bottle, and you can get it plain (delicious, and has no sugar added) or flavored. I highly recommend it. It's something you drink--very thick, but thin enough that you drink it.

Hope you will be feeling better soon Bananny. They will do the extractions after the infection is under control. Doing it any other way would make the infection systemic. Not a game plan. I haven't seen a dentist for a couple of years now and am not going to any time soon. Since a lot of my activity is on my face and jaw I can't bring myself to do that.

Oh you guys... you're the best mother hens (and that one sweet rooster daddy) that anyone could ever ask for. I really mean that too. I eat yogurt all the time and am taking probiotics as well, so I should be covered there! I think I'm gonna get me some kefir and try it too tho... sounds yummy! Thanks for letting me know about it.
Don't put off the dentist for too long jh. That's exactly what I did and I did it for the same reasons you're speaking of. So please don't wait sweetie... it'll just make everything alot worse.
The swelling hasn't gone down much and I have a slight fever and feel a little woozy... but all in all I actually do feel better than I did yesterday. I think what's makin me feel a little bad in my tum is from all the smoke around here. Even tho the fires are a good distance away from me, the wind is carrying the smoke from all 4 fires up here to where it's almost dark outside now... like we're about to have a thunderstorm. But it's all smoke and the smell's coming in from the air cooler. I just pray everyone in the fire areas don't get hurt and no more homes are lost. Say a prayer for them all ok guys? Thanks...
big hugs ~~ bannanny
