I am suffering with really bad scalp lesions right now. The glands in the back of my head just above the neckline contain large painful nodules. There are also lumps all over my scalp that have no open lesions at all.
Does anyone know if this is related to Lyme or Morgellons? Also I would appreciate any tips on what treatments might alleviate the problem.
Thanks in advance, Karen

You poor thing. This sounds awful.
Since the lesions aren't "open" I'm picturing lumps?
Is that right? Like bumps under the skin?
Wonder if heat would help? Like a heating pad.
The reason I say that is, I had that "marble like lump that time under my breast" and it itched.
It wasn't an open lesion, just a lump that moved over a few hrs time. It would move 4" one way, then back again - all under the skin.
I used heat on it for 2 days. It "exploded". It did. I still have the HUNK of white waxy stuff that shot out.
Don't know what it is, but I've got it in a vial with alcohol.
And the heat is what "drew it into a head".
But that lump would move about and itch like no tomorrow.
Hope that can help Karen.

Toni,
Wait a minute. Waxy stuff out of a bump. In the very beginning of my Morg hell, I generated a waxy substance out of my ear. The doc I have known my entire life. He could squeeze that bump and get the waxy stuff to come out. Crunching sounds is what it made. He sent it to lab, and it came up negative for any bacteria. ??
Karen,
I am so sorry to hear of this. You call them lesions, do you have any open ones? I had gazillions of them at one time. I don't have any now, except pimples. I have used just about everything. My best advice, if these are mainly confined to your scalp is to get a prescipt for Ketaconazole shampoo 2% and also the over the counter selenium sulfide 1%. I wouldn't of believed it if I hadn't done it myself. My sons derm, a chinese gem, recommended and insisted we try this. Saying that if anything else were present, the combo would more than likely kill it too. Our scalps not longer itch, crawl, bite, and such. The bumps and darts went away, although we still occasionally get very small lesions in which generate particles. They seem to get smaller and the instance of them seems to get longer. We have been doing this combo since Sept., and in checking with her, still using. At first the recommendation was everyday, and currently we have worked down to about twice a week. Leave the combo on for twenty minutes and then conditon.
Ask your doc about this and see if they think it might be pertinent.

Hello all, my dermatologist also recommended to use Ketaconazole shampoo after she took a skin sample, set up a culture, and diagnosed Tinea capitis with Trichophytum rubrum. A red thread fungus. She told me, after I've asked and told her about seeing fuzzballs, that you can see the hyphae bundled up to form mycelliums. That was before I hardly knew anything about Morgellons Disease and was still searching for the cause of the creepy crawlers and fibers.. I'm using this shampoo temporarily and leaving it on for about 20 minutes, like Frito mentioned. You need to rinse thoroughly and put some conditioner on your hair as it tends to dry out the skin/hair, but the good point is, it also dries out the biofilm and kills the fungus! I achieved pretty good results while using this shampoo. Actually I tend to 'switch' between products...such as Dead Sea Salt Shampoo..Tea Tree Oil Shampoo..Peppermint Shampoo. Same with shower gels and/or soap. I don't want to let those 'creeps' have a chance to adapt to anything... In the intitial phase I also had open sores on my scalp..My doc gave me Erythromycin ointment, which didn't help very much, so I got a silver ointment and put that on and left on over night...The sores healed up after a few days and are gone ever since!! so..I'm thinking, maybe the Ket shampoo dried the sores out and the silver ointment had the healing effect. chaosonline, Perhaps try soaking your scalp in a tub with at least 1 cup of coarse salt. Very inexpensive try.

Thanks everyone. There many many open sores right now and lumps and marble-like painful swollen glands. I'll try all of your suggestions. I am really desperate because it is getting worse by the day. I have only recently thought of using my microscope again; I needed a break. You all know what that is like.
I did try to buy some Hibistat but everyone seems to be out of it right now. Probably due to the flu fears. I know I am having a serious Lyme & Morg attack right now. I am having daily headaches, the chirping sounds, fatigue and the stinging & biting feelings in my feet & legs. My ribs are excruciating and my upper abdomen is killing me. I have lost a lot of weight because I am fearful of eating due to the pain. Nowdays my clothes just hang on me as does my paper thin skin!
I quit my Doxy months ago due to bone pain but am thinking of starting it again. For the first time ever I have an open unhealing lesion on my chin...most of my open sores have been on my legs and head.
In case you are wondering I am self medicating due to no insurance...my pre-existing condition (Lyme) has caused me to be turned down flat by every insurance company.
Thanks so much for the valuable tips,
Karen

Karen, I've had severe left rib cage pain since at least February of 2008. Sometime in early March of 2008 I was hospitalized for a few days and the M.D. Hospitalist diagnosed me with Costochondritis, same diagnosis I'd received from my GP M.D.
Grady, Mrcommonsense has had it too. It's scary as the pain is so severe I wondered if I was having heart pains. Recently I've learned it's commonly experienced by those who suffer CFIDS.
Funny thing is recently the pain left for about three days then returned. Hurts to bend, reach, especially to reach behind me, and it's only on the left side.
Thanks for the tips regarding scalp issues. I've never had hair loss or scalp lesions, only a few tender spots in my scalp at times.
Lost eyebrow hair, but that's likely due to the Thyroid problem. Sad thing is they never grow back where they went missing, but the remain eyebrow hair grows wild, curly, and I have to trim them every few days with cuticle scissors to keep them half-way under control.
Then there's the stray eyebrow hair that pops up way outside the normal eyebrows.
One person I've met with Morgs lost all her eyelashes and I witnessed a white fiber looking thing emerging from the center of a fingernail. She said it was very painful.

Frito Frito, Yes, the marble like lump I had (shot out) I mean "shot out"...like someone fired it out after I'd applied heat on the lump for many hours. I went to emergency afterwards, and they did a culture of the area "underneath" my breast where this 'HUNK' of stuff shot out, because there was a HOLE left where it came out. The culture came back a couple days later (like yours) negative too! Here's what else is weird. The HOLE where this "white waxy like hunk of stuff' came out...healed up within days, and there is absolutely no mark whatsoever in that spot where it came out. No reddness, no scar, no nothin. That part too was amazing. But that "marble like lump" would move back and forth underneath my skin from "one side of my chest to the other" all in a matter of hours. Once it would get to one side - the far left, then it would move back to the far right side. And oh...it itched like no itch I've ever felt before. That's why I kept the heating pad on it. I figured I'd COOK it to death, hahha And...the skin opened up and it shot right out! So...I still have it in a vial.
