KMarie, where on LB was this first posted? My shortcut takes me straight to Morgellons Discussion, so I don't even see the other topics, but I've been waiting for this post since I learned about the outcome straight from Dragonfly and Trisha following the hearing yesterday morning.
I am so thrilled for Dragonfly there are just no words to express my happiness about this wonderful outcome.
Dragonfly is just one of the many people Trisha has guided and helped. I doubt that even Trish knows how many of us she has helped and she's definitely a force to be reckoned with and a dynamic no-holds-barred advocate for all who suffer this disease.
Thank you so much for sharing your good news here, and thanks to you, KMarie for making sure the news is posted where we can read it. Cheers, loud whistles and lots of clapping!
Score one for our side!
Incidentally, although the hearing was held in Florida, strangely enough it was a Tulsa Judge who awarded Dragonfly her just due. I guess there are still judges who travel around the country hearing cases, and it made me very proud to know a Tulsa judge heard Dragonfly's appeal for Social Security Disability.

Yes - congrats to Dragonfly- I remember when MCS posted her letter back in November: show details 11/20/09 morgellonspgpr.wordpress.com/Morgellons – A Mundane Approach A Letter I was Asked to Publish Posted in Morgellons by Mr. Common Sense on November 19, 2009 I received this letter and agreed to publish it. Three plus years ago Trisha was one of the very few people who was willing to help me and those were very dark days indeed, I am forever thankful to Trisha and many others. I am not making treatment recommendations by publishing this letter. Any decision on your part to read and use this information is your personal choice. Dear Mr Common Sense, If you would post this I would be most grateful. I live in Florida and Trisha Springstead is one of the only people who has helped me along with my Dr who is in Citrus County Florida, his name is Dr Peterson. I had this for 6 months before I found Trisha. I went to Dr Wartell, Dr Fialco, Dr Connie Gilligan, Dr Pham, Dr Sastry, Dr Saba, Dr Singh all of them treated me as if I was a Drug Addict, Delusional. I was tested for SARS, Lyme, Scabies, Drug Addiction, Herpes and ever known disease in the Pharmacopia, all tests were negative. They looked at me from across the room and told me I picked myself, they were dismissive and so cruel to me. I had lesions all over my body. My face was rotted off, my entire body had eruptions from head to toe. My Boss and Co-Workers treated me like a leper and would not come near me. These Doctors treated me from across the room and if Trisha would not have threatened one of my Doctors with “her license on a platter” she would have never signed my disability. If it wasn’t for this I would be broke and I got disability with a diagnosis of “Morgellons”. Did you know she is one of the few to get anyone disability on this diagnosis? Yet people don’t think it exists. I have lost my home, a $200,000.00 a year job and nearly lost my life. I am on a path towards wellness due to the hope that has been given to me by Trisha and Very Few Others. I am still brain fogged but my skin has improved incredibly and I use only Trisha’s products, Anu water, and her help has changed my life. I continue to see improvement daily. She just gave me some cell food and iodine last month and it is incredible. All the drugs in the world haven’t done anything. It is through a positive attitude, prayer, good food, good skin care, the water and cell foods that have saved my life. I have a bit of a way to go but I can tell you that the outside is healing and I have my skin and face intact due to Trisha. I owe her and very few others for my life, if it hadn’t been for two people I would be dead. Anyone who says anything negative about her is so wrong, she has been an angel to us. She has sat with me for hours, come to my home and spent time with me during the worst years of my life. Please post this, people need to know that her time is valuable and that she is working with so many for us. I exercise, pray, eat well and have found hope in the midst of the darkest days of my life. I still have some joint pain, fatigue and a couple of lesions on my hands but that is all I am getting well. God sent her to me and she has been my dearest friend ever since. Sincerely, Dragonfly

So sorry to trouble you, KMarie. I guess I assumed it had been posted outside the Morgellons Discussion Forum and wanted to search for it if that was the case.
I should never assume anything. Thank you.

You go girl!! That surely is a remarkable and deserving thing... for you and all other morgies! I'm so happy for you DF, and yes... Trish is a wonderful woman, so kind and caring. I'd do the ANU water myself but right now I'm as broke as broke can be. Maybe in the near future tho, I'll be able to give it a try too. I pray your road to wellness keeps on keepin on, and thank you for letting us all hear this wonderful landmark news!

This is wonderful news, but it is not the first time that SSDI was granted on the basis of a Morgellons diagnosis and resultant disability
Doraisabel also won her case in May of 2009. Expert testimony was provided by Dr. Staninger and Dr. Spencer.

Dear Folks, This is WONDERFUL news! Congratulations Dragonfly and Trish! This is much more important than you can imagine...even though Dragonfly was not the first to get SSDI as Bessie points out, the first was with the help of Drs. Spencer and Staninger...those documents set a LEGAL PRECEDENT! This is HUGE! If copies of just one or both would be better are posted, and folks applying for SSDI present these legal documents to their lawyers or advocates when facing an Administrative Law Judge, it HAS TO BE RECOGNIZED!!! If the same symptoms, disease, and general situation are present, then the Admin Law Judge must follow the previously approved diagnosis of "Morgellons Disease". Just take these documents (if they can be posted or even sent to each person if possible, that requests it), in good conscience, the legal system must follow through. If I had something like this to take with me, I would have gotten my SSDI on the very FIRST TRY! I won on the second try, but without the benefit of Trish and her knowledge...and her attorney. Thank God someone has finally been approved on the basis of Morgellons. Since the court of law has recognized this as a disease, why hasn't the medical system??? Actually the Administrative Law Judge is the representative of Social Security Administration, which is a government entity...therefore, the government HAS recognized Morgellons as an actual DISEASE!!!! And more so, is paying the recipients...for their illness. That said, why hasn't the CDC been informed? There certainly is a missing link here, isn't there? This should be brought to the attention of the CDC and rather quickly, I should think. This could force them to make their announcement for the results of their investigation. Another arm of the Federal Government has recognized the disease as an actual, bonafide disease, thus the label of DOP and any other mental instability should be eradicated! Good work, Dragonfly, please share your Approval page (when you receive it) with those who need it. This is such important information that can force the government to acknowledge us and this disease, set up a medical code for insurance purposes, and insurance possibilities for us all! There is also a legal code or Case ID number...that the legal system can use to obtain this remarkable win!!! Love and light all, ctbarb

Expert testimony was provided by Dr. Staninger and Dr. Spencer. Bessie Bessie, just curious to learn if the name "Morgellons" was actually presented at Doraisabel's hearing for SSDI? If not, then it may be that Dragonfly is indeed the first to be awarded SSDI based on that name. A few years ago one of the participants in the Oklahoma Project was awarded SSDI based on letters from her health care providers and a copy of the NPA publication, but I have no idea whether the name "Morgellons" was used. Seems to me it's appropriate to encourage everyone to keep their paperwork up-to-date, obtain copies of all lab reports and physician visits, and especially if you've been labeled "delusional" don't call in advance to let them know you're coming. Just pick them up and keep them organized.

Sidney -
As I said, it was for Morgellons Disease, and documentation of such was provided by Dr. Staninger and Dr. Spencer.
I thought that Dora had posted it on LB last year, but when I looked through her posts the most recent was several months prior to the judgement (about a year ago). I intended to bump her post up. Then I saw on a blog today where Dora talks about the details of her SSDI judgement (which was in May of 2009), and she said that she had posted it here. So I don't know what happened there. In any case, I read the judgement and "Morgellons Disease" is very prominently discussed in it. "Dr. Staninger, a toxicologist" is also mentioned in it as her records were crucial to the judgement.

Dear Bessie and Sid, As you know, the Award is not made known at the time of the court Hearing with the Administrative Law Judge. It comes about 2 months later, through the mail. It is dated/approved when the judge actually signs and records it. That being said, the Award will state the reason(s) for the award and in my case, was very specific naming the conditions. I would hope that in Dragonfly's case, this is done as well. They all follow the SSDI's protocol as is posted in the policy and procedures manual. Therefore, if Morgellons is specifically listed and named as such, it HAS been recognized by the US Government. If that is the case, then a precedent has been set. Any SSD Attorney can look up the case and present it to the Court at hearing proceedings...and the award should be made based on the physicians medical findings, etc. It is well known that the SSDI hearings are almost never approved without the representation of an attorney. Those same attorney fees are paid for out of the fees as prescribed and limited by the court. Only out of pocket expense to you would be copying, phone calls, and the like, as was explained in a brochure that came from the court. Keeping your medical records and all documents pertaining to your disease is crucial. My document folder that was given to the Administrative Judge was 6" thick! He commented that he measured it, just to be sure! So, don't be shy about keeping every piece of paper, even your appointment cards and cancelled checks for co-payments or direct payments made. I didn't start out to be so specific, but it may help someone who is filing for SSDI hopefully. Every little bit of info helps. Love and prayers, ctbarb

Thank you Bessie, and thank you, Barb. I don't recall Doraisabel's post at LB, but it's good to know that it now appears at least two people have been awarded SSDI benefits based on "Morgellons."
Barbara, thank you for what you've added as I have had no experience with SSDI at all and only know that sometimes or maybe as a rule (?) by the time the third appeal is made there's usually an attorney in place.
Thanks so much to both of you for explaining so well.

I thought the health system in AU was bad, oh boy, you guys in the states have to jump through hoops & red tape just to get "medicare"...?? Dragonfly, I don't know your entire story, but from your post above it sounds as though things are really turning around for you and you had a very special person helping you. I too would love to see the judge's statement. Congratulations Dragonfly, I am truly happy for you Itchin
