You're gonna be fine and just as onry (as Ali put it) as ever!! I've been reading up on it and yes, you're gonna be with us forever! I don't know how many hours you are ahead of me... but I know it's at least 2 so I won't try to call you again tonight since it 10 or 11 there now. I have to go to town tomorrow and get a rental for mom (she had a little fender bender) and in the morning have to meet the well guy here and discuss that problem... we're not pumping water. But if I get home and it's not too late I'll try to call you again tomorrow. I'm sending you faith, hope and all the strength I can muster up! After all, you've done nothing but give it to me all these years... I wanna give it back to you now.
I love you Sid ~~ Robin

2.99, that was a great post!! Old fart? hahahaha!!! I love her too!!! It just occured to me, I have definately lost my sense of humor as of late. Sidney, I am confused still. I found something though that may shed some light. How can I get ahold of the CD? Heres the link. Current Management of Meningiomas By Franco De Monte, MD, FRCS(C) Department of Neurosurgery, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston | January 1, 1996 www.cancernetwork.com/display/article/10165/63453Frito Frito, thanks for the Franco DFe Monte article. Very interesting! That was written January 1, 1996 and likely more is known now, but it was very interesting reading. My son found some sort of Meningioma message board today and some of the people posting had undergone as many as six procedures. I guess in many instances the tumors keep returning. At my age, (GULP, 74) it's unlikely I'll have to do this more than once considering the planned Radiation follow-up as it now appears. Frito, I do have a CD and if I can find a way to get a copy I will be happy to share. Honestly, it's really strange to look at my brain and see this large golf ball looking thing on it and know it's in my head. I failed to mention that for probably three years, definitely at least two, I have slight balance problems at times especially when I walk near water. Even weeding the flower beds on the fishpond berm or walking around the pool makes me feel "strange." (strange? ;D Vision in my right eye is somewhat affected, and I have more strength in my left arm, hand, leg, than in my right. Just another reason for the Cyber-Knife doctor to believe surgery is the better option. Anyway, I have much for which to be very thankful and other than "Morgellons" I have enjoyed good health, no blood pressure meds, no Cumidin, No Lasix, none of the usual ills of the elderly, and there's still a lot of fight left in the old body. My foremost concern is if the surgery will leave me "impaired" .......in other words, dumb as a rock and not the good sense to come in out of the rain. That is my biggest worry and the fear of no longer being Large and in Charge! Horrors, what a thought! Sweet dreams.

I have named mine: Minnie the Meningioma. Want to name yours? It's really kind of fun, because you'll find people asking you how "Minnie" is. (My reply is that she's been a very quiet boarder up there, not causing any trouble...). So let's see...how about Angie? Ginny? Oma? Mama? :-) See, I can kid you since it takes one to call one. :-)

Violet, love your sense of humor. I'll have to think of an appropriate name for mine. Do Meningiomas have a sex? I would certaining want to name mine appropriately, especially since my own name is spelled as though I were male.
Growing up there was a fat ugly male movie star who always played the role of a bad guy. His name was Sidney Greenstreet and I got teased a lot because of the spelling of my first name.

Hows about Maxine the men-ingioma?
JJ, that was too funny. My gosh, it looks so.....real.
The old lady reminds me of Maxine. I love Maxine, she just tells it like it is.

My Dearest Sid, I am so very sorry for your pain and your diagnoses, but knowing is better than wondering...like we've been doing for so long...your series of events is due to your neverending pursuit of finding answers to this horrific disease! You know I love you and am praying for your swift and complete recovery. Incidently, I have also been referred to an ENT specialist for the neverending supply of 'organisms' coming from my right sinus, where the vision problem began, and now the evolving aneuryzms, and almost totally blocked carotid artery. Typing is still so difficult, my fine motor skills have not returned yet, so am not posting much either. So didn'f know of your dx until now. 'We' old farfs sure are having a bad time of it! I'm sory that you fell out of bed...but I fell into bed when I had my stroke! That was lucky for me...the alternative was falling through the glass doors of my antique armoire! That would really have p*ssed me off if I broke that!!! I'm going into the hospital again this Sat. to get ready for the knife on Monday AM...it's scary I know, just to think that he'll be cutting out a piece of my carotid artery...but it WILL be sent for pathology and a complete dx of what the so-called 'plague' if that is what it really is....contains. I personally think it is clogged with debris and possibly mucin/goo from all these organisms that are in my nasal passages, eustashion (sp) tubes, and sinuses...maybe even mold/fungus too. My neuro vascular surgeon will be on the lookout for anything unusual he sees during the process...he thinks outside the box! I'm giving him pix of what has come out previously and he will be looking for look-a-likes....! Like my Schistosomes...they are still coming out...loaded with fibers! I'm attaching one from this AM that I kinda mashed up upon extracting.....but is still visible. So, my dear friend, if you need my long, blonde wig to cvover any shaving of your hair, I'll Fed Ex it to ya...perhaps you can ride through the streets of Tulsa for me!!! You'll have to find your own steed! Hi Yo Sidney/Silver!!! I know, I'm a sick ole broad!! But you know I love you more than my luggage! As Olympia Dukakis said to Shirley Maclain in my favorite movie - "Steel Magnolias" that's us - Flowers made of Steel! I'm so happy that you'll have some family on the homefront taking care of things for you and Tom! Much love and strength, and tons of prayers, Dear One. Love you, Barb Attachments:

Love you, Barb Barbara, so great to hear from you. I don't know whether it's fear or fatigue, but I tire so easily now. Would rather call you and have a catch-up visit, than try to type a lengthy reply. Much love and many thanks. I'll be so thankful when your procedures are finished and you get some answers. Hang tough, and I'll try and do the same. I think I may need your wig, but instead of a handsome steed I think I'll just try and find a tired old Mule to ride and confine my expose' to the main street of Bixby. I guarantee you it will create quite a stir and the old-timers could use a little excitement! Not much happens in Bixby other than the Green Corn Festival in June..or is it July?, and the Bar-B-Q Cook off at the local park....oh, I almost forgot the annual Christmas Parade and the 4th of July Fireworks. But it's ok, and I am definitely not complaining. I prefer it that way. xo's

I missed this post for a long time ........wow, Sydney you are dealing with a lot.
I'll be praying for you and Barb and Karen boy oh boy do we have some praying to do.
B.T.W. Karen went to the E.R. thinking they would tell her they end was near but just the opposite happened the Pancreatic Cancer has not grown at all. She has been on D.C.A. and Rife ( James Bare Machine) and alternates the D.C.A. with Chemo. It's working now she will most likely switch to Low Dose Naltrexone which also does not allow the Cancer to grow but encapsulates the Cancer. I read of a few people alive 5 years later and to the date of the article who took L.D.N. Wonder if any of that would help you , I have to look up your condition.
God is Good and I am expecting good things for you Sydney and for Barb as well.
Love you Sydney, Jennifer

I am sorry this is happening to you. Have you looked into alternative therapies for this? Can't hurt while you wait the month. You sound pretty resigned to the knife. Tell the doc, no coffee for him on the day he does your surgery. You must have had some symtoms to be finding this as you say you suspected something. You will be in my thoughts and prayers to do the right thing for you. 22122

Found this Sidney, Maybe Brain good poly particles? tinyurl.com/297vrprIntracranial Delivery of PLGA Microparticles Principal Investigator: Rona Carroll, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Director, Neurosurgical Oncology Laboratory, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Assistant Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School Meningiomas can reoccur after surgery or radiation. The recurrence rate depends upon the completeness of the removal, where the tumor is located, and the tumor’s aggressiveness. The goal of this project is to develop polymeric microspheres as a local delivery system for therapeutic agents for recurrent meningiomas. Biodegradable microspheres represent an evolving technology for delivery of drugs to the central nervous system. The microparticles are made of poly (lactide-co-glycolide), which has been shown to be safe and promising for drug delivery into the brain because they are biodegradable and biocompatible with brain tissue. Due to their size, these microspheres can be easily implanted into discrete areas of the brain without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. This targeted local therapy will increase tumor treatment response and ultimately improve patient outcome. Sidney, Hope all goes well with whatever treatment you and your doctors decide on. On the practical side, maybe you need to move that table or put a guard rail on your side of the bed for now.

Thanks for the suggestions and well-wishes. I'll visit the links when I have more time, and thanks to all for sharing.
Barb, when you're home from the hospital please call me when you feel up to it.
Jen, thanks for the up-date on Karen. I honestly didn't realize Karen felt she was nearly finished with life on this earth.
I haven't looked into alternative treatments for the Meningioma, but Liatris sent a link last night and thank you for that, Liatris, and for all information provided.
Meningiomas can return. At one message board my son visited a gentleman had a Meningioma on his brain stem and it returned six times. I think because of my age it feels less threatening.
My sister finally received the results of her sputum test and has Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida Albicans in her lungs.
We have no idea what will be offered for a treatment protocol, but I advised her to do her own research and go from there.

Sid, you gotta quit chasing your husband around the bedroom. In all seriousness, how have you been feeling these past few days? Sore? My gosh, it sure sounds like a seizure to me. Better pad the ends of the night stand. It will keep you from black eyes and bloody ears. Last summer i was painting with all the windows closed(dumb I know) and I got real dizzy and went running to open the windows and I tripped and flew across the room and my right eye hit the arm of a chair(office chair thank God it was padded) and the next month i walked around with a shinner. Ha. No one believe that I fell. I looked like someone beat me. Hahahaha. Anyway, hope your feeling better. Take care and pad that furniture. ChicagoBonnie

My love to Karen and admiration as she continues to do battle.

I've told you many times that old Geezer chases me, not the opposite. Found a great picture of the two of us today taken thirty years ago. No wonder I fell for him, he was truly a hunk with a gleam in his eye. Hey, by June we may be licking windows and riding the Special Bus! Thanks, C.B. Not a seizure, honestly, just the Mother of all Nightmares that caused me to lunge out of bed and fall. Sorry about your accident! Broke a toe twice years ago running to answer the telephone. Decided there would never be a third time and no call was worth running to answer. Each time I could actually hear the poor toe break. A truly ugly sound!
