Well I am wondering if it is ok to take my old medication, Abenza? I have had it in the refrigerator for a year and it expired a year ago. What to do? It is very expensive and I sure could use it. My old doctor said she just got a new patient that has Morgellons and she has them on Albenza(Albendezole) I was reading some place where it said under right conditions that medicine is good up to five/six years after expirations. Just not the ones from the medicine cabinet. It said birth control pills and antibiotics should not be used if expired. So, do you think I will die if I take this stuff now? I have a feeling I am going to take it no matter what I hear. I am slightly desperate. I have been very tired lately and when took this last year, I had so much more energy and no aches and pains and no crawlies. What to do, what to do. I am beside myself. Geezeeeee!

CB,
Call your local pharmacist and see what they have to say.

Good idea to call pharmacy. Your local Poison Control Center may also help. I have used mine before. Here is a site with info about expiration date & meds. Sounds like some may be ok, some less effective, some not good for diabteics, heart patients etc. (Like, expire nitroglycerine isn't ideal) Best wishes with the meds & new job hunting. tinyurl.com/2dtvm8nquote author=zabrubon board=rash thread=13835 post=154040 time=1272332086]Well I am wondering if it is ok to take my old medication, Abenza? I actually asked my doctor about this and he said medication loses very little potency after expiration. I am using some of mine that are expir 2003. I was not asking about antiobiotics. I did not ask him about these. These were my old tranqillizers that are not made anymore and I stock piled a bunch. My doctor was not just telling me something to make me feel good. I knew he was right. Of course, the pharmacy will tell you to toss them and get new ones. I have some old flexarils and they still work. I think they are 10 past.

Yeah, I am afraid the pharmacy has to tell me to toss them, otherwise they could get sued if I get sick. Too bad. I think I will call my doctor and ask her tomorrow. And thanks Victory for the encouragement about the job. No matter how much I keep my chin up, it sorta slips down and I get sad. But then I get happy too. Thanks all, ChicagoBonnie.

Be careful, Bonnie. If you take it - I recommend that you have some Activated Charcoal on the side ready in the event that you have a bad reaction. I think it's a good idea to have this in our medicine cabinets at all times, it has literally saved my life.

Activated charcoal is a miracle supplement. You can take it for aches and pains too... it removes toxins from the gut and blood, it's what they give some people with overdoses in the ERs, it pulls all the toxins into the charcoal. It has no side effects but will interfere with other medicines taken within 20 minutes of it.
