I phoned my mate shred (Kas) this morning. First time we have ever spoken. It was absolutely wonderful to put a voice to her posts, email & picture. It was like we were long time buddies, don't you think shred? You have a beautiful voice Kas! How refreshing to speak to someone who understands! and actually be able to have a laugh. Thank you Kas! Love me ;D

On the topic of "advice" - I didn't give any "witch doctor" advice I based my advice on my own experience. 6 years ago I was housebound, had spent almost 2yrs in bed, gained 20 kilograms from the antipsychotic & decided I was going to eat myself to death! I had severe CNS involvement, I exhibited symptoms of a stroke on my right side, I had a drop foot, my speech was slurred, & my vision blurred. My hand writing deteriorated, as did my cooking skills, I didn't even have the strength to chop vegetables. The debris coming out of my skin at that time was beyond belief - I didn't need a microscope to see! Back then I was under the care of the psychiatric community - so they & myself treated my symptoms as a "delusion" - I didn't get better with psychiatric medication - I got worse! I came out of my denial & tried to recover from the abuse thrust upon me by the medical system. I then fell into another trap - Neurontin (Gabapentin). I was given a diagnosis of Restless Leg Syndrome - funny thing - I'd never complained of such a thing. Toward the end of 2009 I realized the Neurontin was doing me more harm than good, my sleep pattern was terrible, an yet Neurontin was meant to help my sleep. By early 2010 I hired a Far Infrared Sauna (the cylinder type). I used the FIR for 15mins twice daily to wean myself off the Neurontin, it was extremely grueling, but I did it & slept like a baby without the Neurontin & the FIR for 2 months. These days I try to keep things simple, though I take a lot more supplements than the average joe blow & I don't do anything far out, just try to maintain a healthy routine. Finding strength of mind is the hardest part of this disease, no pill is going to do that, it comes from within. sheredelight, I am living proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel & one day you will feel better & you will get your life back. Love - itchin

Love - itchin Hi itchin, You really have been through the mill, hun... hey ....Things can only get better....ok, now I'm singing....lol I think getting off the antidepressants is a great idea for me as, they were not working anyway. The Melatonin, i was speaking to a chemist today, and apparently this helps the body to start making this substance naturally, 6 years of insomnia. They tried me on nearly every antidepressant their is. And i had to ask doctors for melatonin, amazing. Plus i asked for melatonin before xmas, so she handed me an antidepressant with it in. So i put on 6 kilos, now fighting to get it off. Water with a lemon juice, gonna try to increase to 4 liters a day, i now pee clear...lol.... Tuna and salad, cottage cheese, my favorite nuts pistachios, apples, and Turkey and protein drinks and eggs. So the weight better disappear. A good clean out, and Green tea. Might clean out Little bit more if I'm lucky. The Far Infrared Sauna seem to be good for making us feel better, and a clean out, tho i dont think i could afford it. And as for my thinking, i can walk into another room, and hold on what did i want. Totally gone, and i had the" i cant find words at all", which still applies. The magnesium is a must take, and thanks for mention fish oil, see i forget, i keep changing what I'm taking, sticking to a routine is difficult for me. For a girl who never goes out anymore, just food shopping. I will fight the good fight for my life back, never say die, is my motto. 12 months ago i would walk 40 min and enjoy it, today no way, no energy. No air... Yes itching, strength of character is a must, strong mental abblities..and this is deffinality the most trying disease, i have ever encounted. So lets whip some morgie butt, cheers all.

Hi sheredelight - yes I have been through the mill, though I try hard not to dwell on it. I was first started on antidepressants in 1997 & have been on every kind too. I was very susceptible to the side effects. I even gave the new antidepressants a try, the ones to treat Fibromyalgia. I had to stop them after a week - had terrible neurological symptoms, tremor & I looked like I was drugged off my head! awful experience. Then I tried another antidepressant on the advice of a physician since I said I was anxious. He gave me an antidepressant for obsessive compulsive disorder & depression. He said the pill was to treat my anxiety! I don't have OCD. As for being depressed, I felt my depression was relative to what was happening in my life & no pill was going to fix that. Once again that pill was a terrible experience & I came off it. My anxiety went away on it's own & I don't see that physician any longer. Antidepressants can serve a purpose for some people, short term & to be monitored closely by a doctor. After speaking with some other female friends (who don't have Morgellons) & are on antidepressants, they said the worst side effect is the inability to reach orgasm. I've heard the side effects on men are erectile dysfunction &/or inability to reach orgasm. This is the Magnesium powder I was telling you about; www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=56717&pname=Blackmores+Magnesium+Powder+150mgOur GP recommended Blackmore's brand & as I said on the phone this magnesium powder is "new!" ;D so it's gotta be good. Honest though, I highly recommend the magnesium powder. I still have those "walking into a room moment" & not having a clue why I went in there! I swear I have literally done circles in this house (which is very small) & almost got lost at times. I find that can happen if I'm under a lot of stress too. I forget things I really shouldn't forget. My partner reckons I have a mind like a steel trap - I'm not sure, my short term memory concerns me at times. I really do hope your doctor can help you with the Melatonin & I have everything "crossed" for you that it works. I like the idea of whipping butt ;D Love - itchin

The two of you are pretty inspiring. What you both say is so true. I am going to think about that Infra red sauna now and at least try one out. I have never done that. I am in a small space though so will have to do something about that. Maybe they have roll up and put away ones. Keep up the spirit! 22122

Keep up the spirit! 22122 22122, this is the sauna unit I hired for home; www.sunlighten.com.au/saunas/solo-system - $400 for 2 months. I'm in small place too, so the solo unit was perfect. If you do get to try one of these don't be fooled by the pictures! FIR is not a glamorous exercise! You need to submerge your whole body including your head. Drink hot herbal tea, something like ginger - before the FIR - 15 mins twice daily is plenty at a heat you can take. As soon as you get out, jump in the shower as you will be dripping in sweat. You also need to take some supplements whilst doing this, such as chlorella (green algae) - so the muck has something to stick too. Also extra supplementation to replace electrolytes. cheers itchin

itchin, Thanks for that sauna information. So is the sauna you have look like the picture on this link you included to us here? Her head is out and the top of her shoulders. So scoot inside? Won't you sufficate? Was yours a different sauna than this one maybe? My shower is in another building so I have to get up, dress, go outside and into another building and up stairs and finally the shower. So for now, I am just putting this in a file for my wish list when I move somewhere else. 22122

The link is the company I hired the unit from & the picture is the same unit I had. The unit comes apart so you can pull it over your head. It can be a little claustrophobic.

Its a nice unit but I would have trouble with the claustrophobia part scooting inside. I don't think I could overcome it but could maybe benefit in using it the usual way. Thanks for this information. 22122

I mentioned on Carrie's thread about Lyme that my son wasn't well & my being very upset as to the doctor considering scabies treatment without testing. William's rash looks nothing like scabies, though the itching between the fingers at 2am this morning could well be. The rash under the arm & on his chest is more like atopic dermatitis, raised, lumpy & hot. The inside crease of his arms looks like eczema after he scratched it & even his pee pee is itchy.
