Scary thing happened to me. Was laying down and having an uncomfortable feeling in my throat. I coughed and out came this sharp spllinter. I saved it and am sending it to Toni for pictures. Yuck this stuff is in my throat and these sticker things are painful to swallow! Anyone else have a similar experience. Definately a first and I hope a last. This thing is pretty big 1/2 an inch and soacked in a little blood...yuck

OMG, you poor girl. Thank goodness you got it out. I can't even imagine what that could be, as I've sure never had that happen - so far anyways. And my scope is ready, willing and waiting for it to get here to take pics for you Ibzahp, are you okay now, or is your throat scratchy? I wonder if you could gargle with salt water or if where it came from is too far down your throat for the salt gargle to reach? I'm glad you got that out, and that's just horrible. These weird things that keep happening are just too much. I'm sorry that happened.

I wanted to say a little more about this splinter type thing it is tube like -like a straw except smashed flat it is more like a third of an inch long. The material is kind of woody and also kind of plasticy. kind of like wood fibers dipped in plastic. Where there is no blood it is yellowy in color. it really scares me that i coughed this up as i had not recently eaen anything. guess no one else has experienced anything similar

So sorry Inez... are you feeling ok now? I cough up alot of weird stuff too... and actually have either a bad sinus infection or a cold goin on right now (wierd cuz I haven't had a cold in years.) But it's the runny nose, sneezing, coughing, headache and my throat feels very raw... so if I cough anything up like you did sweetie, I'll send it on to our dear tonio for experimentation too! But so far, no... I've never coughed up any splinters like yours. Feel better and keep us updated...
big hugs ~~ bannanny

Just now seeing this thread, Inez. ... ... .... .... Are they feeding the Americans thorns now? (I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.) I am so sorry... nobody deserves this kind of treatment.

You know what to do about those strands Inez... don't give them the benefit of the doubt by even acknowledging them. Pay no attention and I promise you they'll become weaker and weaker.
love you ~~ bannanny

Inez, Could you get us a picture as soon as possible. There is another person who has a great many "splinters". I looked for a comparison of the shape which looks like a tiny fiber with needles on both ends. I found the research for that one and compared the industry uses. The one he has is a replacement for asbestos. It is used in the medical field in drapes and sponges.
