Wanted to come by and say that Tom, me, & my dear friend Sharon (who lost her only son last year) all had a beautiful, peaceful, & very healing time on the island this year. Me & my baby also celebrated our first anniversary and are happier with each passing day. So I wanted to share a few pics with you guys again this year...
On our way to the island after celebrating a beautiful anniversary...
After a long day in the air, the sunset from our cottage was worth every minute of it...
Three days later, my best girlfriend Sharon arrived and got to drink her morning coffee on the veranda too!
We all went down to the bech where me & Tom were married to feel the loooooove...
...and where Sharon has a peaceful place to always remember now too...
One of our adventures was to go snorkeling at Buck Island...
Another day all us old beach bumbs drove to the other side of the island for lunch & a Reggae concert on the beach...
The day before we left to come home, we were given a beautiful double rainbow...
...and a full moon shining on the water in the very early morning (dark thirty) of the day we left for the airport...
Then it was good bye to my sweet girl at the St. Croix airport (or so we thought anyway)
Minutes later, we came to find both airplanes taking off that morning (and the only 2 on the tiny St. Croix runway) were both broken. So it was a 3 hr delay... but the good thing was we all got to fly back to as far as Miami together instead of parting ways in St. Croix.
So we finally took off and said another goodbye to our island...
We were glad in one respect to be going home, which was to get back to our sweet puppies. But that's when the so very unexpected tragedy and pain began.
Our sweet Blizzard had been fighting a stomach problem this past year... but on Sunday March 11, only 2 days after we'd come home, our sweet Blizzy boy took a very bad turn. We rushed him into emergency where we soon learned it was his lungs all along... and there was nothing we could do to save him. They'd tapped his lungs, and even put him in an oxygen tent... but he only continued to become more & more blue. He was fighting to stay on his feet as hard as he was fighting to breathe. Our vet told us he wouldn't last the night... so we had to make the decision to put him out of his excruciating pain. He didn't even look like our sweet Bliz as he fought harder & harder to catch each little breath that he could. Our sweet baby boy died in our arms in a beautiful peaceful room they have at the hospital... and God we miss him so so very much. But I know Suebe was there to meet him the second he got to Heaven... and I know we'll see him again, along with all our sweet family, friends and pets who've gone home before us.
In memory of our baby boy "Blizzard"
Born October 2007
Died March 2012
Bugsy misses you too...
We'll always be a family...
And like I said... I know you're running thru the fields of Heaven now,
and we'll see you sweet Blizzy the day we come home.
Ok then, I love you guys... and I'll see you again soon too.
