I've just learnt that the antibiotic Ciprol 500 I am taking is considered "broad spectrum". On this link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciprofloxacin it mentions this drug to treat bladder infections. I am becoming increasingly more incontinent of urine, stress incontinence. I am also having this incontinence when my "emotions" go up and down. I have been wearing a pad in my under wear literally since my birthday on the 4th May. I want to address this issue with my GP, who has been supportive since my evidence for disease. Unfortunately he is very sick, 6 weeks so far and not sure if he will be back. Gosh I hope so. I was looking for evidence of this Cipro last night and if it weren't for Tony pushing one of his Valium in my mouth I know I would have sat and fort the Endep sedation until I found answers for this Cipro. My Dad said to me back around 2006 when we were at a cross road with my health. Dad said "do you want to be cured to Death?".... Anyway, yes the Valium did hit me and I just bookmarked links and shut down the bucket of bolts until I was able to face it this morning. This link is interesting and below is a snippet tinyurl.com/74mzlj6 September 30th, 2009, 07:20 PM Baraka Obam Baraka Obam is FEARLESS LEADER Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 3,618 Yeah meowtown Wait i will put my Morgellons hat on, it is a natural treatment hat. Keep on with the doctors and come close to DEATH. they brought me there and they have brought others there. I was not so quick to rant and rave about all the symptoms as they would label me INSANE!!!!! That I may be,LOL but I do not want a label. If you ask me your a classic case, most of your problems spured on by DOCTOR DRUGS get on board or watch as you get this then that then this then that again. Your wife will have it and most likely your child already, BUT your the one with the symptoms. This is a long term disease those red dots didn't pop up in one day. If I were you I would start taking some 2 box baking soda baths and rubbing your skin with GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT. Get some DMSO and go up and done the spine with it, the stuff lives in spinal fluid. You should feel some wild stuff going on in the back. Be careful with DMSO, just wet the skin all the way down the back up to the bottom of the hair line. You will see this puts them on notice, lay off worrying the whole family, you need their care not their fear. I have had this 38 years. It got worse 7 years ago, real worse.

The chemist said this drug is not a broad spectrum, more targeted to treating ie. bladder infections. He had never heard of Mycoplasma. You see, my dilemma is that this drug, one course of 56 tablets is costing me $90. This is not a PBS (Public Benefits Scheme) drug which would cost $5.80 if you are on a pension, which I am. Hmmm....another Bloody cross road...and more LIES

This part is VERY important - the sticker on the box of Cipro 500 reads; "This medication may effect mental alertness and/or co-ordination. If affected do not drive a motor vehicle or operate machinery".I've never seen that sticker on an antibiotic before. On a box of Temazepam or Valium, sure, but not an antibiotic. Last night around 5.30pm it was almost curtains for this family. I believe the four wheel drive would have killed Tony and William out right. Being the driver I think I would have survived, speaking hypothetically. I have this disease, I am under so much stress, I am taking this drug to help get me well and I manage to save my family further disaster by being cautious and responsible and having the most tuned in 6th sense. That was the 2nd near car crash experience at the same intersection. I wonder what those 2 drivers are taking as in medication for them both to drive straight through a red light when they CAN clearly see my car half way across the intersection because that's the law. I tell you what, I may just nick name myself "Felix".

Cipro is a floxin drug. I always remember Dr. Richard Schulze saying something like : don't get "floxed up with floxin." My poor mother took it close to the end of her life to dive into severe depression that she never recovered from. It does not happen to everyone. My brother had no trouble with it. No side effects at all. Talk to a phamacist of your concerns as they are very knowledgable. It can affect the muscles and ligaments in some people. Not saying that would happen to you. You can research to see how it might affect you if you are concerned. Maybe they did a culture and sensitivity and there are other things that can be taken?? Unfortunately bladder infections don't go away by themselves. Don't know if you are interested in natural things. We are not a doctor here but maybe should consider going to a good Naturopathic Doctor that might have something up there sleeve to treat it with. You will have to have another culture to see if it worked though. Don't want the organism to migrate to the kidneys. A good clip to watch by John Gray: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijMbycw2boMBest to you. 22122

Hi 22122,
Thank you for your insight into this drug. Unfortunately my GP has been ill for 6 weeks. I will see him soon hopefully. With having a Lyme doctor interstate makes treating this disease very difficult. Particularly when the number of people believing me about this disease is less then the fingers on one hand.
What you just mentioned could explain what is happening to my right knee.
Thank you itchin

Hi 22122,
Thanks again for the information on this drug, and luckily my GP is back working and I am seeing him this morning. I wrote my Lyme doctor and the reason I am paying so much for a broad spectrum antibiotic is because NHS won't cover it. Of course my mind boggles as to why. I also need regular blood tests, so lucky I wrote!
Love itchin

I've seen my GP this morning and he explained why the Government will not allow Ciprofloxacin to be PBS (Public Benefits Scheme). For someone to have this drug at the cost of $5.80 one has to have a Pseudomonas infection. emedicine.medscape.com/article/226748-overviewMy doctor went on to say that it is "antibiotic" resistance also that the Government are concerned about and that is why there are restrictions. So technically, because my infection is Mycoplasma Fermentans I pay full price. IF I had a Pseudomonas infection I would pay $5.80. Have I been tested for Pseudomonas? NO I wasn't even going to try putting that one on my GP. What a lovely man and how unwell he still looked, wearing a mask during our consultation. He listened to my upset and hurt of recent, and also my out pouring about the lack of knowledge, awareness for Morgellons. Gosh that man believes me so much, and I tried to hold back the tears. He said he was so so sorry for me, and concurred that psychological distress does not create psychosomatic symptoms, the psychological distress feeds the disease the suffering. I had my bloods done too, as to keep a check on my liver as the Ciprol is rather toxic.

Many have different opinions about this particular drug. I am trusting my doctor on this one re taking the Ciprol. As for it helping, well my face was dumping lots of crystals, and sand type stuff, the blue and black fibers, totally gross, but better out than in. Wish I could help you more on this topic, but I can't. So sorry you have this disease, lots of people here who care and are very clever. Take care. itchin

Antibiotics for M are a waste of time and rescources, along with some negative side affects. To rid oneself of parasitics, one must use antiparasitics, correct? I bet antibiotics help keep the parasites healthy, joke! So what do antibiotics actually do inside our bodies?Aren't they for bacteria, which we have so little of,it seems redundant to treat for something we don't have any of.

I would consider going to an alternative healers for some herbal remedy for this urinary tract infection if your concern is resistance and it is a plenty powerful antibiotic for which your government is wise in its concerns. If you look up the history of floxins, they were originally banned in the US but now they brought them back. I certainly would never take them but that's me. 22122

i would think that instead of a kidney infection that you have a high level of acid in your urinary tract.A test would tell, mine at one point was 165ppm,way too high.what are your symptoms? Have you had blood work done and if so what was the urinary tract level of acidity?

Hi 22122 & scrap, sorry guys working my way backwards with posts. Oh my..... Ofloxacin is a synthetic chemotherapeutic antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class considered to be a second-generation fluoroquinolone.[1][2] The original brand, Floxin, has been discontinued by the manufacturer in the United States on 18 June 2009, though generic equivalents continue to be available.Ofloxacin was developed as a broader-spectrum analog of norfloxacin, the first fluoroquinolone antibiotic,[12] Ofloxacin was first patented in 1982 (European Patent Daiichi) and received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval December 28, 1990. One of the first major adverse reactions noted with Ofloxacin were psychiatric in nature. Ofloxacin can cause serious psychiatric side effects with up to 25% of such patients suffering such reactions.[13][14] This reaction was detailed within Stephen Fried’s 1999 book: “Bitter Pills”[15]
In the United States name branded ofloxacin is rarely used anymore, having been discontinued by the manufacturer, Ortho McNeil Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.[16] Johnson and Johnson's annual sales of Floxin in 2003 was approximately $30 million, whereas their combined sales of Levaquin/Floxin exceeded $ 1.15 billion in the same year.[17][18] However generic use continues. The FDA website lists Floxin (Ortho McNeil Jannsen) as being discontinued, with just a few generic equivalents still in use. The otic solution continues to be listed as being available both as an original drug as well as a generic equivalent.
During the 2008 Johnson & Johnson shareholder’s meetings, the safety of both ofloxacin and levofloxacin were called into question. Paul Cahan, a shareholder who had suffered severe and continuing adverse reactions to ofloxacin, publicly challenged Johnson and Johnson’s CEO, William Weldon, to adhere to the company’s credo. This credo states in part “to put the needs and well-being of the people we serve first”. Mr. Cahan requested additional warnings be added to the package inserts for both ofloxacin and levofloxacin.[19][20]
During the 2009 meeting, yet another shareholder who alleges to have been crippled by these drugs, raised these same issues having seen no significant changes in the warnings (regarding the issues raised during the 2008 meeting). Once again a public request for stronger warnings for both ofloxacin and levofloxacin was made. Though the FDA requested additional Black Box Warnings concerning the tendon issues in 2008, these warnings were still not present in the inserts for ofloxacin or levofloxacin that are being dispensed by pharmacists in 2009, prompting this second request by a shareholder for stronger warnings and Dear Doctor Letters." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofloxacin...someone has to be held accountable for the ZERO communication and harm! A chemotherapy drug... Bloody hell!!!!

That's the bugger about the short term memory issues, I forget when something is poisoning me!! - thank you both for your insight. I will now go scream into a pillow...

I am a little worried about some symptoms I think perhaps I should stop the Ciprol to see if the symptoms go. I have a pulling behind the right knee cap, ie. like a puppet string (no pun intended), and my leg won't stretch out normal. Both my ankles have now swollen and feet. What hurts on the right side of my face has a relationship of some sort with the pain behind my knee, then into the groin. All up, not feeling too crash hot.

I stopped taking the Ciprol after my last post. The pain in my lower legs is nothing like I have ever known. My legs are so weak and I NEVER had issues with my lower legs.
You know, I can not wait to die.
