Hello all, In reading.... about the BDD (bovine digital disease) I found these two articles with a "what appears to be safe" remedy. Now here is my question, if anyone knows, since I'm not up to snuff completely on BDD. Isn't BDD a "whole body" infection? I ask that because this article describes how they're treating the BDD lesions on the hooves (simply topically). Now (imho) I sure don't know how that would rid anything internally pertaining to BDD. Do they just "apply this on the hoof, and then that's it" ?? It's CURED or what? Be right back with (what they say) treats BDD lesions.

Hoof care, lesion curettage, and application of 5 % Stryphnodendron adstringens bark extract (S. adstringens (Mart.) Coville) OR 3 % copper sulfate on surgical wounds of cattle were carried out in this research. I remember back in 07 taking (Pine Bark) because of the "tannins" - and now to see (tannins) are what's so concentrated in the Stryphnodendon adstringens bark too.
I never tried applying it topically (back then because my lesion count went down to practically nothing by just taking those "bark supplements that contained tannins". A total of 180 cattle with digital dermatitis were used. They were distributed into six groups of 30 animals each (GI, GII, GIII, GIV, GV, and GVI). In GI and GII, only the sick digit was trimmed; in GIII and GIV, both sick and healthy digits of the lesioned limb were trimmed; and in GV and GVI, all digits were trimmed. During the postoperative period, 5 % S. adstringens extract was applied in GI, GIII, and GV, and 3 % copper sulfate solution was applied in GII, GIV, and GVI. After 60 days of evaluation, the data were analyzed using the Chi-squared test (p ¡Ü 0.05). Both therapeutic protocols utilizing surgical curettage of the lesions were efficient for treating digital dermatitis. However, when the procedure is followed by the trimming of sick and healthy digits, the healing is optimized and a greater number of animals are rehabilitated. www.biomedsearch.com/nih/Stryphnodendron-adstringens-extract-associated-with/23443825.html www.bioportfolio.com/resources/pmarticle/160327/Prevalence-Of-Bovine-Papillomavirus-And-Treponema-Dna-In-Bovine-Digital-Dermatitis-Lesions.html
