The 2,400 word Morgellons Story, written by Chico Harlan, is currently scheduled to run in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette on Sunday, July 23, 2006. (should there be a breaking news situation, it is possible the story could be held for a later date). Ken Cowles, Director Media/Public Relations Morgellons Research Foundation post-gazette.com

Whooooaaaa
I was not expecting that..Mary and the team deserve the nobel peace prize for having to pry open those tiny little closed minds.
I hope the cdc team working on this is as real as this disease.
Thanks to the Pittsburg Post Gazette and all involved here.

If there is an angel associated with Morgellons it's Mary.
She has been and is a guiding influence helping us fight a corrupt and blind medical establishment
Scientists and researchers by definition must have open minds. Dr. Wymore is spot on in saying that a Morgellons patient often faces an Earth-is-Flat mentality when seeking medical help.
This Dark Age mentality is supported and nourished by the Center for Disease Control. So far we have seen no response, only words. Lip service to save face if the Morgellons problem should explode in the public eye.
This same scenario has been playing out with Lyme disease for decades now. No wonder that those with Morgellons wish to distance themselves from the Lyme connection.
We can thank our lucky stars and the few courageous individuals who are willing to stick their personal and pro- fessional necks out-- to lend a helping hand to those who need it most.
Blue Skies.............John

John, you always know exactly what to say and you are also "spot-on" in your observations of this article.
What the doubting public doesn't think about is this......why would reputable doctors and scientists put their personal and professional lives on the line for this if they didn't realize (and see) the truthfulness to it? If they were going to get involved with a new disease (or affliction, whatever you want to call it), there are other ones without all the controversy and stigma attached to it that they could easily have decided upon. They would not put their families or themselves through this if it wasn't real, and serious, and worth exploring.....plain and simple.
Mary, I give you so much credit for putting yourself out there and offering all that you have to help identify this monster we've encountered (monster being twofold: the disease itself and the ignorance of others in a position to help). Thank you for not giving up on us despite certain detours that have been thrown your way. You have no idea how very much we all love and appreciate you!
Hugs! Patti

This article was so well-written and put together. I wasn't expecting the personal nature of the story regarding Mary and her children, but I am so appreciative of her allowing the media to put it all out there. Mary is such a very special and strong woman and has been there for so many in their darkest hours. She deserves a very special award for her perseverance and determination and kind spirit. Thank God for Wymore, Greg Smith and all the others that have also stepped up to the plate and have offered research and support. As more and more articles like this hit the news stands I believe we will get closer to the answer. I pray it will be soon. After reading about Mary's daughter's joint pain and swelling - I am pretty much convinced mine is just another phase of Morgellons. I am going to take this article with me when I go to see the Rheumatologist - as well as several others - plus all my previous medical records. THANK YOU PITTSBURG POST GAZETTE and MARY LEITAO!
