I have a boil like lesion that is enlarging. Underneath is very hard. It is almost like an ingrown hair. Anyone have any idea how to get it to drain as I can barely walk. It is in the groin area.

The only thing I can suggest...and maybe others will have some better suggestions, but I'd say keep applying as warm as you can compresses on it.
Do you have a heating pad or "water bottle" that you can use?
Or sit in maybe dry tub, and allow the water to run from the spiggot, then keep applying a wet hot wash cloth.
The other "alternative", and this is just my thought, take a needle, and go that route...but you may not be as "adventurous" to go that route. If you "don't" have the finest guage needle to work with...then I'd NOT advise it. Needles that are of the finest guage do not hurt whatsoever...as they're fine as a hair. If, you were to do that, use peroxide on the bump too, to really clean it along with neosporin to prevent as much as you can any germs.
My personal motto is...if it's not suppose to be there, I'll do most anything to get it out...but...that's me.
I'm very sorry you're suffering with this unreal incomprehedable thing we cannot get help for.

If there is any possibility that it is an inguinal hernia, get to a doctor right away to prevent bowel stangulation and death. If you are sure it is a boil, I think hot compresses. I think you can google that to be sure. If it is a painful lymphnode, you should see a doctor and I think you should see a doctor if there is any question about this. 22122

22122 is exactly right.....I'm too needle happy when there's a bump/lump that shouldn't be there...but I was only thinking of like a pimple thingie.
Thanks 22122....I see I go into "needle-ville" to quickly. tonie

If you have something that physical and that obvious (that a five year old or even a doctor might notice), I'd go showem. Like a Gynocologist or Infect Dis. They'll at least know what to give for pain. Anything that hurts me... I usually take the quick/easy way of spraying hydrocortisone and lido/benzo caines. But may not be enough for a boil. Think of Job. He got through it... so will we. So 2211221122 <--- Is that your locker code or what? teasing. You say inguinal... I say potato... I mean... I think of nodes. As in lymph. As in the ones near your groin. And how I have several enlarged rock hard ones. I noticed them a year ago and thought what the heck are these bumps. But at that time they were semi hard, semi movable, and semi sized. Only 3 days ago I noticed there were more, bigger, badder, and harder. Being that I am not male these are not the adjectives I care to associate near my groin area. Anyway... wouldn't this be a sign of a localized infection? If not... wouldn't all lymph nodes be just as affected. Wondering if this is a clue of where and how I begat this. Like I begat more than I bargained for. haha whatever.

Besides going to the doctor, of course....
try sea salt baths 2-3 cups in tub -- try vinegar baths 2-4 cups in tub -- try hydrogen pyroxide baths 2 cups @ 35% in a tub.
ONe of them, or all of them, will make a difference. in drying things up and pulling out toxins.
I think the sea salt would be the least painful because our bodies have saline solution in them naturally.
Also, iodine? if your not allegic to it of course. you could also try putting Swedish Bitters compresseson it. or try ionic silver too.
I so hope you get relief soon. I'm sure it must be very painful and quite worrisome.
Hang in there, life

I have these in the same area. Mine are the white balled-up cotton twisted fibers. Most work out painfully on their own, but some get stuck. I've had one there since summer of 2004, my gynecologist dismissed as an ingrown hair. I stopped mentioning that knot to Drs. When the cotton cuts you there and you get drainage, you do need help for the infection. I am taking Cipro right now for that very problem. You can get a cheap little plastic sitz bath pan to soak in with warm water and whatever soothing/healing ingredients you can stand. It's a rough place to have these things, but they seem to like that area. Bless your heart! I know how you feel. Flowerchild

I always thought and I think I used to have enlarged lymph nodes in the area of the thigh joining the body at times and slightly painful about marble size. I remember I had the doctor look at them. Enlarged, they drain the abdominal area and lower bowel and can get about the size of a shooter type marble. I had them enlarged under the arm pits as well. Toreup, though, if you are having difficulty walking, it sounds like something other than a lymph node or boil. Best to check it out. 22122

Make sure it's not one of the hole eating ones. If it is , it will need to be cleaned out. If you have something else going on with this area, a doctor may need to take a look at it. What good would it do? It may need drained or you might get some antibiotics. I hope that helps. The hole eating one can go very deep, so please watch the area closely. Stay safe and I hope some of the home remedies help.

try numbing it with ice and DRAIN it. if it hurts so much ,why not just drain it , not like the pain you experience every day is any worse than the pain it will cause fo rthe few seconds you take to drain it. thats what i would do. make sure you sanitise the needle with a match and/or hydrogen peroxide before using it on yourself, and WASH the area before and after.

Jody, be calm. The hole eating ones can be scary. I know. The only thing I know of that will help close these is the septa. Have you been on the septra? The nose will be a hard area to work on. It's not like your leg or outside on another area. Have you been on some actifed? It a drying agent, which they hate. It helps to dry the area up. We may need the help of some of the others here on this as I don't know what you best option will be for inside the nose. But someone here may have dealt with that. Salt water in nose. Have you done that? Wish I had more answers for you on this one. On the outside I could tell you. Okay, guys, any of you have a nose lesion or had one? Need some of your expertise on inside the nose. I hope we can come up with some things that will get it to heal up. Just keep hanging in. We have many things to use. My nose has been okay so far, but just knowing what others use if this occurs will help both of us.

Swedish Bitters up the nose. When this first started for me -- my nose was a real mess -- inside it and outside as well.
Also, try taking tincture of Myrrh. Myrrh is antimicrobial -- and targets 'wet' areas like the nose and lungs.
Don't take it if your pregnant as it can cause miscarriages.
The ancients used Myrrh for amny things -- including Syphalis.
Thr first night I took Myrrh -- the gums all around my mouth had 'movement' inside them -- like when I take a parasite cleanser.
And my nose cleared. The Bitters is so powerful and strong that (it is also antiparasitical in nature as well as anti-microbial) a person can clear a stuffed up nose just by breathing the vapors.
Hope you try both. I have SW in my mediine cabinet and take it on trips. I went snorkeling, scraped my thigh on corral, kept applying SW compresses to it. No infection. That's pretty amazing when you think how bad an infection a person gets from corral.
Also, the salt wash sounds like a really good idea too. It will all help cauterize as it cleanses.
GeeZ -- I hope you feel better soon, life

Swedish Bitters is at health food stores and I've also found it at Whole Foods.
Let me know if you buy it and what you want to use it on and I'll run through what I know about it.
