Hi all, i have a doctors appointment soon and wanted to be prepared with good questions to ask him and hopefully will cut through time and money. I made the appointment and then thought better of it.
What if he won't prescribe antibiotics, what kind of tests does he take, does he have do do tests that i have already taken else where? Can he do followups on the phone? What does he charge? What if I don't want to follow a particular protocol, then what? Will he continue to treat me? Does he have an open mind? Do i have to see him every month? *** Can you think of anything else pertinent to ask the good doctor?

It would be beneficial to write down all your questions so you won't forget to ask anything. Just begin keeping a journal, and add your questions to it as you think of them.
It also might be a good thing to take a voice recorder to your appointment, if the doctor is agreeable to it. That way, you will be able to go back and listen to his comments and suggestions after the appointment.
Also, I don't know about your doc, but mine had me fill out an extensive (20+ page) questionnaire about all past illnesses and symptoms in the last 10 years. It was really enlightening to me to actually see what I had dealt with over this period of time, because until I was diagnosed, I never realized all the stuff I was experiencing was connected. Some things you think may not apply may be pertinent to your diagnosis and treatment.
If you have had previous tests done, copies of the results might be useful.

nottime, yes, keeping a journal is excellent, and i bought one at Bombay yesterday, marked down for five bucks. So, instead of give it as a present to someone else, i will be its recepient. I took my tests from Dr Busse(out of business now) to a doctor recently, and he did not even look at them, yet he was ordering more of what i already had in my folder. i just never went back to him. So, i am with you on taking the test results to the doctors, if nothing else, he can compare. CBonnie
