You can put the ammonia in a spray bottle - spray your car while you back out - close the door. Smell is gone about half an hour later. Be sure to get under the seats. If you can't hold your breath too long, you'll have to do it in stages.

I don't know if it damages fabrics - I made a decision that it was me first, and material things in my life second. I'm not replaceable but they are.
I haven't noticed any damage to fabrics but over a long time, there could be.
Of course, if you are leasing your vehicle, you might have to consider possible damage.
However, I use 1/4 cup or so of ammonia with every load of laundry.
Spray it full strength everywhere - chairs, floors, desks, and even cleaned my refrigerator with it when I found mold under the produce drawer. And, I spray it full-strength in my truck.
Every now and then, when my computer is turned off, I'll spray the whole desk area with a fine spray.
I sprayed my bookcases with a fine spray too.
I've sprayed inside closets and drawers and shelves at first, but have slowed down. The Candida diet has nearly stopped certain symptoms and previous spraying was heavier at first than now.
Pet areas are sprayed when the pets are out or in other rooms.
Just don't breathe ammonia - and don't mix it with bleach.

Potting soil could be a good vector for this disease. I bought some that had the nematodes in it but was not aware at the time. Something to think about:

Hi Orion,
We're those the nematodes that were suppose to be so helpful or did there just happen to be some in the soil?
Others had their initial outbreak immediately following handling and distributing the helpful ones.

Jodyann, I see the majority of the blue fibers around areas where water has splashed. The kitchen and bathroom counters and sinks are the worst. Just about every time I turn the water on in the kitchen, what appears to be a fiber, floats up. We do not have well water though.
