I dont know why but when I went to the doctor with the lump that has appreared on my male breast...(it is not a surface lesion)..so they cant say I caused it hah !! The GP doctor felt and of course goes .."its nothing just a cyst" well doctor ive had this for 3 months...and in 1987 I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis...hmmm (very relectently) I will ask my attending.......20 minutes later he comes back...The attending says we should do a ultrasound.....so after 5 years this is the first time I have got past the GP gatekeeper....amazing..exspecting nothing

I would expect nothing. Sorry, Jeff. Why the hell don't they biopsy it? What do you think is gonna show up in an ultrasound? ? What kind of GP do you have?

I had a cyst they called a lump and did a lumpectomy, was pre-cancer so all was fine, although that boob now lays a bit lower than the other anyway I'd say ask for a biopsy cause men do get breast cancer. As for the sonogram, I had one to. after the mamogram showed something they followed it with a sonogram, said that helps them to know if it's a cyst or mass. My little country "good" doctor that I saw a few years back "he looked and he believed" he sent me for a sonogram of my belly to look for parasites. It came back neg. Good luck jeff and please follow through with the sonogram, who knows maybe they will find a little person in there that beeps Love and good luck, SueinMD

Heck why don't they just remove the darn cyst! I have never understood the medical practice of "we'll just keep an eye on this suspicious lump and see if it changes" attitude. Of course if all suspicious lumps were removed there would be a lot less women who would need to be treated for breast cancer, a big money maker for doctors, surgeons, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. I had a friend with a questionable lump. She was in her mid twenties. Doctors kept telling her they would keep an eye on it and not to worry about it. Well, she is dead now after an agonizing fight with breast cancer that involved multiple surgeries, chemo, a lot of pain and suffering and a medical bill of over 100,000. Needle biopsies are sometimes used for suspicious lumps. I endured a needle biopsy once and it was ridiculous. The doctor completely missed the lump during the first visit. After the second visit I had been jabbed approx. a dozen times and only a couple of the jabs resulted in a useful biopsy speciman. The doctor still seemed uncertain that the lump had been adequately biopsied. If one considers all the time and energy taken to "watch" a suspicious lump, doctors's visit every four-six months, mammograms, biopsies ...plus the worry and stress that one might be developing cancer, wouldn't it be alot less trouble and safer to just remove the lump?

No one knowes what this is So we go for a bi opsy or ultra sound and nothing that is known to man is ever found Because it aint known to man yet . Many of us have had the fleshy tumors Best to get them checked for what is known though like Cancer But when it comes back fibers , Thank God it wasn't Cancer I drove a gal crasy but thank God for her friendship and do to this day cause I was in terror and run mode for a long time and the more I tried to figure this out the crasier it made me . I still have bad days and thank God she is there for me .. cause no therapist can solve this either

Jeff,
I've had a lump in the left breast for 8 to 10 years now. My only consolation is that I am still here and no big time cancer issue has surfaced. I did get them to do an ultrasound about 4 or 5 years ago, but no biopsy was offered. The lump seems to go up and down somewhat in size and varies in tenderness. The women technicians got a good laugh doing the exam procedure on a man. I'm sure they really knew what they were looking for (like it was the only tissue present). But, an aquantance's father died from breast cancer, so I do take it seriously. I have had many undiagnosed issues and discomforts inside my chest below the lump or "subaceous cyst". I have an appointement in a couple of weeks to try to get the GI Doctor to do an MRI of my entire gut/chest. That is, after I see a neurolgist to try to get an MRI of my skull/brain to see what is causing my newly found mild headaches about 50% of the time and recent inability to handle the heat (low 90's), temporarily vertically blurred in one eye only. I was told to get the skull MRI by my alternative/complementary medicine doctor. I'm hoping that the cause for this one is two "diseased-dead" upper jaw teeth recently found on x-ray by my dentist.
Best of Luck with your tests.

Good luck freind~
