Am starting to become disturbed by what I'm finding at the supermarket. Last week I bought some LaChoy fortune cookies at a local supermarket. I noticed that there was some dust on the box. Didn't think much of it. Thought it wasn't an item people buy frequently and disregarded that. Yesterday as a special treat for my daughter I went to open the package...noticing the expiration date of July 2007. Oh well, I thought....I will open and see. OMG....THERE WERE LIVE MAGGOTS INSIDE THE TOP OF THE BOX!!
Last week I picked up a bag of delicious black cherries we had been buying for weeks on end due to being so good. Well I took a pass on that .... THE INSIDE OF THE BAG WAS COVERED IN LIVE GNATS....YUK.
No wonder some of us are having insect infestation issues. Gross.
I screamed at the maggot thing and my daughter came running..I didn't want to tell her why I screamed..but she forced it out of me.
Anyone for fortune cookies?

Bugsy, You are so right on.
We too have been thoroughly disgusted with all kinds of bug pieces in the stuff from the store. We've recently found:
* Bug legs imbedded in paper towels. * A live fly inside an unopened case of Charmin TP. * Dozen ants inside plastic container of wipes. * Bug parts in manicotti shells. * Plus all sorts of filth in most paper goods... disgusting.
I don't remember it being so gross ever before. We're actually taking little movie clips and documenting it for future use. I agree with you... this is making us all sick. Who's responsible?

I remember reading a while back......................long before I got this disease that the FDA says it's OK for a certain amount of bugs or bug parts to be in the food when they do their inspection.
Perhaps they have raised the percentage of allowed bugs/bug parts. OR Too many bugs now become nearly impossible to control it in our food.
