Hey kids, here's a neat experiment you can do at your very own home! All you need is:
You:----------------------------------->
mysterious parasite infestation-->
Their extremely active, insanity inducing escape from your body, affectionately known as "the Herx."
And one of these---------->
As they are ripping through your skin as either:
you will lose your mind from the skin crawling, itching, pain...that's the exact perfect time to SEE WHAT SCIENCE WILL SHOW YA! ...
*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#
It's eye opening, that's for sure. This image I posted is a low-res image for posting online, but if you have Photoshop or some other image editing software in which you can magnify images, then download the big image linked below because you can see just how many things can crawl in, on and through you at one time. This low-res image doesn't even do justice because until you magnify the high-res version, you don't see the little tiny black wormy-mites. I don't know what else to call them, but they move fast and these, I swear to the deity you pray to, were hopping.
Because I havea crappy scanner, it made this greenish hue, the lint tape is white. I was freaking out at 4am this morning to be sure. I had just had a bath an hour or two prior to this, and I wound up getting back in and sitting in the tub for 3 hours, while they scrawled and scratched and uncomfortably tickled and pricked their way through, on, over, and worst--UNDER my skin.
So, here was my last herx which I now share with you:
A: The dreaded and feared Fiber Wyrm in its nearly hairlike stage. This one was still squirming (no AC or fan was on) after I pulled it off the scanner nearly 6 hours later. And if you look at the high-res version, you'll see there were several of them. These are what can hide in your Q-tips and cotton balls.
B: I don't know what the hell that is. An eggsack? A turd? Part of a big nasty bug that got fat and old and died a ripe old age sucking on my blood for its whole life?
C: These are those wormy-mites. They were so small, I couldn't tell but they looked longer than a mite, but they hopped and can dig a hole in you so fast 10 of them will be in you before you dig just one of them out.
D: A red fiber by-product of whatever it is they do to make the fibers. Mine are usually white or black. I've not noticed them red before. Maybe it means they LIKE me...
E: The white circles distributed through the image below encircle regular, traditional looking mite-like balls that were too small to see if they had legs or anything. But there were a ton of them, too.

Don't forget your lint roller. I ran it lightly over my arms and legs, torso, face, neck and hair over about 5-10 minutes. Then we looked at the nasty friggers under the microscope to add further terror to our woefully taxed psyches...
HAVE FUN KIDS, AND REMEMBER: Science is the STUDY of nature, not the means by which humanity can tinker with the genetic building blocks of an organism to make it something so destructive that it brings about the first plague of the Armageddon...we want to keep THAT fro happening.
So long!

a fiber nematode, or a mite-like bug, or even that happy little feather larva
