I've always been borderline anemic. Also after I had surgery I lost a lot of blood and wondered if that had anything to do with this, because I have not been well since. It was about seven months after surgery I came down with morgellons.
I even wondered if I picked this up in surgery, but it took seven months to make it's presense known to me.

I'm not anemic lately, but when I was on chemo several years ago, like all chemo patients, I was very much so, since it took out some of the red cell production.

I know males aren't supposed to take extra iron, but if there are any women here who have, has it done anything?

Yes, yes, yes! I am anemic right now, and have chronic problems with it because of--well--female problems. We'll leave it at that. Anyway, I have wondered about that, too. Good thread. Maybe we'll have a lightbulb moment and figure something out!

I had hernia op about two years ago--down hill ever since. Tip if you are anemic--get some vitamin B-12 -liquid and take it sublingually (hold under the toung) As we age it is difficult to make enough B12 especially if you have digestive problems. Go to www.mercola.com and put vitamin B12 in his search engin. It will help your energy level come up.

So many unknowns... I was advised to have a blood transfusion. Through a series of events,(lack of communication between Drs' and hosp.) I decided going to the Dr all of the time and being told I don't have what I know i do have is making an old man out of me! I'm tired, tired of being looked at like I am a nut and just plain TIRED.

I also had surgery and just never quite recovered. I hemmorreged (sp?) badly after surgery. It was about eight months after later that I came down with Morgellon symptoms. I wondered if the blood loss could have caused some kind of blood disease or a deficiency of some kind.
Then again, maybe I picked it up at the surgery center.

This disease seems to attack people who have comprimised immune system---or have some other ailment that is comprimising their health...wether it be diet--underlying health conditions--or environmental . It can cause thyroid problems, adrenal mal function and probablt many other that are too numerous to mention...When a Dr, exaamines you he probably don't know where to start. Easier to write an Rx to get rid of you.

Froe what I've read, if you have a comprimised digestive tract you will not absorbe or convert enzymes needed for blood production---if your over 50 you had better seriously consider suplimenting vitamin B-12...You are not absorbing enough or making enough in the gut.

PS; Either that or you are having problems with heme synthysis in the liver---your liver stores the iron from the break down of old blood cells. It could be that if you are deficient in iron there could be a number of reasons--one size does not fit all . Dark or coffee colored urine is a sign that you are losing the iron do to liver enzyme problems. With so many toxic remedies being tried it is a wonder that some are not suffering from kidney or liver problems. This is a dangerous disease and if it don't kill you the treatment might--best to approch cautiously--I am --one baby step at a time.

PS again: Pain under the left rib by the disphram is a good indication that you have a blood infection--that's the spleen crying out for help--there ain't nothing else there.
