While waiting for my family to get over the fact that I AM NOT CRAZY, I have tried various items I had in my home to help with the critters that bite/itch/sting. Two of the best items I dug out to use were a huge oscillating fan (I still keep the house cold w/ the AC) and an air purifier. I don't know what all I blow around with the fan but sleep sure has gotten better at night and I have actually begun to sit in an area for more than 5 seconds without running from what ever it was after me. The industrial size air purifier was full of all kinds of goop when my husband cleaned it out the other day. (My husband finally came around as a believer when he saw all the critters that came out of him when I enticed him into a salt water whirlpool 2 weeks ago.) It's amazing what innovative ideas crazy people can come up with. ;D

We, too have thought about one of those air purifiers...the kind that ionizes (?) the air...like during a thunderstorm?? Anyway, we can't afford one right now, but it would work great, I bet. Glad your hubby came around!

ItchnTexas- The kind of Air Purifier I have is NOT one of the Ionizers. I have a HEPA type filtration system. Looked at the ratings of them on the Allergybuyers.com web site before purchase. They have some good info on their site about various types of products. The system I have can be quiet loud when it's on it's highest setting but it sure can do some air suckin'. Also has a UV light for the molds.

Bugs don't like fans. I use one all the time. It keeps them off me at night, so I can at least sleep. If you want misquitoes to stay off you outside. Put a fan on the porch or near where you are sitting. It sounds silly, but, it works.

I agree completely with the fan idea. I have the ceiling fans on in every room and sleep with a fan next to my bed at night. The hum of it also helps me sleep....covers up all the noises that could wake me up.
