Question:
Have you taken antibiotic and or fungal combinations for Lyme (prescribed by qualified medical ) that proved helpful for Lyme?
What combinations simultaneously? prescribed dose if you recall? duration?
Reason- I will be receiving my Lyme test and CD 57 results and want to
be conversant on possible medication combinations.
Example- For a short duration, I took Biaxin and Fluconazole. I was supposed to also include bactrim but did not.
During the time I took Biaxin and Fluconazole symptoms improved.
This was back in spring of 2006. I am hoping I can repeat this combination again but aware that drugs have to be switched as it may not be as effective again.
So, I repeat the question. Have you experienced good results with another combination?
I know the penicillian family can strip cell walls and create cell-wall deficient bacteria. Therefore, I'm not in favor of penicillian familyof antibiotics for treatment. Likewise, there was a new drug called
Keytec (sp) prescribed in Lyme treatment but the literature suggested high incidence of liver damage and some deaths. It was pulled from the market. (I could have agreed to a protocol with a combination of both drugs if I didn't read up on the side effects or possible outcomes.)
Therefore, I become a fairly uncooperative patient because I am not trusting. In the above case, I think my caution was correct.
What combinations have proved effective for you if you care to share?
Thanks for your input.
Betsy
p.s. maybe I will show improvement and not need to consider a regime--just want to be somewhat prepared.
