That will probably turn into a neighborhood gestapho, if it hasn't already.

OMG! I really wonder how all of this came about. Are they getting paid tax dollars for this extra responsibility or are they just doing it for brownie points? These people go into homes and scope everything out and customers are paying for this? Paying to be spied on? Maybe the little Girl Scout that comes around to sell cookies every year can be a spy too?

I agree with Candy.....I think it's just extra sets of ears and eyes to help deter the breaking and entering of homes. It even says ".......but if they see some two-legged creatures trying to make their way into your home, they'll call the police."
I realize there is a lot of Big Brother controversy right now and much of it may be true, but I don't think this is one of those cases. And to use the word "gestapo" is going a bit overboard, in my opinion. But you have your opinion too, and that's what makes the world go 'round.
gestapo....... A police organization that employs terroristic methods to control a populace.
adj. Of, relating to, or characteristic of the German security police organized under the Nazi regime.

I'm very thankful that I'm not someone living in Orlando, needing to call upon the services of an exterminator. The very idea that this is being done makes my blood run cold. Now, if they can just stick to their job of killing bugs on the premises while they're snooping around, playing detective.
If you see no wrong in it, and look for no further implications beyond that which has been said in this article, that is your prerogative. I'm certain, beyond any doubt, that the government will apply these surveillance techniques to all service technicians, and such, visiting all of our homes in the future.
It puts a new spin on invasion of privacy, for me, regardless of the comment made by the spokesperson for that particular company. If you have anything suspicious looking, to the bug man, lying around your own home, that he may decide warrants further investigation, well, consider what we really have going on here.
I wonder how many will be installing bugs, of another type, while they're supposed to be getting rid of insects. It definitely puts a new spin on invasion of privacy, even if anyone mistakes it as sounding kosher. So does a lot of crap we're getting nowadays. It's just the tip of the iceberg. You'll see.

Sorry but I still don't see it that way. I see nothing written in that article about them snooping on "us" as they spray our homes. It only infers that they will be keeping an eye on the neighborhoods as they go about their days.
Maybe I'm naive, but I don't look for conspiracy around every corner. Too much suspicion and not enough faith will infect a soul with negative energy. This will then not only affect that person's outlook on life but it also spreads to those who come around that person.
I guess this would be a very boring world if we all thought the same way.

I was about to say the same thing Anne, I agree with you and Patty. I think that some people look too much for the bad while others try and focus on the good. doesnt mean one is better than the other but in my opinion the last one will be a happier person. Its a choice given to us all.

Your views seem as foreign to me, as mine must seem to you. I can see the roots of something taking place in this article, that I know will be catching on, and proliferating in the future.
I'm certainly above offering a personal commentary on the type persons you are, thank you.

Hello Everybody,
I can see that not very many of you know what is going on. Your personal freedoms are being swept right out from underneath your feet, and you're too blind to realize it!! This country is on the very edge of the abyss, and it's about to fall in. I'm not an alarmist, and I'm certainly not exaggerating. The whole 911 incident was staged by our government and some of our allies. This horrible mass murder was falsely and knowingly blamed on the Al Queda by our president. This resulted in the formation of the Department of Homeland Security and the nit-wit that heads it. It also resulted in the implementation of the Patriot Acts which rob us of many of our personal freedoms and reduces the United States to nothing less than a police state. Our President has authorized the use of torture in order to accomplish the purposes of our military. This has turned the United States into a third world country.
Have you read the Downing Street Memos? Our President decided to invade Iraq in 2002, and the memos say that our intelligence will be counterfeited around the policy. Have you read UN Agenda 21? Take the time. It's well worth the read. As long as this is a free country, which isn't going to be very long if things keep moving in the direction they are moving them, we each have a right to our opinions. But our President has recently declared that it is anti-semitism to say that the Mossad played a roll in 911. The fact is, the Zionists have started every major revolution this world has ever known. But despite the fact that we have the right to our own opinions, we don't have a right to our own facts! The world is being dumbed-down by the Illuminati for the implementation of the New World Order, and that will be the end of the United States of America. These are facts, no matter how hard they are to swallow!

I don't think we need to worry either way. It is only going to take the drug dealers one or two hits on the "yellow bugs" before the pest folks never return to that neighborhood. If I were an employee of that pest company I would have turned in my resignation that day stating that I would not be putting my life in harms way.
In my opinion the Pest folks opened themselves up to risk AND litigation. It's one thing to see criminal activity and report it as any good citizen should do. By making it newsworthy it appears that they are going above and beyond a civic duty. And honestly I don't have anything to hide -- got over that a couple years after college.
Wonder how the police would react if the Pest folks reported a house they visited that had little specimens taped all over the place, specimens in jars, two microscopes sitting out and notes on the desk with words like germicidal, spores, fibers, nematode, bacteria -- I might be considered a bio-terrorist. Man guess I better get to bed I'm building up my own hysteria.
