If we want to stop this onslaught on human citizens, we can
take action now.
Demand a Strong Consumer Bill
Defective and dangerous products – from lead-painted toys to vacuum cleaners that catch fire – are being allowed onto store shelves and into our homes.
We helped push the Senate to pass strong reforms for the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Now members of Congress are being selected to hold a conference that will decide the fate of our efforts. We need your help to ensure that the final bill will take a strong stand on protecting consumers.
Currently, the CPSC does not have the power to adequately protect the public. Some key reforms we are fighting for are a consumer database to provide the public with access to information on defective products, more protections for whistleblowers who report product safety violations, and better enforcement of safety laws by state attorneys general.
These consumer-friendly provisions must be defended from industry attacks. With the bill headed to conference, industry is making a last-ditch effort to derail or further weaken the bill behind closed doors, which is why your members of Congress need to hear from you NOW.
Tell Congress the CPSC should protect American consumers, not manufacturers!
Personalize the letter below and demand that your members of Congress pass the strongest possible bill for consumers – and block industry’s attempts to weaken the bill.
