My Dr was curious if people with no lesions were smokers. I am and apparently smoke can affect granulomas. I had nightmare symptoms-moving hair, biting, crawling, etc. Oh and the unimaginable terror--INSECTS! Till my dying day, I will be amazed that I didnt have a total mental breakdown. My mom says sometimes we're better off not knowing whats ahead. I dont know if I will ever feel "safe" again.

Oops. I wasnt clear- smoking can DETER granulomas. My Dr wondered if the NONsmokers got lesions and if smoking actually prevented lesions. She said she cant make herself say ANYTHING positive about smoking though! One thing I love about her is she doesnt insult patients by nagging or scare tactics. She says something once and trusts that an adult "gets it". She thinks out loud alot so this ? may lead to nothing. But ya just never know.

Oh goodness, I'll vouge for this one.
I "had" for over a year, non stop lesions (with the utmost) consistency. Every 2 weeks, without fail, I got approx (no exaggeration at all) but I broke out in approx 100 brand spanking new lesions.
Just a soon as the last batch of 100 were healing up, it was time for a new batch to break out, and I had this consistenly without fail, every two weeks and 3 days this happened. (every 17 days to be exact).
I know (or I fully believe) a part of Morgellons being parasites, the parasites are lymphatic (the ones I have anyways)
How do I know this for fact?
Because every single lesion 100's and 100's over a years time (approx 1,500 total lesions I doctored in that time, maybe more) and they broke out on my body symmetrically!
Every single one of them. For every 50 on the right side (every 2 weeks) , I had them in the exact same place on my left side.
So I knew then, there are no "external critters" biting me, cause they can't map out where the others had bitten on the one side to match on the other side.
And I smoke and have for a long time.
Personally, I don't feel cigarettes has anything to do with bringing on or turning off Morgellons or rather the lesions, because I know non smokers who have and don't have lesions.
I "feel" that whether or not we have lesions, depends on whether or not they (the parasites) we individually might have are or have migrated to the outer dermis.
I believe that some that have neurological symptoms, is because parasites will and can cause those kinds of problems. So it's dependent on whether the parasites are making their way into our organs or staying more in our cutaneous.
It's important to keep our bodies alkalined, so they can't migrate into our organs...and if they do, the alkalined body will help destroy them too, along with taking herbs that kill parasites.
Give them an environment they hate with everything you eat.

No lesions here, I dont smoke. I did break out in something all over my scalp in the beggining though, little sores/ im not sure if I would call them lesions. They healed in a couple of weeks. And that was 6 years ago.

Vivi,
Sounds like you have a really terrific doctor. That is wonderful!
My husband and I don't smoke and we don't have lesions.
Does anyone in your home experience Morgellons' symptoms as well? If so, do you think they got it from you.
(One of my husband's first symptoms was "sand blowing on his face" and when that happened, he also knew something really bad had happened. His very first symptom was cobweb feelings on his face, then a red half moon shaped mark on his nose that expands and contracts, itchy scalp, then the sand blowing feeling)

OUIT about 10 years or so ago and no open lesions yet! Just the ones I keep picking at !! But I bought a pack the other day and enjoy one once in a while, I'm hoping that will be it, they cost too much and I heard they are going up in price. massena

Pack a day smoker here. Had three horrible rashes at the beginning of this, but no open lesions. Since stopping the borax and Nizoral for the second time (see my thread "Human Petri dish') I now have three very itchy bumps, one on each arm and one on my leg that are expelling little fiber bundles. Guess I'm in for a bumpy ride. No pun intended. Do these qualify as lesions?

Non smoker. Lesions all over which come on about every two or three weeks with new ones-or sooner. cycles but at the same time, there are always itchy spots containing the sandy stuff, fibers, black dots etc.

You know now that you guys are talking about bump/lumps I have had one on my left butt cheek and it itches like crazy , should I expect one on my right cheek? The problem is I can't see back there to know if there are fibers or not! Are these the things that turn into lesions? SIGNED worried, massena

I have never smoked......the symptoms of Morgellons, from moving hairs trying to imbed themselves into my body, to lesions in my scalp (very bad) and body.....I have a scope, and yes I did have some collembola, what looked like worms, spiders, beetles. Miscroscopic, and not that many. I have had this for two years, and the symptoms are subsiding very gradually since I was treated for Lymes.
Hope this helps....you are lucky to have a doctor who cares, I found one a great idstance away, and moved to be near him after being laughed at, told I need a psychiatrist, and refusal to even give me a Lyme test.
I lived in Florida when this all started.

Massena,
Just something you can or not try. I know this has worked for Mr Toni when he's gotten serious itchies.
If you can make a patch, (out of saran wrap) with tape on the sides, and put on your rear end (plain yogurt), yep, I kid you not, and then slap on a square of saran wrap over the plain yogurt where it's not too small where it moves off the spot, but big enough to cover even around that itchy spot, and then tape it...so it stays for at least 8 hours, I think you might experience TONS of relief.

Very heavy smoker here, my office is in my basement so I even smoke at work. I've tried to quit many times, no luck yet, still at 3 packs a day but I don't sleep much.
I've had the lesions for about 27 years now, for many years I'd get 2 or 3 on the back of my head, had biopsy many many years ago, was told it was from stress, OK So Tom would rub my head/neck and say hey what are you worried about? You have a new worry bump, thats what we called them. I'd break out about every 7 to 8 weeks and it would take just as long for them to heal.
Then came the pure hell of morgellons, Oct. 04 I broke out with my so called "worry bumps" from head to toe. I call this going full blown because thats when Morgellons stoled my life from me.
All along I've been a very heavy smoker.
Yes I also am happy for you that you have a doctor wondering these questions. I don't think smoking or not smoking has anything to do with getting Morgellons. I do think it will lower our immune system making it harder to heal and it also makes our capillaries (sp) smaller so we don't get good blood supply to some areas.
