Hi all, Thought I should share this with you. Two months back after having got this stuff very much under control I deliberately set out to see if my attempts at control were actually working. I stopped bathing with Nizoral and borax to see what would happen. After a month I had a fair size uncontaminated sample to bring to the homeopath's office. He decided that he would try concocting a remedy and used the whole sample to do so. Oops! the fibers and secretions are not soluble in alcohol. Back to the drawing board. I am discontinuing the borax and Nizoral again in order to produce a new crop and a possible remedy for my condition by another means. BTW when Nizoral and borax are used the fibers turn black and appear fragile as if they had withered. So for this month I am a human petri dish again.

Very good thinking and process you've got going on! ;D
When you said you wanted to produce another (crop) which I couldn't help but chuckle (cause I know what you mean)...is it just fibers? Or the gel stuff too?
Cause if you can watch the gel (ethanol alcohol) which is in the pump bottle called :
Waterless handsanitizer gel
That "along" with milk, I've watched it under the scope and it breaks it up.
The regular rubbing alcohol, is isopropyl alcohol and seems to do nothing to our specimens, but preserve them.
It was interesting what you said about the borax whithering like to the fibers.
I don't know exactly what the chemisty makeup is of borax, but you know how it's "hot" sort of if you hold it in your hands? Maybe it's sort of 'burning it".
And I'm glad you have someone looking with you.

Yes Sky, life with Morgellons is very interesting, and since I have a morbid interest in the process at this point and know I can get it back under control easily, why not try something new. Actually was going to try to get that sample to Mark Darrah, but that was about the time Stonybrook pulled his privileges . When my homeopath saw the size of the sample his eyes lit up and he suggested trying to convert it into a remedy. Toni-Sue, with my disease it is now just the fibers red, blue and clear and a sebum-like substance that surrounds it. It was a lot worse when I first got sick. The amber gel was early days, at least six years ago. Borax is in the salt family refined from the boron that is mined in Florida among other places, don't remember it's exact name. Sea salt , regular salt have been used by others here with varying degrees of success, 20 Mule Team borax is cheap, available at the grocery store and very effective. All those red and blue fibers turn black and crumpled looking when I use the combination of Nizoral and borax. Not exactly a beauty treatment ,but it keeps this junk under serious control without breaking the bank or poisoning me. My homeopath has been a real lifeline, can't say enough about the help he has given me to get through this nightmare.

Don't know where you are located , Massena, but I have found it at Walgreens (drugstore) and at the local King Kullen supermarket. Look in the laundry section. Very common laundry additive , lots of uses listed on box and they all work.

Four years ago I tried to control it and disinfect my comb in the regular rubbing alcohol, isopropyl alcohol. As you noted, it did not work. It appeared as though stuff was growing on the comb and in the covered plastic container. Into the trash it went. Ever since then I have been pitching my comb and replacing it with a new one every few months. Fortunately, I no longer feel like I am the comic strip character "Pig Pen" with the Morgellons physical evidence cloud following me. www.jackbean.net/pigpen.gifwww.nwnjmediacenter.org/clipart/charlie%20brown.gif

I sure know what you mean when the fibers look crumpled, brittle, almost like dried out and dead and I bet it was the borax baths i was taking back then.
I have several deep holes down below where tons of black specks and worm like creatures would come out when I did my soaks.
Many months later, after I was feeling much better, one of the deep holes kept itching so I got my sharp tweezers and went into the hole. I pulled out a wad of those crumpled up, dry looking, kinky, dead looking red fibers.
They no longer had that bright Magenta like color, they were a dull dark red so I declared them dead ;D
Now I have a better idea what killed them, I was trying so many different things back then, one being my borax bath.
Good to know in case I ever return to pure Morgie hell again. Thanks for posting this info. justhanginin and I'm so glad you have a good medical provider.
Homeopaths are so wonderful when it comes to thinking outside the box. Thank heavens for them.
P.S.
I always find the borax in the laundry section Messena, just about all grocery stores carry it. Justhanginin just proved to me it was the borax that helped me, give it a try cause it works.
It's a wonderful feeling finding them dead, it feels so good. I was trying so many different things, so glad to now know what did it thanks to our justhanginin sharing her findings.
Thats whats so great about our group, we share what works for us and what gives no help at all, has saved me $$$$$$$$ and with this horror and our out of pocket cost sharing info. helps us all so much.
My love to all, SueBe

20 Mule Team Borax is a trade name for a borax used primarily for cleaning purposes. The name was first registered in 1894 when deposits of borax were discovered in Death Valley, a desert that makes other deserts envious. In order to economically move the ore to a place where there was enough water to refine it teams of twenty mules pulling two ore wagons and a water tank weighing a total of 36 1/2 tons (one metric ton) were used. The one way trip was about 160 miles, climbed 2000 ft and took 10 days. Muleskinners earned $120 a month at a time when 50 a month was a high wage. Borax or Hydrated sodium borate, Na2B4O7 -10H2O, is a mineral ore of interlocked chains of boron, hydrogen, oxygen , water, and sodium. It is often found in dried playa lake beds. A playa lake is one that fills with rain water thern dries out leaving various salts. The simplest refining method is to boil the ore in water, add carbonated soda which causes the borax to disolve and impurities to settle out. The water borax mixture is poured off and cooled, borax crystals form and are collected. Borax is a water softener, cleanser, whitener and disinfectant. But the fortunes that were made from the Death Valley deposits were due to its use in other industrial processes, such as metal refining, glass and ceramic making, medicines, cosmetics, insecticides, in agriculture, treating lumber and other materials against rot, fungus, termites, and fire. Borax is also used in making boric acid and the metal boron, both of which also have many uses. In the fifties and into the sixties the TV show Death Valley Days was sponsored by 20 Mule Team. One of the hosts of the show who introduced the 'based on fact' Western stories was Pre-presidential Ronald Reagan. Imagine driving 20 Mules! I bet the muleskinners had to invent whole strings of brand new cuss words just to get um to pull. Then at the end of the haul Ol' Ronnie Reagan would wash their mouths out with 20 Mule Team Borax. 3 Pts Rate Answer

Folks you are missing the other ingredient in the mix, besides the 1/2 cup of borax, Nizoral shampoo. It is anti-fungal. I also use a special washcloth Beauty skin cloth, can be found over the web, used to be at walmart too. Don't immerse it after you put the shampoo on and it will make enough suds to wash your whole body. Makes the expensive bottle of shampoo go a very long way.

That's incredible Justhanginin. And I sure agree, Nizoral at the beginning of this nightmare, my scalp use to hurt so bad I couldn't even touch my hair, because it felt like someone was pulling on it.
And Ketoconazole is what is in Nizoral shampoo. I got the tube of the cream, and posted about it many times, how taking just a pea size amount of the Ketconazole cream, and putting that into an "empy Visine bottle" or any little bottle with one ounce of water, then shaking that up, and putting it onto the scalp 3X a week, totally got rid of any scalp issues.
Took doing that for awhile, but it worked.
Now what I do is the yogurt and milk mix slapped on the head till it dries, and that sucks out all these tiny little black specks from inside the scalp that we wouldn't even know are there.
What happens is...once that "mix" dries, view the tiny "salt like granules" that form (when it's bone dry on the head) and view that under at least 100X magnification. You'll see. That sucks the black specks out, that who knew were even there!
I still do that and then I follow with an antimicrobial soap, just for maintenance type thing.
I've not had any "goo or formations" on my roots, but I think had I not used the (Nizoral shampoo and the Ketoconazole cream) in the beginning, there would have been problems.

I haven't had any scalp issues to date ,but wash my hair with the Nizoral every so often anyway. Sort of a preventative measure. Wear my hair completely away from my face because the feel of it brushing against my face would freak me out.

Thanks suebe, justhanginin, and godsgrace for the locator on the borax. Just wanted to say I tried what Toni said about the hand sanitizer with ethyl alcohol ...without the milk and it worked wonders. You won't believe the black specks that come out of my skin on my hands. I used this stuff before but never noticed any specks but after reading what Toni wrote I think the key is to rub/massage into the skin" WORK IT" . Thanks Toni .I'm going to try the borax and Nozoral shampoo next, I'm currently using Castile soap with a couple of drops of peppermint or eucalyptus oil and Henna for a conditioner. The weird thing is I have to use so much shampoo cause my hair soaks it up but not so on the conditioner, maybe my hair is to full of shampoo to drink up the conditioner or it's to thick , I wonder??? I don't have lesions but my hair dances like crazy and trys to bite my face, eyes, mouth , I also can't stand my hair touching any part of my face/skin I will try the yogurt and milk Toni suggested, I would think you would make a paste and apply to the hair/head? How long does it take to dry ,maybe I should wrap my head up with a towel and go about my business till dry. Anyway thanks for all the good tips. take care ,massena
