On Wednesday I got a card in the mail as a reminder that I have a dental appointment on July 13th for my regular cleaning. As I looked at the date, I realized that was the same day I had an appointment already booked for my return visit to the Jemsek Clinic up in Huntersville for them to check my progress in beating the Lyme/Morgellons Disease. I knew I could not do both in the same day, so I called the dentist office to reschedule that appointment.
When the receptionist answered, I said, "Since the last time I was here I have been very sick and was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and 3 coinfections. I got a card in the mail regarding my appointment on 7/13 and it is the same day I have to go back to the doctor at the Jemsek Clinic in Huntersville for a recheck, so I need to change my appointment with ya'll."
She said, "Did you say Lyme Disease?"
I said, "Yep!"
She said, "Oh my! We think Dr. ______ (my dentist) might have Lyme. Several months ago he found three ticks on him and one of them was embedded in his skin. He pulled it off, but several days later he felt very sick, ran a high fever and was aching all over, so he went to the doctor thinking he might have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, but he tested negative for that." The receptionist said, "He got over the fever, but has never felt right since then."
She went on to tell me that he had missed quite a bit of work and even went back to his primary care physician to be tested for Lyme and that test came back negative too.
I told her that most doctors do not give the right tests and told her about Jemsek Clinic and that Dr. ______ should give them a call and try to get in. She told me it was so crazy... that here he was a medical professional himself and could not get the doctors to listen to him regarding his symptoms. Of course nobody knows for sure at this point whether he has Lyme or not. But knowing that the tick was attached, the immediate symptoms following that and his subsequent symptoms...the chances are very good that he has Lyme and/or a coinfection or two.
I did call the dentist office back and spoke to the receptionist again to see if he was able to get an appointment with Jemsek. He was told they were booked for months and they would give him a call if they could work him in at any time. I guess it was a good thing I got in there when I did, huh? I better guard my July 13th appointment as if it were gold or something!
Also, one day about two weeks ago a total stranger heard me talking to another woman about my Lyme/Morgellons story. She approached me and said she hoped I did not think she was eavesdropping, but couldn't help but listen with interest because her 18 year old daughter had recently been diagnosed with Lyme and was going to the same Lyme Clinic I was.
Yesterday I was contacted by a friend where I work regarding a man who attends that church in the Spanish congregation - who was diagnosed with Lyme and has been being treated for a year with no progress and he is very depressed. His wife has asked my friend if I would be willing to come talk to him - which of course I will be more than happy to do.
AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO LYME DISEASE IN NORTH CAROLINA??? SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
