As more and more of us switch to organic diets or at least healthier diets don't forget man's best friend. Dog and cat foods are even worse than TV dinners. If you have given up TV dinners for a healthier alternative you should really check out the terrible stuff thats in pet foods. They are full of stuff thats way beyond nasty. If your dog is showing symptoms of disturbed digestion you might want to start w/ 3-4 cups ground (organic is ideal) turkey, chicken (duck if your rich) add 1 cup cooked barley and one cup thin sliced cooked green beans, Make into patties and freeze. Put in a little brewer's yeast for flavor if desired. Cook as needed .I feel better knowing my fur baby isn't being poisened with unknown ingredients. L & L, ibzahp

I agree with you completely Ibzahp!!!
My dog gave me Morgs, not doubt about that. She was one sick bitch. Ha bitch in the real sense of the word. ;D
I make her food, a 2 pound log of turkey and the same of ground beef, chicken thighs, chicken and/or beef liver, chicken hearts and gizzards, a big ol' bag of spinach, a big bag of broccoli slaw, a bunch of parsley and a bunch of cilantro and a couple cups of uncooked rice in three BIG MOMMA pots.
My dog, besides from being completely psychologically neurotic has been pretty healthy. She's nine now, hasn't been sick for at least 6 years. We love our pets, we should try our best to feed them healthy food.

My pup Penny is a chocolate lab and she has morgs too...I must have given it to her...so sorry! I've put both cats and the dog on Buffalo Blue...all organic with duck (I'm NOT rich either), veggies and fruits. They all love it! They appear to be feeling much better since the switch from the Purina brand recommended by the vet... Thanks for the info...ladies! CTBarb

Good to have gotten off Purina, which unfortunately doesn't live up to its reputation. Just FYI, there is a brand of dry food I get for my kitties that is a "limited ingredients" kind of dry food made of duck and green peas and fortified with the nutrients they need. It is grain free which is a great thing. My kitties thrive on it, and what is WONDERFUL is that there is very little stink from it in their litter box. :-) It's made by Natural Balance, and when bought in the 10-lb. bag is quite reasonable. I pay under $25 month, and it feeds both my kitties both morning and night for all month. I had been getting an even better product by another company that was made in Canada with these same ingredients, but I think they either went out of business or the store stopped being able to get it here in this country. Can't remember exactly. But I would trust the Canadian pet food companies as they seem to have a wonderful reputation in their manufacturing of pet foods.

Barkley seems to have a lot more energy and vigor now that he's off the "mighty dog". Plus his allergies "he has bad hay fever and also problems with reversed sneezing"are less noticeable. Sweet potatoes are also good for dogs especially in combination w/poultry. I think its great that lots of us are staying away from the purina type dog foods.

My family loves the mess out of our dog, she's just like one of the kids, literally.
I LOVE the duck ideas, thanks!!! I think I can find raw duck at my Asian market. And in the canine natural habitat I'm sure they ate duck...ooh and rabbit. I should try to find rabbit too cuz yeah, I bet they would naturally eat lots of rabbits.
