This thread starts with a question about the appearance of fibers in relation to the use or permithrins. Later, I asked just for permithrin reactions and for readers to please post, so please do!Original post: I am wondering if people only have fibers after they have used lindane or a permithrin product like RidX... As for myself, I had itchy non-healing lesions that might sometimes bleed profusely, but I did not have these big nodules on the skin surface (they may well have existed as "fibromyalgia" beneath the surface however) nor did I have "callus" stuff (which is where I see these fibers, both the clear digging ones and the red, blue, black and occasional other color one) until after I had used both lindane and permithrins. Now, the fibers could have been there, or could have been in a dormant state, prior to the use of these products. I do not know if my assumption is correct, so this is just a little more data gathering. The point I am driving at here, is, did any of you find "fibers" before you used permithrins or lindane? AND if you did, were you possibly exposed to quite a bit of airborne pesticides as in regular spraying of an apartment of office building. I also don't remember the biting sensations before either. So please comment on that as well.. Did you have stinging and biting sensations before you ever used lindane or permithrins?Thank you. spec

My mother had large callused lesions before any permethrin use. We thought she was just picking and infecting her skin until I started using Batroban constantly and they seemed to eat it for breakfast. We have never used pesticides and she had no exposure.

Dear Spec, I had the stinging, bitting sensations starting in August when I moved to a new place that originally housed a homeless person or two over the years and a cat. I got the crawlies about 5 months later and bite marks and rash. I used pyrithium Nix, then cut my long hair that was down to my knees. Got the lice comb through ok but not improved. Have white rice grains on occasion in my nose and on body seen a week ago. No fibers seen. Lots of crawlies in the dowagers hump area. Was my first sign.

no fibers no stinging, only severe itching before I did permithian....yes and the lesions were smaller but more numerious...doct thought I had scabies but never found any...did permithian 2 times...killed the itching for exactly 3 days...then came back like wildfire

Thanks you guys. Changing the name of the thread now since my idea of "could fibers suddenly appear after permithrin use?" seems to be a wash, and hope to get more responses. I guess my first stuff was prescribed Lindane and it didn't help, it seemed to settle things down when I had it on, once I washed it off, was no more relief. I would use to get the stinging in those days but not that deep biting. The lindane settled down that constant stinging sensation, kind of similar to the Benzylkonium on the surface, maybe the lindane lotion made the bacteria settle down. Early on I had the intense itching and smaller lesions everywhere, as Jeff describes here. This went on for years. So many factors to consider, as to what has done what. Many have described, as Jeff did. an exaserbation of symptoms. So this would be my next question. Did permithrins or lindane cause any worsening reactions? From my own experience, I don't recall any real changes with the permithrin lotion. I had a little left and last June, my shoulders were quite itchy. I put about the size of a dime this lotion on my back. I fell asleep and several hours later. I knew for sure there were tracks under the skin, because between every single lesion on my shoulders there was a raised reddened line, like a dot to dot! Even more like a constellation map where the stars are connected to the nearest next one. In between these outlines the skin was smooth and completely unaffected. spec Other experiences regarding the use of permithrins and reactions?

Hi Spec,
I've had the smaller fiber-specks in my urine for as long as I can remember......I don't really know when the actual "longer" fibers started coming out of me. It was the lab that first found these specks when I was a child and almost died from an infection. They and several others throughout the years have called it "sediment" but it's always been there......yet nobody ever tried to figure out just why. As for the white dust, I first noticed it about 20 years ago but never thought much about it......it might have been around much longer than that also.
About fifteen years ago I started noticing the stinging and biting and other strange things, but ignored it for awhile because I couldn't believe what I was feeling. Then I had the tiny bites on my stomach and was diagnosed from across the room with lice. He instructed me to use the Nix every day until the bites disappeared, but on day three or four I realized it was making things much worse. (A nurse-friend examined me and said no way did I have lice.) After using the product, I would see the white stuff coming out of my pores, first on my left shoulder and then on both my ankles.....I think this is what comprises the lumps we feel beneath our skin, but it's only an opinion. Anyway, I stopped the applications and the nightmare really accelerated after that.
I have used Permethrin 5% in the past with good results but it's not something one should use everyday unfortunately. I now spot-treat with Eurax or tea tree and both help tremendously (especially with itching), but still they are only a band-aid.

I had all the symptoms "prior" to the use of permethrin. The stinging, crawling, black crud, crawling sensations, all that.
I felt something was definately living in my skin, so I ordered the permethrin 5% from Canada. On day 3 after the use of it, I popped out in extreme itching and about 50 more lesions. So for me, the use of it was a big mistake, it was almost as though it fed this.

We had only an itchy rash, my daughter all over her body, the rest of us just on our legs. we treated with permethrin 3-4 times. The creepy-crawlies started 2 months after. And then I tried lindane. A month later I got a big cobwebby lesion.
I had tingly patches on my scalp six months prior to the itchy rash on my whole family. I also had exterme fatigue, sweats, fevers, breathing problems for about 3 years prior, with no medical reason ever found.
I felt that the permethrin used repeatedly exacerbated the skin problems, but I have no proof. These toxics suppress the immune system, the last thing I needed.

I used Lindane Spec...thought it was gonna do the trick when I first got it, I was thrilled to death. Nope, it didn't do anything either way. I was real infective and infected at that time so I can't really say if it made me worse or not.

Because as I said before it was the doctor who found live b*** in my stomach sore I was given lindane. I went full blown literally overnight.
At first I blamed the lindane then realized it just brought to view what was really going on. And after repeated acticin treatments I had much more releif. Sometimes I still have to resort to it ( The acticin if the b** population gets out of control.)
healthy...no. But at this point I could care less.
As for fibers I dont remeber any before the lidane. Neither did I have crawlies.
