Hi,
I have been suffering from chronic pain for two years now... I have been diagnosed with Gulf War Illness, fibromyalgia, lupus, and now my doctor wants to test me for Lyme disease... Is the test for Lyme always on target? Is it possible for the test to be negative and you still have Lyme?
I am presently taking Avinza (morphine sulfate), Percocet and or Vicodin, Effexor and Trazadone. I am in pain all the time....
Thanks,
Avi

Welcome Avi, Your pain and meds. along with the possible misdiagnoses of the diseases you mentioned, it sounds very similar to Lyme Disease. The pain sometimes can be compared to cancer pain IMO. The test that is most used, depending on if your Doctor will allow you, go with IgenX. No I don't think the test are always on target. You need to if u can read up on the most recent LD info and testing. I am sure the other folks here will give their advice also. Just remember the holiday. Hang in there and if this test would come out neg. I would get another. I am sorry to tell U that LD is a dreadful disease that takes time and a good Dr. along w/ you learning as much as u can from the right sources to get well. You started at the right place. These people are great. PS I couldn't do with out my vicodin at times but others it doesn't even faze the pain so I grit my teeth. It is hard to believe that sometimes the meds I have been on can't touch the pain, but it's true. Just something to keep in mind. Again welcome and I know u can learn allot here and hope u get on the road to recovery soon. <ebgbgms> ;D

I was wondering.... I am in terrible pain and today I am nauseous.... I think it is because of the pain... some days I feel better, and then some days I really feel bad... Have you ever heard of people getting nauseous because of pain?

Avi, yes pain can cause nausea. Also the meds, but most of all the stress of all that is going on too. Finding out u may have yet another disease like Lyme could be a huge worry to u. Think about if it is true, u can get help and get better. U may not have the other problems as with LD it mimics so many things just as u have been told u have. So with treatment u could get much better. Are u on an antibiotic for anything? This could cause nausea too. But, being stomped on with all this, pain and possibilities can really cause anxiety. I hope u feel better soon, hang in there. Your friend, Glenda
