Kerry i know you mentioned before that your doctor gave you rifampin to fight babesia. I have never heard of this before and glad you were successful. Was it rifampin alone that you took or in combination with another drug/drugs? Thanks for your help! Robin in Houston

Well.. it was the Rifampin, plus the suppliments and herbs and stuff. Lots of Magnesium, coral calcium, vit B 6 and 12, garlic pills.. the usual the we all take. I tried the Mepron and Zithro combo but it didnt touch my babesia.. and I was loaded with it. I know Rifampin isnt the usual drug for babesia.. for it worked for me and many others at my Drs office. Maybe where we live, its just a different species altho the tests did say Microti.. Let me take a look and see if there has been any upgraded info on Babesia and Rifampin since I last researched.

The garlic I was taking was actual garlic oil pills.. really strong smelling and upset my stomach on days I couldnt eat. Ive heard artemesia also helps with babesia tho. I cant find anything out there mentioning why my Dr or how she got rid of my babesia with Rifampin.. but I sent her an email asking.. Most likely she will have the info for me on my next appt Dec 17th. I know the whole time I was on it I was researching about it and even my family Dr questioned why she was treating babesia with Rifampin.. but each time I went my babesia count was going down, so I figured she must know something.. The Mepron, zithro didnt touch it.. and she said I was too sick for the quinine.. my system couldnt handle it. I'll keep looking tho.. Kerry

Oh Good.. yes.. ask your Dr about the Rifampin.. I see mine soon but I keep forgetting. Im getting tested for nanobacteria this time.. test goes to Finland.. I will write myself a note and see if my Dr can explain how the Rifampin killed the Babesia.. I mean... dont get me wrong.. I was on the zithro and Mepron for 3 months previous... but that didnt seem to affect the babesia count? At that time I was real sick and out of it.. and the answer was "seems lately I am dealing with a different strain of babesiosis" But still.. it has me curious.. its still a protozoa parasite.. and Rifampin is still an antibiotic? Strange..

I think this paragraph is MOST noteworthy!
Corrie Brown, a professor at the University of Georgia, told The Scientist that NBAF is needed because globalization is causing the most worrisome agricultural diseases to move around the world with increasing frequency, necessitating better diagnostic capabilities to detect and contain them. "So the diseases we used to think we could stop at our borders, we're pretty sure we probably can't stop them at our borders anymore," she said.

Thanks for the info Skytroll.. yes.. I saw it somewhere just recently.. probably google news alert. I have mine set for Lyme Disease, Plum Island, and of course.. Morgellons. ............. Also.. I talked to my Dr about the Rifampin.. she still says its a different species here mainly on the East coast and even tho it is a protozoa, Rifampin seems to be killing it.. out of all the Babesia meds.. so far this has worked the best. I got rid of it in about 9 months. I know others who are in my local support group going to other Lyme Drs having no luck with the usual Mepron and other drugs. So I still dont quite understand except that she is right.. and it did work for me and many of her others. I do want to mention a test.. covered by some insurances.. for those seeing Lyme Drs.. its kind of an endocrinology test... I made a post about it before.. its called HPA Profile from Sanesco company.. tests the brains neurotransmitters along with the hormones.. It will give your Dr a clue as to how infected your brain is and where to start as far as meds to correct the neurotransmitters.. really neat test and the meds are working.. My levels were very low everywhere except for my seritonin.. which was strange.. Many in my support group are having this test done now.. The company will send the Dr the meds you need along with an explanation of why certain neurotransmitters could be low.. and how it affects the body and brain.. Better than a Spect scan.. and much cheaper. I really advise getting this test if you can. Also.. Im waiting for my Nanobacteria test to come back.. just got it done and it gets sent to Finland,, Should be quite interesting.. By the time this mess is over I will know every damn molecule and cell in my body.. and what should and shouldnt be there.. They are really coming off with amazing technology and this is only the beginning.. Very exciting times.. sucks to be sick thru it.. but interesting regardless. Kerry
