State by State ppl are clustering together to fight Lyme..
I ask whatever State you are in.. go to lymenet and write every support member in your own State. Get them all on 1 list..
As each State is brought together.. we will then join as a nation..
Stand up and fight!! The time has come.
Here is Florida!

"Dear Florida Lyme Community:
As our collective "next step" in lobbying our bill has several steps involved, I thought it most helpful to clarify what needs to be done by simply giving you Homan's direct instructions to me to pass on.
The attachments he references (bill, one pager, ILADS Treatment Guidelines, and Basic Facts) will be emailed once we have the bill numbers for the house and senate versions of the bill.
Homan would like the numbers on these materials to be left behind in a manila folder title "Lyme Bill" after your 15 min. face to face meetings with your respective senators and house rep's.
Pam Marks, one of my colleagues has agreed to help me via her husbands knowledge of scanning doc's into email; by scanning ILADS Treatment Guidelines and Basic Facts off the trifold into the email which can then be blasted out to all with the bill and the one pager Homan sent me.
We need to do this and number all before you all put in your folders for respective meetings.
In the meantime, however, you will see below his desire for us all to make our calls, get the appts. as soon as possible so that once the numbers can be put on the attachments (within next few days); we can put our respective files together and get out there to collectively lobby.
You will see he wants senators to be the priority as our house shot is stronger at this point and the senate will, inevitably, be our toughest battle ground.
Once we get those materials to you for meetings, you can email me with the yes or no of support, name of legislator, and I will tally and forward to Homan so he has an idea of his shot and who he needs to target.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me and I'll respond as soon as I can.
Thanks SO much for all of your collective help. Let's go get 'em!
Sincerely,
Lori Hoerl

Rep. Homan's Instructions:
The local Lyme advocate should go to
election.dos.state.fl.us/Cand/index.asp and search for the recent
and past contributors to the legislators' campaigns to find someone they
know (or a physician) that is prominent in the community and who has given
$500 to a campaign race. (At the election website you can query the database by descending $ amounts to make it easy to find the $500 checks.)
The advocate and contributor should arrange for a 15 minute meeting with the
legislator in their home district office before the session starts and give
them in a manila folder with LYME DISEASE written on the tab,
1) the Lyme Disease 'talk sheet', 2) a copy of the bill itself, 3) a copy of
the "Basic Information" side of the trifolded ILADS 'What You Need To Know
About ILADS & Lyme Disease' without the front side, 4) a copy of the pamplet
"Expert Review of Anti-infective Therapy" from the International and Associated Diseases Society. ( 3 & 4 were handouts at the All Children's
meeting.)
At the meeting with the legislator the two constituents should go over the
'talk sheet' points and the advocate should give their personal story of how
this disease has effected them or a member of their family and why we need
the senator or representative to support this bill.
15 minutes isn't a lot of time after you go through the pleasantries of
'How are you', etc. Have your story down to just a few paragraphs and make
it factual, not "whiney". If you get a positive response from the legislator about the bill then ask him to sign on as a co-sponsor as soon as
he reads and understands the bill. If he/she has any questions about the
bill ask them to call me on my cell phone @ 813-966-1958 anytime.
Preferences on the 'to do' list should go to the senators and then the representatives on the health care comm. & insurance comm. After that, any
other senator or representative that will co-sponsor the bill will be a
help. I've never heard of a controversial bill having had a majority of
co-sponsors lined up before the session starts, but it is a goal to shoot
for. Someone needs to be appointed to be the record keeper of who is making
contacts with whom and the response received. (Send to me and I'll tally and forward)
Yes/No or fencesitter "undecided" - Homan: I can work on the 'fence-sitters' to try and get them to our side. For those that have already decided to be with or against us, I don't need to waste my time.
All that being said, the real work starts now. Engage as many people to help
as you can to get these meetings with the legislators set up before March
3rd., the sooner the better.
