I was checking the Valley Fever website - I got Valley Fever last year, but I've had "this" for about 4 or 5 years. I probably got Valley Fever because "this" weakened my immune system. Valley Fever is a systemic fungal infection - also need to do the anti-candida diet, no sugar, get lots of rest, build up immune system, etc. . . . Someone mentioned VFEND as a new drug on the Valley Fever discussion list: www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/vfend.htmI was reading the list of ingredients in this prescription medication - does anyone with a more scientific/medical bent have any thoughts on this med? The Clinical Pharmacology tab has more info - it also outlines the various responses based on race. I have to pay attention to this stuff since I'm Eurasian and my previous ID doctor seemed to have the VF facts backwards (she believed that white males had a higher VF dissemination rate, but that's not what I've read) Since the anti-Candida diet seems to help with Morgellons, and some people seem to have symptom relief with Diflucan or Fluconazole (anti-fungal prescription drugs), I am wondering if this VFEND could help. Any thoughts? QH

Hi Questionhair! How are the Horses? I started (what you had suggested) Vinegar in water trough and little garlic powder in their feed - they love it!! they are looking healthy too - as the saying goes " their full of pee AND VINEGAR!" Sorry to get off track here, just wanted to FYI and thank you for the advise.
I was on Doxycycline and Nizoral. It did alot of good but was still having scalp, Headaches, nuero problems really bad - so my dr. had me come in and start allergy testing for all the mold Fungus's (sp), grass and trees, well I only had time to do one set of mold - fungus and it happen to be the water related mold-fungus(there is a technical word for it but can't think of it) Oh Boy! did that stir things up - I had a pretty bad reaction to that particular set so the Dr. said " that gave him an idea of what medication to start new on - Itraconazole - Have been on it for a week now and have had some incredible results - feels like 100pds. has been lifted of head and I can actually get my shoes on with ease(had swollen ankles and feet). Have not been tested for valley fever - would like to know more about it!! infact, I'm going to look it up next. Never have heard of VFEND would like to learn about that too. Sorry you been feeling down - I got all worked up and had to throw my 2 cents in about this "t" person! I probably shouldn't have done that. Have a good day! Patti2

Hi Patti2:
Glad to hear the horses are doing well. Horses here are doing well too. Spring, and all . . . mares hopefully eyeing the geldings . . .
We had a long time leak under under the sink and then a medium-time leak under a washer and I had a water-caused mold. I often wonder if that contributed to weakening my immune system.
Valley Fever seems to affect people who have a weakened immune system. I got it after a winter of heavy rains here in the desert. Cocci spores get blown around after the rain if the soil is disturbed.
I had this scalp stuff for several years before getting VF, so I think this gave the Valley Fever a chance to take hold. Last month a man down the street got Valley Fever, just dropped down on his job and got taken to the hospital. He was 170 lbs and last I heard he was 92 lbs and going to a convalescent hospital.
I try to stay inside when the cocci spores might be out.
Stay well, have fun with the horses too

VFEND is Voriconazole. Posaconazole is possibly better, and Fungistat is also recent.
These were approved in 2000, the prior year to the major outbreaks in CA, TX and FL (Not coincidentially)

Not a coincidence?
I almost missed that.
